  1. This isn't new to 6th Edition, but Night Vision is bought as +4 Sight Per, Only vs. Darkness Penalties, and it is described as working in total darkness, except that it doesn't work against the actual Darkness power. In the past I have ruled this as not applying in pitch blackness such as deep underground with no light source and a normal person can't see their hand in front of their face. That is, I've interpreted Night Vision as not applying under those conditions because there are no darkness penalties, you simply can't see. On the other hand, there's the 'total darkness' thing. Is the official intent that Night Vision work in conditions beside 'darkness fields' where light effectively does not exist (barring the stray photon here and there)?

This has been one of the most fun Champions games I have played in for a long time.

We have judged a surfing contest and had to save the prize money from an Iceman clone.

We provided security for an Ironman competition whose winners had a history of going missing (turns out they were being sacrificed to a sea god by a local cult).

We foiled a series of heists by the security-nullifying Video Vandals.

Plus, over half the members of the struggling band Frozen Aorta are on the team (New teammate Sonic Wave is also new lead singer). A friend is thinking of joining the game, I'm going to suggest that one of our two non-super band members 'have an origin' involving the hero team (Hero Corps, chosen by the fans).

The Scoobiness of it all is very refreshing. Most of the superhero games I've been involved in have been a bit grim.

  3. Re: Supers: How'd they get that way (and why do so many of them wear long johns?)

The real-world explanation for the costumes is, of course, artists who could basically draw nude outlines and impose a distinctive costume on them, influenced also by the tights and costumes of circus performers of the day. Gaudy skin-tight costumes have some practical uses though: they can make you instantly recognizable from a distance (don't shoot men, it's Captain Hammer!), they're easy to conceal under regular clothing (making quick changes easier), they allow a lot of freedom of movement, they distract from your face (making your civilian ID harder to recognize), they can be like the colors of a monarch butterfly or coral snake (warning people that you're dangerous) or the colors of a gang (identifying you as a member of the hero/villain community), and, not least, they show off your heroic physique (if you have one). Spandex-ish costumes have their drawbacks of course, but it isn't that unreasonable that a super who fights or commits crime might a (possibly trade-marked) costume to be worth the embarassment.

  4. Re: How much should strength cost?

The mark of a Characteristic priced correctly is what happens when you cost it differently. My experience has been that at 2 points per point of Str, Bricks tend to disappear. In heroic games people start buying Str with limitations like 'only to meet Str min of firearms'. Ambidexterity is an example of a Talent that's been over-priced, back when it was 3 points usually someone in a group would get it, I've never seen anyone get it since the price was upped to 9 points--they get Two-Weapon Fighting instead.

  5. Re: In your Universe ...

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vin Diesel, and Madonna are all Empyreans.

I presume they are all real people who died young and were replaced by Empyreans altered to look like them. Madonna is about due to retire and be replaced by a human altered to look like her (AND the girl she replaced), if it hasn't been done already.

Any Empyrean Transmuter should be able to pull off the cosmetic alterations.

    Ummmm, Lua is bathroom.

Also you might want to get the lyrics for the Braddah Iz song for Maui. Maui is the hawaiian superman. There is alot of folklore about him and what he has done. Like supposedly he made the sun move slower, fished up the islands and other things too. Menehunes are the ones that are tricksters. You might want to see about the different islands.. for instance Kaua'i is the land where giants come from......

    Ai- yes

    A'ole- no

    Maika'i is good.

Also make alot of food refrences.... Kaukau- food and always have enough to share because that is the Aloha way!

Sounds good, I heard Lua is also a Martial Art, but I won't be calling myself that now for sure. People might think I'm named after the island if I call myself 'Maui', but at least it will mean something to them. I will think on it.
