  1. Already discussed with Marc Miller (and Kevin Walsh), and now with Jason at HERO. Note that I don't do dates or financials for Marc, but what I can say is that we're looking at a document that would both provide errata for the existing Traveller HERO material, and assist in converting the existing Traveller HERO material to work with HERO 6th edition.

As far as the state of the Third Imperium in T5... Understand that while T5's published default is Golden Age (1105), the FFE plan moving forward is to have the clock restart post-1248.

So, to get a jump start while everyone discusses agreements...

    1. What forum posts or materials should I be reviewing for errata/notes/ideas...

    2. What elements of the published Traveller HERO books were problematic, and would benefit from reconsideration/rework.

And yes, this does stem from those I game with really wanting to get back to HERO, so if someone could point me at a "differences between 4th and 6th edition" and "how to convert 4th edition to 6th edition", I'd be grateful.

  2. For folks who pay attention to FFE, yes, I'm that Don McKinney... legacy Traveller errata, Mongoose Zhodani book, etc.

My local gaming group wants to return to HERO, but the last time we all played was 4th. Looking to combine my T5 and other efforts, since everyone but me wants to give HERO a new shakeout.

So, is there anyone who has done some preliminary work on converting TH to HERO 6th, and is there enough interest that I would start collecting TH errata/material. Sadly, I know a TH CD is not an option.

  3. Ok, the last time I played seriously with HERO System was 4th edition. I've just convinced myself (well, my players had a lot to do with it) to go back to HERO System...

And I really need to be pointed to two things:

    1. Is there a good, detailed reference of changes between 4th and 5th editions?

    2. What's the difference between the original 5th edition, and the revised 5th edition.

Just some links would be enough. I attempted some pretty pathetic google and found some links to locations that no longer exist (sigh...)

So, I'd appreciate some assistance. And, I see the 6th edition discussion, but I think my new game will start before that...

  4. Re: The Fan Project

After reviewing my last post, I thought I'd better explain my position and reasoning.

I've a LONG time FH GM, ran a campaign for over 10 years using 4th edition HERO (without FH). Had a great time, but when it looked like HERO was dead, I eventually ended the campaign. I've run fantasy d20 since, but have NOT been happy with it. I've now had proven to me that 5th ed HERO is not a flash in the pan, soon to go away, rules set. So I'm looking at coming back.

There's nothing for me to start with...

Early on in 3E, Wizards posted a short scenario with 2 characters, and ONE encounter for a pseudo-GM to run. The two characters were obvious class-based characters, but it was easy, and anyone could demo/play it.

I'd like to see such a basic "default combat scenario", with six fantasy-literature based archetypes at like a 50+50 build, that people could demo at cons, and use to prove that HERO fantasy works. What it should NOT be is a conversion of D&D -- it should feel fantasy, which is NOT always D&D (there's a large base of people who love fantasy and don't play D&D, after all).

But coming up with those archetypes, and a simple encounter which works for any two of the six, doesn't exist at the moment.

Once you have that, building adventures for our "HERO-iconic" characters becomes much simpler :)

Thoughts? Is this what you guys will be doing? Because if not, I have to do it, and if you are, I want to join in...

  5. Re: The Fan Project

I'd like to make some suggestions for such a project, but I have a question first.

Is your intention to produce fan-supported adventures for Turakian Age, OR, is it your intention to build a base of fan-generated material allowing for speeding up the FH player learning curve?

The two are very seperate, and I think the second may be more important to FH than the former.
