  1. Re: WWYCD: Drumstick or Wing of Mutant?

hmm - Vitus would be conflicted. It would certainly be one way to get rid of all these spell-like-abilities-gifted freaks that so offend his sense of "you have to *work* to earn your powers" but he'ld probably reluctantly agree to do something about it, if only to put a swifter end to all the irritating noise of flying saucer battles, screaming mutant cattle-drives, etc.

  2. Re: WIYCT: Concept

Drhoz An inventively sadistic pirate and slaver

Brother Staples Rennet A kindly travelling priest (killed by lap-dancing orc)

Mister Pink A quietly but completely sociopathic bankrobber

(a role given at random in a convention game of Reservoir Dogs , but one I relished. and yes, of course the colours didn't match, we didn't want to give away who was who, did we?)

Chris Forrester A pleasant but obsessive starship's engineer

Father Ionnu A Dark Age vampire with religious mania

Eidolon A COMPLETELY sadistic alien invader

Vitus Drhazz ul Kashrak ur RrschdA monstrously arrogant and foul-tempered - but easily manipulated - stranded alien sorceror

The Professor A bored supergenius toying with world governments

The Hadean A lone alien castaway roped into alienating civic duties

Democles A lonely scholar irretrievably lost in a hostile land

also - A devoted father and professional cannibal and human-butcher

Herman's Intellect from Herman's Head (another con game)

    A thermal detonator sales-gibbon

    and many others

  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

Barbara's character Felicity is hunting down teammate Vitus and his concubine 3, to let him know that another teammate has been kidnapped by ARGENT.

Vitus has just discovered the news headlines "Superheroes - Danger or Menace?"

In order to distract Vitus from his resulting rage, 3 uses her 30+ comeliness and a nipple flash. It works very well on Vitus AND Felicity, who is bi...

Vitus to self (both staring at 3's chest) : Wasn't i... doing something?

Felicity to Vitus : yes.. me too I think

    (both stare some more)

Felicity (still unable to look away) : Oh yeah, Orca's been kidnapped

    Vitus ( likewise ) : Really..? that's nice

Felicity: by some people.. colour.. people named after a colour...

Vitus (still gazing slackjawed ) : Funny... the only colour I can think of....is pink...

  4. Re: Caution : Superhero at Work

They could pay him a shiny new nickel for every bit of space junk he got out of orbit.

He could easily take specialty repair parts /supplies to the ISS.

He could be there just as a safety factor for EVA activities.

Oh, I LIKE that one - and he probably will too, at least until he mistakes his first kill-sat for space junk.

  5. Re: Caution : Superhero at Work

Given the cost of a probe to Pluto (or wherever), I think they could build 10 payloads and hope he delivers one correctly. At least a landing probe; with those there's no problem getting it in a stable orbit.

Once he's trained to drop off stuff, he could do the same over and over. The initial training phase might only have "beeper" payloads; very cheap (relatively) transmitters that we could check survived the delivery.

good idea - but he'ld need pretty good lessons to help him find Pluto in the first place - it's dark out there!

"Ok.. just fly out that way a few hours.. see if you hit anything.. and put this on it"

  6. Re: Caution : Superhero at Work

"So there were a couple of green guys and... hey! Look! A dog with a fluffy tail!"

What is it about gamers that draws them to toons with mental ages of three, anywa... hey! a dog with a fluffy tail!

dunno. maybe it's the.. ooh, shiny!

  7. Re: Caution : Superhero at Work

Not much; any agency shelling out a large amount of money, or asking for an important task to be performed, cannot afford the random chance factor of having a three-year old (mental or otherwise) involved.

    :(

of course, there's no problem with him working in a superhero group ;D

but yes, his impulsiveness is a problem with serious missions. his almost human-normal vision wouldn't help much any further out than Saturn, either...

  8. Re: Caution : Superhero at Work

Hm. If it is known that he has the mental age and maturity of a three-year-old' date=' there are a fair few organisations that would object to him "working" for anyone, regardless of his other abilities.[/quote']

that's one of the problems. He also has a tendancy to rush off before the person talking to him has finished giving him instructions...

