Re: Character: Socially Conscious Man!
I just designed him because I was annoyed by the Superheroes Don't Solve Real Problems whining from the Millar crowd.Obviously, this would never work for the Millar crowd. He doesn't seem to be an overwhelming jerk attempting to make the world a better place by taking it over in the author's emotionally stunted revenge fantasy.
Other than that, looks good.

Re: CHAMPIONS REVISED -- If We Do It, What Would You Like To See?
Do so. My understanding of copyright law is that the ten-year rule was superceded quite some time ago.Copyright is Lifetime of the Owner + 70 years (or 95 years in the case of Work for Hire).
Trademark on the other hand, does have to be renewed/defended every so often or they're considered "abandoned".
I think that's what Balabanto's referring to.
Dunno how it would apply here, since the background information/costume design and the like should fall into Copyright, not Trademark. You might be able to poach the names, though.

Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread
Working Plumbing! The plumbers cut the pipe out that was the problem area. The whole thing was bowed and falling apart. 40 year old pipe made of compressed tar paper. Apparently the whole neighborhood had this type.
I'm just excited that I can take a shower longer than five minutes.
Heh, we got a new hot water heater installed yesterday. The one that was in the house was 15 years old. The house is only 12, so apparently the builder bought it in bulk and let it sit for a few years.
It was so nice not having to keep adjusting the temperature up as my shower went on.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
But you can't eat one of those chocolate phones - right ?I saw an Ad somewhere that said they now have pink "strawberry" chocolate phones. I think it was on the Internet homepage.
You might be able to swallow pieces after chucking the thing against the wall because none of the features work, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Re: The cranky thread
The universe revolves around her, but in a good way. In a paradoxical way, while everything in the house revolves around her, she manges to give back even more than she receives.Kinda cool.
Sounds like a good way.
As opposed to a black pit of life draining suck.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
On my entertainment news site, there's this unfortunate turn of phrase.
Media titan Oprah Winfrey is throwing her considerable weight behind Barack Obama's bid to become America's first black president ...I don't think she's THAT big anymore.

Re: The cranky thread
Obviously' date=' she is related to Mrs. Mentor.[/quote']Heh. Are we talking "because she pays for it; she makes one and a half times as much as you do", too?
I've caught up somewhat, she used to make double my salary, but the big car company that's name begins with G and ends with M hasn't given pay raises to it's salaried employees for years.
Man that's a sweet gig.
or are we talking "because everything in the universe revolves around her" like She Who Should Not Be Named.
Brrr.

The marketing guy that decided to name a phone 'chocolate' was a genius.Indeed. Brilliant plan. I hope he gets a big ole raise.

I am so far in debt it's gonna cost me an arm and a leg to pay this month's bills.Any Filthy Rich Playboys out there need new Arm Candy ?
No help here, I married a Sugar Mama, so what's mine is hers and what's hers is hers.

Re: The cranky thread
I mean I'm glad oxygen's on the ball and have sent us every film they showed last quarter. Alas though, Breakfast at Tiffany's has been in the database for, oh, my lifetime. Terms of Endearment nearly that long. So, now I'm wading through crap to see what's good.
Sigh. I got my work done early, and so I get stuck with this. No good deed goes unpunished.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
My wife bought an LG Chocolate' date=' which [i']in theory[/i] has many of the same features as the iPhone. Unfortunately, it looks like LG rushed it to beat Apple to the market, and the thing doesn't work right at all. She's on her third phone and has finally got the MP3 player part to work, but the buttons are hyper-sensitive (not in a good way), some of the aps work about half the time, and the battery only gives you about 5 seconds warning before it runs out of juice.Yet the things sell like hotcakes. Assuming the Iphone actually works as advertised, I expect they'll do well.
but, but, the LG Chocolate is so ... pretty and new and shiny and all the girls here at work must have them despite the fact that most of them work paycheck to paycheck and can't afford such a thing.
From what I've seen, I concur. They're not worth the price.

Thanks, I think.

Re: The cranky thread
Well' date=' the friend I'm subscribing with is so disillusioned with Marvel's Civil War results and the effects it will have on the comics we get that she's thinking of dumping them.[/quote']At the gaming store every saturday, Nathan picks up his comics, and I leaf through them waiting for my wife to start the game.
I don't think there's enough curse words in the universe to cover my opinions of that series.
First time I've looked at comics in 10 years. And this is my first exposure.
I'm going back under my rock.

Re: The cranky thread
They upgraded my computer here at work. The keyboard is smaller than I'm used to. So, I've got a third less work done than usual, because I have to keep going back and correcting my typing.

I just relay what I'm told...
Or is this specifically saying in a roundabout way that anything to do with HD (including the prefabs page) can't link to anything to do with the Master Lists (including this thread) with the specific exception of this thread having a .hdc download available?Precicely. Good catch.

Re: Master List of Limitations, HD Prefabs
In response to the last few posts, Worldmaker/Jack Butler asked that the following be posted to this thread.
"Jack Butler has forbidden Eddie Sells from directly associating the Master Lists with Dan Simon or his products except in this thread and this thread alone as a condition of the permission he gave Eddie Sells to produce the .hdc version of the Master List of Limitations."
So, I'd imagine that Linking it to the Prefabs would be a non-starter.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
This is the best week. Three days of vacation. Tomorrow's the Holiday Party, so we work 9-12 then go to the party. So, today was the only day I have to work. And they gave me my "Annual Merit Bonus" of 3.75% (4 was the max).
Hee.

Re: The cranky thread
My work is trying to get me to go into hibernation. The heat's set at 70. It has NOT been 70 degrees in that office. When I'm wearing a turtleneck and a sweater, and my fingers are turning blue, it is NOT seventy degrees.
If only I could afford some thermals . . .
"Seventy, I thought you said Seven. My bad."
____
Two weeks ago on Monday, we came into work, it was 85 degrees. Several of us called Building Maintainance and bitched.
They turned the AC blower up to "Warp Factor 9" and the temperature down to "Colder than my mother's heart."
And it's been that way ever since. You know it's bad when people are going outside to get warm.
And it was 54 degrees outside today.
Down in the depths of the ground floor, I know the maintainance guys are laughing their asses off about us poor bastards in Cell Block 3.
Sigh.

Bless you, Jeff.Long live misterdeath.
And oddly... I share the same opinions. Guns are for business. Black and Decker and Craftsman... they're for anger.
You too, Doug.
I try.
Apparently, I got it from my dad. The stories he can tell...
