  1. Re: Post "gotchas" here

Well' date=' in 6E Hand-to-Hand Attack does [i']not[/i] state that it is limited Strength. It states that it adds to your damage from Str, and how much it costs.

The cost structure is based on STR, but I think that this distinction is made so that players don't confuse HA with STR in gameplay. Otherwise, complex arguments about things like whether or not the HA damage should be halved when performing a Move Through would result.

  2. Re: Post "gotchas" here

I more and more lean to the removal of HKA and renaming RKA simply "Killing Attack". If you don't want your killing attack to have Range, make it No Range. That's what you do with any other attack to remove its Range.

If you want it to be higher because you are strong, spend the points for a larger KA. That's what the guy with a 50 INT who wants to do more damage because he targets vital spots, or a guy with 35 DEX who wants to do more damage because he can attack with such great precision, does.

You could even put a Limitation on your KA, or your extra KA dice, that it Locks Out an equal amount of your STR. With no such limitation, it's quite all right to perform a Multiple Power Attack combining a Strike with your HKA and a Strike with your Strength, something I rarely see the guy with the claws consider.

Decoupling STR from HKA damage in this way feels to me like oversimplification for the sake of an intellectual exercise.

One obvious reason that this would be a bad move is that if your claw-wielding character's STR were affected (by a Drain or Aid, for example) then the KA would be unchanged. Common sense, dramatic realism, and special effect would all suggest otherwise.

    Yikes! *makes PRE Roll* *returns*

    An anti-gotcha:

I was surprised to see the Hit Location STUNx column unaltered; I was almost expecting (after reading about the upcoming change of the Stun Multiplier to 1d3 and figuring out the averages on the Hit Location Charts) that particular column to disappear and simply be replaced by the N STUN values.

So I'll guess I'll still hurt more when you all eat me - assuming you're using the Hit Location Chart when you eat me. Am I in a Heroic Genre right now?

I just noticed this last night. (We have only played supers since I got the pdfs for 6e.) It seems like an oversight to me. It makes KAs that use the hit location chart more powerful than those that don't. I'm gonna do some numbers crunching and see how they compare, but I'm kind of disappointed by it that particular choice so far.

Caveat: With very small exceptions, I think 6e is awesome and a definite improvement of an alrerady great game.

  4. Re: Internet connection

HRRP: Wireless Bandwidth Only; Focus (handheld device).

If you really need to Model everything a 'net connection can do then the VPP to drop various applications into works well.

You said no Perks but I'm just going to toss out the Access Perk generally works well. Instead of Access to something high class you just have a roaming Wireless Access at large and don't have to worry about getting to a terminal.

This is exactly how we do it in my group.

  5. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

These are all great pics, etherio. You obviouisly have a great imagination and a great talent for getting it down on paper. The Scarab reminds me of Nightowl's ship from the Watchmen (Archie?)

PS: Congrats on getting married. Your lucky woman is very beautiful.

Thanks, Duster. Yes, the ship was inspired by the Nite Owl's ship. Dave Gibbon's design work in the graphic novels was good stuff.

  6. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

I have both 6th ed rulebooks on pdf, but I have not yet completed conversion of my characters and vehicles, so I posted the 5th ed write-ups of the vehicles with the pics.

When I finish conversions, I'll edit my previous posts and update the write-ups.

    Enjoy!

    CRICKET SLEDS

These are personal VTOL flying/submersibles that our group uses...built, of course, by Gold Bug. When underwater, the pilot can use retractable SCUBA breathing gear that is housed in the steering console.

(This is a manip, but very little of the original drawing is left...mainly just the seat. Can you identify it?)

  8. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

I'll wait for Mancer to post his NPCs. I have the images on file and could put them up here, but his character summaries would be better. So I'll post a couple more images of my own design from the campaign...

    THE SCARAB

This is the primary vehicle for my character Gold Bug, who appeared at this post. It amounts to a lightly armored VTOL flying/submersible troop character for our group, the New Outsiders. It has some pretty good radar-jamming capabilities, communications gear, and a holding cell, but no weapons as of yet. I drew this one from scratch on my 'puter, so I likes it.

    Congrats' date=' Etherio!...[/quote']

    Thanks!

Love the necklace' date=' BTW. I assume there's some significance to it?[/quote']

It's a lei, actually, although it might not look like the kinds of leis you're used to seeing in films and such. There are many styles, and since I'm allergic to flowers, I prefer the ones that don't have flowers. It's pretty common here for people to wear leis on special occasions (high school grads have trouble seeing over the piles they get from friends and family). It's sort of a way to be dress-casual.

  10. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

congratulations. She's beautiful and looks very happy. She IS a gamer right? My wife is my best ( and most constant) player. Those one on one sessions are great.

Thanks. No, she's not a gamer...but she is an avid reader and a bit of a comic geek, and she never gives me any crap about the time I spend gaming. That last one is unusual in itself, in my experience. Given her comics interests (she's a biiiig fan of the X-Men), though, I imagine she'll try playing with us at some point.

  11. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

Congrats' date=' again, on the marriage. You two are a great looking couple...[/quote']

Thanks. I think I bring up the curve a bit.

I was in Hawaii the end of July' date=' but on the wrong island. We were on Maui...[/quote']

Dang. You should've come down to O`ahu. I was also on vacation at the end of July. Maybe next time.

  12. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign

    Hi all!

Again, a long break from posting anything on the forums. We've had a good campaign, though, for the last year or so...gonna get Mancer, the GM, to post more of his characters on the thread to keep the 'Project: XIII' continuity growing. It's been fun relaxing and being a player instead of GMing for the first significant stretch in many years.

We're still short-handed in our group, though, so I'm here to see if any more Hawaii (or soon-to-be-in-Hawaii) players are interested. Let me know! I'll post also on the player-finder threads

Oh, by the way...I got married! :celebrate

  13. Re: If You Draw It...They Will Come

Since he was not a stereotype, he stayed away from most of the indian stereotype.

He had dark hair wore long and held in place by a beaded headband. No feathers. (In SID he had it pulled back into a ponytail.) A Domino mask covers his eyes with 2 points coming down from the lower corners to signify fangs.

He wears a black long sleeved body suit, covered with a brown indian style leather vest and loincloth. With brown buckskin boots.

He stayed away from stereotype with a ponytail, loincloth, and buckskin boots?
