  1. Re: Black aura power. Ugh. I hadn't thought of that. Plus I figured with it just turning on and turning off like an instant power. Hrm.
  2. Just an idea I had for a character. Here's the basic premise. The character can desolidify for a moment and pass through an object or person. In their way the person or object is left in a field of darkness. It moves with the thing if it's mobile. While inside it, the person suffers a continuing ego and end drain until the person that left it in it's wake is unconcious or stunned. Here's how I've set it up. I looking for an advice on what may be wrong with it. Darkness to Sight Group and Hearing (single sense); 0 END +1/2, Usable as an Attack +1, Uncontrolled +1/2, Trigger +1/4 (when you phase through something). [42 points] Drain 1d6 vs. STUN, EGO, and END +1/2, 0 END +1/2, Continuous +1, Uncontrolled +1/2, 5 points/min +1/4, Linked to Darkness -1/4 [30 points] Desolidification 0 END +1/2, Instant Power from Constant Power -1 [30 points] Is this built correctly? Comments appreciated.
  3. Re: Help with naming a spider themed character.
  4. Re: Mind Control EGO+10 and EGO+20 Examples I can probably come up with a +10 effect. Take the mentalist from Eurostar and the big brick guy from the same team. If the brick is coming for the mentalist, she could do something like. "Hey, why on earth are you going after her? She's nothing compared to the threat that the brick represents. He could kill dozens of people, he could kill your teammates. Stop him! Stop him before it's too late! Hit him hard and don't let up! Putting him down is the most important thing right now!" I think that'd easily qualify as a +10 effect. It's something the team's hero brick wouldn't mind doing anyway. It's just under normal circumstances, he might think to put the mentalist out of commission first.
  5. Re: Help with naming a spider themed character. Okay a lil update. I just posted to this thread http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1832245#post1832245 I picked out a theme music for my hero. I dunno why, but this idea really appeals to me. It's the best idea I've had for a hero in a long while. I'm growing super attached to it.
  6. Re: Your character's theme music! Okay, I have a hero in the works. A mystic hero that transforms into a man sized spider. He looks like a tarantula in appearance. Not a man spider you understand but literally a normal looking spider, except he's the size of a man! I find this music oddly appropriate for him for some reason.
  7. Re: Help with naming a spider themed character. Wow this thread is helpful! =) It's having an added bonus of having me work my way through my horrible fear of spiders. Of course if I see one IRL I'm still reduced to a gibbering mass that'd make Lovecraft proud, but at least now I can look at the pictures without getting a screaming fit. As to what type of spider, I think I'd rather be a bit more 'generic' since it's a mystical origin and I could get away with that. =) I 'like' the look of the tarantula.. it's got a very classic look that many people think of when they think about spiders. I can give it abilities it might normally not have.. web spinning.. (can they spin webs??) and poison or something.. and great speed and leaping.. I know they're not normally able to do it.. but I like the idea of a tough, strong kind of spider with a whole host of abilities, just basing it off the fact that it represents the 'spider' archetype in a mystical sense. I have this image of a trio of bank robbers running to their car and speeding off.. and being chased by this monstrous spider as it scuttles after them by crawling along the buildings and leaping onto trucks and cars and bounding after them, maybe tossing in a web line or something. Another image is of a burgar skulking at night around a technologies building alleyway getting ready for some B & E, and the shadow of a monstrous spider hanging silent above by a line of webbing, ready to drop onto him. Another image is him (or her) climbing on side of a bridge, a tanker truck having crashed into the guardrail, and it's cab is hanging off, the spider leaping onto the side, and sticking to it as it scuttles to the side of the cab and uses it's legs to tear the door off, it (the door goes spinning off to the side and tumbles down into the river below, the horrified driver being quickly saves as the spider wraps him up in a web cocoon, flips him onto it's back and scuttles off onto the bridge, after having secured the truck to the bridge with it's webbing so it won't fall. Another image the inside of a building a hostage situation, viper agents, the squad leader lecturing the hostages, and behind him the wall partially melting away as the spider, outside, sinks it's fangs into the wall and exudes some kind of poison that begins to eat away at it. It busts through the rest of the way and leaps at the Viper Squad leader as he turns in suprise, the hostages all panicking and running every which way! XD Just a few ideas of some of his abilities and how he might use them? =) Thoughts, impressions?
