  1. So I gave up RPGs for a while after my last group split up, but I'm back and after playing a Hero Version of Traveller that allowed to me to do a much more action movie focused game than any other version I became an advocate of Hero. The thing is I'm having trouble locating the core books in the UK - I have them in PDF, I noticed there were some damaged books in the Hero store and I wondered if Hero Games ships internationally to the UK. Thanks in advance.
  2. Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly? Trust me Enlightened, if your a Traveller and Hero fan you won't be dissapointed, I've played every version of Traveller and the Hero one is my favourite, I just wish I'd bought PDFs of the other Traveller Hero products apart from the two main books, I hadn't sat down and read the 5th edition rulebook, only skimmed and it looked to crunchy for my tastes, after sitting down and working my way through 5th ed I realised it was a simple, logical system that could build anything. I still buy the Mongoose stuff and have run it and had fun, but Hero suits my style of game better. I think its the only version apart from classic thats not full of errata as well.
  3. Re: Ran my first Hero game today Thanks for the warm welcome, I've been a lurker for a while and think I made a couple of posts in the Star Hero section regarding Traveller. I've noticed the community seems really friendly and eager to help, so if I have any questions I'll shout up. It was the first time I've attempted to run a game using e-books and found it really easy to look up a rule or jump to a table I needed. Of course dead tree format has it positives as well, its nice to sit and relax with a book.
  4. Not sure if this is the right section of the board to post in so if I've made a boo boo can an admin move it. Anyway ran my first game of Hero today using the 5th edition pdfs I've had for a while that I bought off DTRPG and it went really well. I played a one on one Traveller scenario using the Comstar Traveller Hero PDFs that are sadly no longer available. It was a toss up between Hero or Mongoose Traveller and eventually I settled on Hero because it seemed to offer a more action/adventure type of system that we prefer and I was right. A mysterious patron (aren't they always?) hired the the PC to penetrate a SuSAG megacorporation research facility on Carse in the Spinward Marches. Everything seemed to be going well they had hacked the facilities computer, downloaded the data and got samples of the illegal psi boosting drug. They had a few firefights with the guards (which were fairly weak but still managed to do some damage by weight of numbers) and were getting out when the final guard got a lucky shot hit the PC in the head, nearly killed him and rendered him seriously unconscious. I'm going to have the SuSAG medics patch him up and have him carted off to a corporate security interrogation facility where he'll have to escape from for the next scenario. Combat was simple once we got the hang of it and flowed freely. I'd always been a bit intimidated by Hero as people always said it was crunchy. In my experience the crunch was minimal and easy to figure out. I'd been looking to use the same system for different genres of gaming and it looks like Hero will be my choice from now on.
  5. Re: Traveller Hero As I already have the PDFs and run all my games off computer, so I won't be buying. However I just wanted to say well done to Shadowcat for doing this for the community. On a side note I've nearly finished my first Traveller Hero scenario, just got to stat up the NPCs.
  6. Re: Traveller Hero My apologies Duke, I should have expressed myself better. I think its shame after spending the last couple of days devouring nearly 600 pages of the 5th edition Hero rulebook I'm really into the system. I want to use the same sytem for all my games and Hero is absolutely beautiful, you can create anything from a puppy dog to a starship using the same system. As I said above I really can't see why MWM doesn't at least let the Traveller Hero PDFs be sold, you can get other versions of Traveller that way. But then again I don't know the terms of his contract with Mongoose.
  7. Re: Traveller Hero I feel sorry for you guys who've lost out on your Traveller Hero pdfs from ComStar. I only have a couple of players and wanted to run a Traveller game that is a bit more heroic then MGT in which the PCs have better skills and more survivability than Mongoose Traveller allows. I dug out my Hero 5th edition pdf and looked through it (the system always intimidated me with, it seemed really crunchy) and after reading through it was really impressed by the simple internal logic of a system that could allow me to create anything I wanted with pretty much one book. Luckily enough I'd bought my Traveller Hero pdfs off drivethru and their still available for download. As for Marc Miller not wanting to many versions of Traveller out there he's quite willing to sell The New Era and Errata ridden copies of Megatraveller and T4 for download so I don't know why he won't let 3rd party copies of Traveller Hero out on the market. I guess its time for fan resources to take up the banner that ComStar had to let fall. Just my 0.2 cr.
