  1. Re: Would you allow this?

    Hugh,

It's not implied it's something he paid points for. The sticky part is he didn't know what he would be changing into. He knew it was a type of dog because the criminology tests revealed that. But, I'm looking to decide if he needs to have seen it or not to change into it. Or should he have to buy an enhanced sense like you stated.

Cellular: Shape Shift ordinarily only affects the

    character’s outward appearance (broadly speaking).

His basic identifying characteristics — DNA,

fingerprints, retina prints, and the like — remain

unchanged. With this +10 Character Points Adder,

Shape Shift works down to the most minute levels

of a character’s body. His DNA, fingerprints, retina

prints, and so forth all change (though the character

needs Imitation to make them mimic those of someone

    else).

He has imitation too. His shapeshift costed 90pts.

  2. A metamorph player in our group has shapeshift. He has almost every option in it including Cellular (has to touch the subject to imitate DNA.) During an investigation they find an unusual hair. He picks it up and trys to find out what it is by using the DNA in the hair. Would you allow him to shape shift into the appearance of the creature based in the DNA in the hair?

  3. Re: 6th Edition Hero System

Precisely. With a simpler system, you could leave your laptop at home.

The creation of inits for on the fly combatants or when not using a computer takes up valuable time. Even prepared encounters require valuable GM time, especially if he does not have all of the combatants on a computer.

It's not a hard concept, it's just a pain in the butt one.

I have got to say I'm sticking to 5ER. I held out until this year to buy 5th ed. my players have bought their own books now. It's jammed packed with everything you need to play a game. The types of things I would like to see don't require a new rulebook.

As far as the laptop goes. I do bring mine but what I have found is I only use it to look up things in my pdf books. It's a crutch, the game before last I forgot to bring my power cord. My battery isn't strong (it only last an hour.) So I left it turned off except for an occasional look up.

I don't even use a spread sheet. I know what my villans speeds and dex are. I just count off phases. The players just say "me" when their phase hits.

Instead of a completly new version how about an "Ultimate Optional Rules" book.

  4. Have any of you made crib sheets of "special" combat manuevers? Like rules for sweep and grab, ect...

If so can I see yours? If not I guess i'll loose some sleep before the game. I think for me it will speed up my game to have the manuevers cut down to quick blurbs.

  5. Re: Speedster Area Attack

So this is what it looks like: +5 1/2 HA (8d6 total) AOE 16" (Any Area +1, Selective +1/4, x4 Area +1/2, Must Pass Through intervening hexes -1/4, Ends up where he started -1/2) 43pts

That allows him to run around the room in a blur smacking various people.

As far as stretching. I like the idea but it only effects one guy for the grab and I can half move and pretty much reach anyone I need to. I guess if I wanted to figure out how to run around and disarm everyone at once I can do tk at autofire...lol. Buts thats going outside of the scope of this Q.

    Thanks for all your help!

  6. I have a multipower that has various punches with different advantages like +6 1/2 HA AP. I have a 13 str. So I would get 9d6 together. I want to buy variable Advantage for my 13 str (limited group based on multipower, only used with multipower.)

My question is this. one of the slots just has a normal HA with no advantages. If I understand the rule right....doesn't my 13 str have to have an advantage on it?

  7. I'm trying to build an area effect attack for a speedster to represent him running around in a certain area and hitting a bunch of guys. So far I have +5d6 HA / AOE 6+1 hexes. I want him to use movement (running while doing this). This power is in the mulipower framework. I can't use link because his running is in a slot in a another mulipower framework. So how can I do this legally. I thought restrainable is reasonable and possibly take full phase to use (representing a half move action and attack). Like zipping around so fast you didn't see him move. Any Ideas to do this? Please don't refer me to ultimate speedster because I don't have it yet. I have already spent a gazillion dollars on Hero products this month and my disadvantages prevent me from buying more. (DNPC - WIFE 14 or less/Competent - Psych Limitation: Must clear purchases through High Command (Wife) Common, Strong). So, if I buy ultimate speedster I will have to add Soc Limitation: Destitute and Psych Lim Alchoholic to replace my wife disadvantages. :)

  8. I want a character who can shapeshift to imitate people by just looking at them. That part is easy.

The part I am unsure about is I want them to be able to take on the cellular level only if they touch the subject first.

Should I just take the 10 pts for cellular and apply the limitation to that?
