  1. Re: Spell Fu!

I would be most concerned about Damage Classes on the Martial Art. By limiting the number of DCs they could take, you would minimize Advantage abuse. In fact, I Think it would be entirely acceptable to allow no DCs for Arcane Martial Arts Styles.

  2. Re: Spell Fu!

    Here's my pass at this...

    Arcane Combat Martial Arts

For millenia spellcasters have developed tricks to give them an edge when dealing with more powerful spellslingers. A number of abilities have become useful in magic duels. From increased accuracy with ranged spells to zapping an artifact from the clutches of an enemy to precision placing of minor evocations to deprive a rival mage the ability to speak arcane words of power, the Arcane Martial Artist can use improved accuracy and discipline to win battles against more experienced foes.

    Arcane Combat Martial Arts

    4 1) Quick Shot: 1/2 Phase, +1 OCV, +0 DCV, Range +0, Strike, +2 DC

    4 2) Basic Shot: 1/2 Phase, +0 OCV, +0 DCV, Range +2, Strike, +2 DC

    4 3) Offensive Shot: 1/2 Phase, -1 OCV, -1 DCV, Range +0, Strike, +4 DC

    4 4) Butterfingers: 1/2 Phase, +0 OCV, +0 DCV, Range +0, Disarm, +3 DC to Disarm

    4 5) Watch Your Footing: 1/2 Phase, -1 OCV, -1 DCV, Range +2, v/5, Target Falls

    4 6) Silencer: 1/2 Phase, -1 OCV, +1 DCV, Range +0, 1D6 Flash v. Speech

    0 7) Weapon Element: Spells

    24 Total Martial Arts Cost

  3. Re: Opinion: EuroStar

I agree that the darts should effect Gravitar, regardless of SFX. SFX are not a way to get around a properly paid for NND She does however have Missile Deflection that could be used against the darts.

PS: Apologies for signature theme theft to Keith

  4. Re: Opinion: EuroStar

...How about an AI? Yes, an AI as a villain? It could drive the super-tank getaway vehicle, manage their base and communications, download itself into combat robots........ and pose even more insidious threats........

Tell me Mr. Hero........ how do you stop a virus? (You can of course, but the PCs faces would be priceless)

Of course some sort of failsafe on it would be needed, but otherwise I think that would be quite neat.

I think this is the next logical step for Mechanon. A completely disembodied AI that can inhabit multiple robotic devices simultaneously. Not that Mechanon has anything to do with Eurostar, but then again this thread seems to be degenerating by the minute anyway.

  5. Re: Who is your favourite Supervillain that can tackle the whole team?

Oh' date=' please, can you give a more detailed write up?[/quote']

Are you saying he is already very detailed or asking for details?

In either event, what I meant was that he had additional Bases he used as traps (not included in his CKC write up) and a very liberal use of his VPP to create the weapons and traps that made us look like hacks.

  6. Re: Who is your favourite Supervillain that can tackle the whole team?

    Utility

With many play sessions of recon, this normal guy trashed our group but good using all of our Disads against us and reminding us that we were not living gods.

Of course this required use of traps and equipment his CKC write up doesn't have, but it made perfect sense as we watched from our individual restraining devices as he played hours of footage he'd collected and studied on us.

  7. Re: Opinion: EuroStar

To me it's more interesting to see a spiteful Gravitar create her own villain group to compete against Eurostar. Gravitar's group becomes the perfect place for Shamrock and a few others people wanted to see join Eurostar. Now you have Eurostorm committing crimes and appearing on scene to foil Eurostar crimes at every outting. You have a chance to add a new villain group to the CU and create real tention at the same time.

This would also be a great way to strengthen the current Eurostar roster.

    1) Gravitar forms Eurostorm with Shamrock, Pantera, White Flame & The Whip II

    2) Eurostorm shows up to trash Eurostar a couple of times before Gravitar's new team gets tired of her using them for her own purposes.

    3) Fiacho contacts them independently using members of Eurostar to recruit thier countrymen. Scorpia appeals to Shamrock, Bora to Pantera, Mentalla to the White Flame & Fiacho to The Whip II

    4) The next time the 2 Euro villain groups meet, the fix is in and the combined villains trounce Gravitar.