  8. Re: Help with naming a spider themed character. The first one in the pictures submitted by Wolfe looks to be a good model for the kind of spider I had in mine. The second picture looks a bit too.. I dunno .. crab like to me for some reason. =)
  9. Re: Help with naming a spider themed character. Hm, yes, I can see from the above pictures (that I only briefly glanced at, as I'm terrified of spiders. ) would cause a negative reaction on those he (or she) came to save. Though I think it'd be an interesting character trait to work with. How he works to try and overcome his power's inherent fearful look each day. And likely room for lots of comedy as well. I suppose that Distinctive Feature: Man Sized Spider - Not Concealable, Causes Extreme Reaction (fear) would not be uncalled for as a disadvantage?
  10. Well maybe not 'themed' so much as a spider hero. Literally a mystic themed hero with powers granted by Grandmother-Spider from native american tales? I had the idea the hero would have an alternate form. That of a man sized spider. The fear implications alone this would have are pretty daunting for a hero to overcome. After all, it's kinda hard to climb up a burning building, break into a room and rescue people from it when they're screaming at the top of their lungs about the giant man sized spider in the room with them. XD I have other ideas on how to expand his powers.. he could figure out how to shrink down to a normal sized spider, or become even bigger! For starters anyways. What would be a good name for this hero? Any ideas? =)
  11. Re: System Requiremnts? That's the 'low' end? Dear god, I'll never be able to run this. =/
  12. Re: System Requiremnts?
  13. Re: Not "Secret", not "Public", just "Identity" The cynic in me thinks it'd go something like this: Secret ID: You can't be sued. Public ID: You get sued 'CONSTANTLY' Neither Secret nor Public: You get sued, just not constantly.
  14. Re: Hero is TK projection of kid in coma Build it like a normal character. If the hero can come back time after time even if he's blown to bits, give the hero regeneration with only after death or something. Give him a DNPC: The Kid. and a Physical Limitation: Ceases to Exist immediately if DNPC is killed. =)
  15. Re: [Mythos Supers] Hey! What a bang on idea.. we can start with the canon heroes the champions, combine each with some lovecraftion (sp?) horror. I'd never event though of that, that's a fantastic idea! Who wants to do Defender first?
  16. No, I didn't come up with it. I just dug it up over on RPG.net. It sounds like a frighteningly fun campaign, especially with it being October and all. http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=398547 Have a read, and give some feedback if you like. Do you think this sort of setting is viable in HERO? I must admit I like the idea of metahumans with this type of 'singular' origin.

  18. Re: New Character Idea... Not sure yet. Was thinking of making it a character in a villainous campaign perhaps. =)
  19. Had an intensely bizzare dream last night, and it spawned a character concept. The only problem is one aspect is puzzling me. Here's the idea. A cybernetic partial limb. A hand, and forearm. By itself it contains and houses a Structured Energy Force Field (S.E.F.F.) generator inside of it and a powerful Sentient Artificial Intelligence. The hand is incredibly strong. On par with about 75 ST. But it can't lift or punch, it's used mostly to grab, grip, crush and tear damage. It can utilize the S.E.F.F. generator for a number of uses, attack beams, force fields, etc. It's armoured and very tough, around 15/15 defense, and doesn't take stun and can't be stunned. Here's the hardest part. It's an independent entity, it first cripples a victim, shearing off the right hand and forearm of a victim then attaches itself to the stump, inserts nano probes into the arm up the shoulder, into the brain and takes over as primary conciousness. It can detatch at any time and escape, or reattach at it's whim. So how would I 'make' this last part as an ability? Any help is appreciated. =)
  20. Re: WW2 metahuman emergence. I was going to do the following. Start the players out as soldiers, so somewhere below 50+50. And then tack on the added points to allow them to come up to 75+75. =) The cause of the event I was going to tie into the Tunguska Blast and Nicholai Tesla. But the effects won't be felt for decades, or at beginning of WW2.
  21. I've been toying with the idea of running a campaign where metahumans first emerge durring WW2. I'm looking for it to be 'low' powered. More like wild talents, then planet crackers. I was going to have it military themed, using golden age champions with their military packages, etc. What's the most 'realiable' starting point cost for emergence metahumans. I was thinking 50 + 50 for 100. IS that two little? Would 75 + 75 be better? Any help is appreciated, thanks. =) PS: I'm going more for 'gritty' realism rather that over the top four color. =)
  22. Specifically, was curious if other characters could ride inside a character that transforms into a space ship and flies off with them inside? Would Shapeship: space ship and levels of growth be sufficient?
  23. Re: Anyone have write ups of the Asesinos? Spider Monkey and The Maine are both pretty interesting characters. I took spider monkey's write up and developed a sort of heroic version of it. A kind of alien mental parasite taking host inside a research monkey and gradually raising the creature's intelligence, and awareness all the while it's mental abilities continue to grow. Maine I'm not sure about. I had an idea about someone trapped inside a vaguely techno-organic shell, that doesn't always work the way it's supposed to. But I dunno. =)