  9. One of the events in our recent game involved one character innocently suggesting to another, that if he wanted to know about war, he should go visit Mars. The other character promptly did so, returning in 80 minutes with a shiny rock that had caught his eye.

The rock was just a rock, but NASA was *very* interested in somebody who could do sample-return missions to anywhere in the solar system, at light-speed. Carrying up to roughly his own body weight (altho it would need to be well protected, since anything his does carry tends to catch fire).

He's also immune to heat and radiation, being, as he is, an avatar of the Sun.

So, can anybody suggest and ideas NASA or private contracters could use him for - given the slight problem that he has the mental age and maturity of a three-year-old?

  10. Re: Wwycd: Doom!!!!

    *giggles*

Zero would, immeadiately, scream like a little girl and run. Probably straight into a wall and knock himself out. He's a very minor psyker with Dr. D as a Hunted.

Vitus, on the other other hand, would study him carefully, ask if, in fact, he's not one of Teleios's Destroyer clones, ask for proof of such, and then rant at length as to how exactly he expects the Skeleton Crew to deal with such a situation, and then murmur "... actually.." because there's a very good chance we could pull it off.

Vitus has a fairly potent dispel magic he can keep casting, he's familiar with demons (and exterminates them without mercy) and one of Felicity's powers, that can effect a city-wide area, has a special effect that's sheer poison to demons. As we discovered to our surprise turning back a demonic invasion of 3's homeworld

  11. Re: Help needed: Sadistic "April Fool's" Jokes

superglue on the toilet seat. Above a sewer full of trained plague rats.

hell, there's a whole range of vicious prants you can do with crazy glue... crazyglue slurpees, crazy glue on the underside of accelerator pedals, crazy glue strip across the interstate highway, yaddayaddayadda. With a few tanks of this stuff the Harlequin could rename himself Glue-Shtich

  12. Re: WWYCD?--"I'm not crazy...or anything."

    *snmerk. snigger. muffled guffaws*

I am currently picturing Vitus's response to this situation. For someone who was once the prophet of a young and overwhelmingly vibrant religion, Vitus isn't that high on actual wisdom, let alone modern psychiatric practise.

Add to that that he comes from a world where the very gods were reluctant to use their power overtly (for fear of provoking another, and Final, GodWar), having come to Earth only to find that the god-like beings that infest do little more than meddle in politics ( his rant face-to-face with Eurostar is here - http://drhoz.livejournal.com/71763.html ) he would have no patience at all with angst. Vitus uses every iota of his power and skill to achieve his goals (admittedly most of those goals are pointless stranded on earth and his home reality erased), but he has nothing against other people going all out for what they believe in. In fact, such whole-hearted dedication is the only acceptable behaviour. Other little related oddities about his outlook include his puzzlement that Earth is *resisting* the takeover attempts by Istvatha V'han, Mistress of a Thousand Worlds. Don't the locals realise how much they'll gain? A Thousand Worlds of medicine and technology, plenty of room at the frontier for anybody that way inclined, vast new resources available... Vitus has nothing against empire-building, he's done it himself, and a vast network of states under a centralised and benevolent control sounds like heaven to him.

So the closest thing to treatment for acute depression he's likely to offer is a few swift kicks up the backside and a frothing rage that if he doesn't do everything he's capable of doing with his superhuman gifts then he may as well be dead.

  13. Re: Help needed: Sadistic "April Fool's" Jokes

    Rage,

You have just caused me to think of the most offensive character concept it has been my misfortune to dream up.

Stillborn Man : The Miscarriage of Justice

If anyone finds this as offensive as I do, feel free to delete this post.

    KA.

*laughs til it hurts* Yes, I too have a twisted brain (and the CAT scans to prove it :) )

  14. Re: Help needed: Sadistic "April Fool's" Jokes

or something inspired by the most elaborate practical joke i heard about -

victim wakes up from drugged sleep, in his own room. A recording is playing happily informing him that he has a few minutes to escape before the bomb or whatnot goes off... but his door has been plastered and painted over, and a fake door built over the wall a few feet along...
