  1. [pensive] I 'think' so. Let me see if I understand this correctly. You're saying, I can make the 'third' sister the base, and apply 'not when duplicated' disadvantages to the 'bulk' of the powers that the Gestalt form has, in order to simulate the gestalt splitting into three people. But, doesn't that mean, that, when combined, the gestalt being 'Sisterhood' will 'look' like the third sister (which is the base form)? See, Sisterhood doesn't look like any of the three women, which is why I thought I needed the multiform as well. I'll admit, sometimes the complexities of duplication and Multiform confuse me a little, which is one of the reasons I posted to the board, to see, in addition, if I'm even building it correctly. [smiles] Thanks for you time. [smiles and waves] Ragdoll.
  2. M'hm. [smiles] I thought of this idea, in regards to the suplication and Multiform, but I had to discard it due to the special effects of the Gestalt. All three sisters looks different, but none of them 'looks' like the Gestalt being Sisterhood. So, unfortunately, I had to design it as this: When Sisterhood breaks into her component parts. She creates two of the sisters through 'duplication' and at the same time becomes the third sister through Multiform. Each of the three sisters has some of the powers that the gestalt being has. One has the force blast, force field and wall powers. Another has the flight and movement abilties, and the third the raw strength and resistant defenses. M'hm, I was concerned about defenses. But I felt since all the powers were Ultraslots..she couldn't just use it all the time. But, I like you idea of reduction, and perhaps adding something in terms of other options. I'll see what I can do with things point wise, though I'm purposefully trying to keep the design in the starting character 350 point range. [smiles] Another thing that troubles me is the skills. She has a huge assortment due to the fact that she's 'supposed' to have all the knowledge of the three sisters. Since, I wanted each sister to be unique, they all have differing skills sets. But, wow, the points add up. [smiles] Can a Variable Power pool be used to call up 'skills'? Or does that just apply to powers? [wonders]. I was thinking it might be neat to have a 'small' variable Power pool, that's limited to only skills any of the three sisters know. And keep it low enough that she can't call them 'all' up, just a few, to simulate her rumaging through the collective minds and pulling them into the front of her mind. This is 'really' exciting. Thank you 'so much' for the great input, it's really given me some interesting ideas on how to improve on this design a bit. [smiles] Thanks for your time! [smiles and waves] Ragdoll.
  3. [polite smile] I said 'idealized womanhood', not 'idealized Barbiehood'. Does anyone else have any comments? [smiles, asks] Ragdoll.
  4. Hi! [smiles] I've been experimenting with this character idea for quite sometimes. I put it away for a while, and I decided to come back to it. The history is 'sketchy' since it's not meant to be a rounded character, and more of an experiment in design. The character centers around three women, 'sisters', that upon being exposed to a magickal accident, were 'fused' into the embodiment of an idealized concept of womanhood. A strong, confident woman, able to be sensitive, but her own person at the same time. While not an ultra feminist, she is quite liberal minded, and certianly speaks her mind. Sisterhood's 'component' parts, on the other hand, are less then ideal. They argue with one another 'constantly', and their's certianly lots of infighting. But they are sisters and would be there for eath other in time of need. The gestalt being 'Sisterhood' is just their collective subconcious desires and needs made manifest. The component parts are 150 point characters, but I'll only post the 'Sisterhood' gestalt form unless asked to post her component parts. 5. Hi! [smiles] I have a question about a character I'm trying to make. She's an enhanced human with hyper intelligence, and a growth problem. She's only 3 ft tall. She wanted to get into the super hero scene, and though she could have made a 3 foot tall suit of power armor, she wanted people to take her seriously, so, she went to the other end of the spectrum and constructed Behemoth. Behemoth's a 9 foot tall suit of battle armor, that she controls and operates from the chest cavity. The only thing I'm wondering is, the new 5th ed rules seem to favor always on, inherent shrinking and growth powers as plain physical disadvantages, rather then just buying the power itself. So, I was wondering, if my hyper intellect battle suit character is 3 feet tall 'normally', then..do I put Physical Limitation: 3 ft tall...and then a second Physical limitation as 9 ft. tall? Of course, she's only 9 feet tall when she's in the battlesuit, and it's not 'her' perse, it's the battlesuit. So...I'm wondering how I go about it. The battlesuit is OIF, and can be damaged so...[puzzled] I'm a little stumped. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks! [smiles and waves] Ragdoll
  6. Gestalt character assistance? [smiles] Hi again. Sorry to be such a bother, but I was wondering about this duplication question? See, I'm making these '3' characters that can merge into a gestalt being. One character is strong and resiliant, a second can fly and run at superhuman speeds, and the third can erect powerful force fields and fire damaging force blasts. So, they can combine to become one being with all the powers of the '3' The way I 'thought' about it was It is a 'base' character with the powers of 'duplication' with 2 duplicates. In addition to this power, the character also has 'multiform' to simulate the 'new' gestalt character. The Gestalt form is the 'multiform'. When the gestalt ends, duplication creates the two other people that make up the gestalt and at the same time, the multiform switches to the 'alternate' character when she's not using multiform. So, you have '3' characters. When they want to combine, they do, and multiform activates again. The only problem is..the two duplicates are quite different from the other character, as really they represent 'independant' people. [admits] So, does the +1 modifier for having characters that are completely different from the base apply? [asks] Any help is appreciated. Thanks for you time! [smiles and waves]
  7. Hi. [smiles] I recently reregistered to the boards, and I've been a long time fan of HERO. I've been trying to build a certain character (for fun), and I'm not sure about the new 5th ed duplication rules? I was wondering if anyone might know the answer to this question: It says their is a +1 multiplier to the cost of Duplication if the duplicates are different from the main. Well..the main is a metahuman with all the powers of the three counterparts (the third person is handled via multiform but that's not relevant to the question. Just for clarification). But the other two are created through duplication. I'm using duplication as a 'special' effect as how all three can combine to form the gestalt character. So, most of the time, they are duplicated. When they want to become the gestalt they just recombine, and the multiform is activated. My problem is..do the two duplicates 'count' as being completely different so the need for a +1 modifier is warranted? One duplicate has flight and super running ability, her dexterity score is the gestalt's dexterity score. The second duplicate has a force field and energy blast powers. Her intellect is the gestalt character's intellect. The gestalt has superhuman strength, and constitution, resistant defenses, high physical and energy defense scores, and differing stun, endurance, recover etc. scores. The gestalt has all of the other two's abilities inside a multipower framework. The gesalt can fly, run at superhuman speeds, erect a force field, or fire an energy blast. But only one power at a time, since the slots are all ultra slots. So, does my duplication power warrant a +1 power advantage? [wonders] Thanks for your time. [smiles and waves] Ragdoll
