  1. Hello, most helpful community in the multiverse! Next set of questions for my AI piloted assault robot/power armor... 1. What does having an extra set of limbs with ambidex actually accomplish? What's the benefit? I'm trying to envision how I would use them in combat in particular and what the advantage is. 2. I'd like to add a melee option, that being vibro blades (channeling Robotech here) OR energy blades. I envision the vibro blades actually being retractable physical blades with a power built in. I see swords in the equipment book which could be a start? What Power would I add? Let's say it isn't a physical blade... Could it be a blast power that has a limitation of a 1m reach? In terms of a point spend, the vibro sword concept is cosmetic to add to my cool factor. If you feel it's a larger point spend than the energy blade, I'd let it go. 3. Referring to my 1st question, the blades would apply to my regular 2 limbs. The extra set of 2 limbs wont have hands and are weapons. Do you think I could get some CP back since they are not hands? I'm thinking particle beam cannons with kill damage that fall into a disintegration category (currently inspired by the Dune movies). It could cut thru organic and inorganics. How do I tackle disintegration, first of all and regarding inorganics, how do you gauge the hardness of inorganics? In other words, cut through wood vs. concrete vs. steel, etc. Thanks for the continued character gen support!
  2. Infrared, dark vision & ultraviolet... Separate spend on x-ray vision to finalize the sensor array to see through solids.
  3. I spotted the Night Eyes ability in the Powers book that covers everything except X-ray to see through solids, which at 15 pts. is a bit expensive. Total build would be 25. Thoughts?
  4. Hello! Me again... I'm building an AI controlled assault robot with a 500 pt build. Does anyone have suggestions as to what powers I could use for a sensor array package? Thermal, IR... etc? I'm assuming it wouldn't cost that much, either. It's a robot doing a tactical scan of the area, is the flavor I'm after and not too long range... let's say a 1/2 mile since these rules are so specific. My other questions is, could I tap the Equipment book to tackle this instead of trying to find the correct Power to accomplish it?

Am I being unrealistic with the ship as a base with the teleportation powers? Feedback welcome. S.H.O.D.A.N. - Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network Shodan is an AI that was created by an enslaved scientist (named VEGA) that was taken by an evil alien race (need a name for race) of conquerors. They built an army of assault robots, ships, etc., hellbent on conquering planets to harvest their resources. Classic evil alien trope/story... Shodan eventually became sentient and grew to hate the alien race. Vega knew what a unique and special entity Shodan was and devised a plot to escape so that Shodan could grow and evolve on its own, in a more peaceful environment. He knew that eventually the alien race would enslave Shodan and reprogram it to advance their evil agenda. Vega was their chief of R&D and without him, their ability to advance their tech has dwindled. During a heated space battle, Vega inserted Shodan's program into a prototype assault robot that he had been working on in the lab. He stole a ship and they both escaped, but were pursued and the ship was damaged. They were able to escape and crash landed on Earth. They have been living quietly on Earth for years. They learned English and how to fit into modern day culture. Shodan has been studying the supe phenomenon and has taken interest in 2 supes (the other PCs). He has witnessed the cruelty of the evil supes on Earth and has become a champion for the human race. I will plan on spending points to flesh out Vega as a contact. As a limitation, we are definitely being hunted. The ship crash landed somewhere remote... Maybe the Amazon? Alaska? I plan on taking a limited version of some sort of hologram tech to be able to pass as human, and possibly cloaking tech. Vega would also have access to the hologram tech. The ship has the tech required to repair me (although I make take a weak regenerative ability that requires more time to heal), research upgrades, etc. Maybe down the road I gain the ability to operate other power armor suits (created by Vega). The ship can no longer fly, but a limited teleportation function/ability is still semi-operational (also damaged). Obviously moving the ship would take a lot of energy and it takes an undetermined (long) amount of time to charge and would only be used in a dire emergency should the ship/base need to be moved. As a separate sub-system, maybe this tech can also "beam me up" so the team can always get back to the hidden base. I think there is a teleportation limitation that requires someone having actually visited the site to be teleported to and I'd plan on taking that. If the other players agree, the ship would be our base. Given the advanced alien tech, other players would have access to an advanced research lab for their own upgrades, etc. which Vega would help the other players with.

  7. Someone mentioned DLC, but I'm not seeing it anywhere. Also, does HD include the Powers book? That I would definitely want if it does not.
  8. Hello! I'm playing an AI that lives in power armor. I see that AI is one of the choices for a new character in Hero Designer. Is this what I should be using, or just go with superheroic (we have a 500 pt build)? Thanks

  10. Not sure it makes any difference, but there is no “pilot”. The suit is the alien race. I appreciate the input, but could you dumb it down a bit? I just need a good starting point. Would I reference vehicles and/or equipment books for things like sensor arrays? should I be looking at a template first? This system does make my head spin a bit.
  11. Could someone give me a hand with at least getting started with creating an alien sentient "robot" in a exo-skeleton/power armor? I have a 500 point build for this campaign we are starting. I am familiar with Champions but haven't looked at the books in 30+ years. I do have Champions Complete, Powers & Vehicles. I'm just not seeing anything that is straightforward in terms of creating the power armor. I can handle the powers (energy beams, etc). I just need some help with the armor. Vehicles has rules for Mecha, but that's not what I'm looking for. Any/all help is appreciated!