Maybe Fiacho gets the PCs involved to help soften up Gravitar. Would they work with a political madman like Fiacho if it means capturing the most dangerous mutant in the world? Of course, Fiacho turns on the PCs the minute Gravitar is secured and increases his status by eliminating an opponent who has embarassed him in the past as well as some prominent heroes.

  8. Re: The New Avengers - Good Or Bad, Threat Or Menace?

I just hope that some editor over at Marvel or even Jose Quesada himself gets his head out of the clouds and gets a hold on Cap. Stan Lee used to oversee all of the Cap editors to make sure he didn't stray. Since The Ultimates and the Marvel Knights Cap series it seems like they want to make him a naive, jaded, grumpy old warhorse instead of the idealistic icon and consumate professional crimefighter he was for 50+ years. I worry mostly because Marvel has there own film slate now and the rights to the Cap movie again and Avi Arad (Exec Producer on all Marvel Films) has stated that he doesn't much care for the character, but really wants to make a Cap movie. That scares the hell out of me.

  9. Re: Opinion: EuroStar

After the first couple of times in my local campaign that Bora bailed out Eurostar, my players began targeting her specifically to prevent the escape. So in my campaign Fiacho made teleportation devices (much like the 4th Ed. PSI had) for the entire team so I hadn't thought of another transport character.

Also, even though they have Durak, I would love to see Shamrock in Eurostar with more probability control (from the USPD) powers. A slightly weaker brick with boxing, probability control and an obvious connection to Scorpia seems like a great fit for that team.

  10. Re: Opinion: EuroStar

Why doesn't DOJ run contests like this? Imagine a "Recruit the Next Member of Eurostar" contest. That would be great!

Anyway, I like the Atlantean idea and I would use that as the backstory for whichever archetype you choose. Such as an Atlantean Duplicator UOO named Frenzy, an Atlantean Speedster named Torpedo, or an Atlantean Water Elemental named Undertow.

  11. Re: My champions campaign so far

Sounds like great fun, thanks for posting it. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind indulging me. How much of the plot was planned out ahead of time? Is Pyre's player a jerk or is the character flawed and the examples of his jerkish behavior simply good role-playing? If you don't want to answer these questions in a public forum that your players might read, feel free to PM me through the boards.

  12. Re: [Creative] Need help!

Okay. How about if a third party that fears them has incited them into war...

If you go this way, the Secret Gov Org that created the heroes definitely should be the third party forcing them to war. Perhaps the PC's forefathers were the ones who set the war in motion (even if they had to travel back in time to do it). This fits nicely into your aforementioned "X-Files-ish" campaign, your PCs may work for the Gov, but don't necessarily have to trust the Gov.

  13. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game

Enforcer - I have a Gforce 4 5600, not the best. I do have 1 GB of RAM which has improved the graphics since I installed it.

Sv - This character is my global ID and one of my Beta characters, Battlestar. He is a malvan gladiator from my local Champions games. In CoH, he's come to Paragon because he chased the Rikti here. As far as pointed ears go, I haven't tried to make a hero with pointed ears since I made him, that would be wierd if the option was just removed.

  14. Re: Superhero Images

I have been thinking about this all afternoon, and I believe the aforementioned 4th Ed Sourcebook was Alien Enemies. Could any of your more prodigious Herophiles help me out here?

The Champ character was the first brick I ever remember seeing with Missile Deflection as a bouncing bullets SFX.

  15. Re: For FREEDOM!

Ah' date=' yes, "Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich." Has anyone [b']else[/b] played it? (I haven't, but am curious.)

What, my review isn't good enough for you Kirby? !? I see how you are. :P

j/k hopefully it was obvious :D

  16. Re: Team Base... Who pays?

My way of handling it is somewhat odd

I make everyone pay three points for a perk called member of Team, as a member it gives them access to a base and a vehicle (or fleet of) of my design, the whole thing is if they get a aircraft it might be supersonic or have stealth capabilities but it will not be a combat vehicle, the base might have some defences but again it is not a fortress.

This way if you have a Batman type character who wants to be using vehicles etc...he has to pay for the whole thing instead of using the x2 rule, but still makes the character chip in some

Doesn't sound odd to me at all, in fact I do the same thing. My teams also get a free contact with the Police Lt. in charge of the Superhuman Crimes Task Force (or whatever I decide to call it for that campaign) I guess mediocre minds do think alike.
