  1. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread I am changing the tattoo...
  2. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Well for those of you who took part in the Contest I recently held, here is Samantha Arken... It is a work in progress... Still have to add a starship fighter then inks and color in photoshop, with a real space-y starfield background... But I decided to show you the pencils so far anyways... Oh I am thinking of adding the text "BITCH ON BOARD" on the underside of the planet on her tattoo... ;D I designed the tattoo so please blame me if it looks lame. haha. The lower planet on the tattoo is going to look like a planet, the other circles will just be different colors with the letters UPF in them. Check out Samantha Arken's background if you want to know why certain details were added in the drawing. Hope you like.
  3. Re: in the spirit of christmas! Dude, you are totally on the right track for your style of drawing. I can't wait to see your new painting style evolve. One other thing I thought of. If you like the real real messy look, sometimes throwing in MORE different colors in the mix, makes it work. Like subtle greens and yellows for the skin (or blues and purples, depending on whether you want a cold or hot looking drawing shadow wise), all smooshed in there... Anyways, food for thought. I am glad you are doing this, and I am rooting for you. I am struggling with my own art at the moment, trying to figure out how to improve my style... However, the piece I am working on right now, might be the missing link... Should be done colors tomorrow. Just finishing up pencils, then inking. I might post the pencils. I hesitate though, because people don't realize, that you draw things with a final outcome in mind in the coloring. So you tend to shade a lot less, because you plan to shade using the coloring... Anyways, I am babbling. Good job Dr. D. Can't wait to see more.
  4. Re: How to encourage RP? At the end of every session, offer more XP for role-playing, than fighting.... Always worked for us in our D&D 3.5 sessions (which to me was just a max/min hack and slash version of AD&D). Of course, now in Champions we do not have that problem, it is usually the opposite. Too much role-playing not enough tactics...
  5. Re: Dr Zero's Art Thread Hey Zero, you found my second home! (This is HowwwwL). Welcome!!!
  6. Re: in the spirit of christmas! Okay I don't normally critique, because people sometimes take it the wrong way (they take it personally like you are insulting them or something), but I think you are on the right track with this style, so I am going to give you some constructive criticism. So take it for what it is worth. I wouldn't waste my time offering criticism if I didn't think you were on the right track. I like the painting style. At one time I thought about doing something similar, but with my current style of drawing, it just didn't look right. But with yours, it is the perfect style to use. I think if you used a different brush shape the coloring would look better. With the brush you are using here, it looks a little messy. I am not sure what program you are using to color with, but Photoshop allows for custom brushes, and has many built in one to choose from. The style of brush you use can totally change how a painting looks. I know you are going for messy, but this looks like it is out of control messy, which distracts the viewer too much, in my opinion. I think this is mostly due to the brush shape you are using. Also, I would try lowering the opacity a teeny bit on the higher level layers (highlighting). This will allow for some midlevel incidental tonal blending which will create the illusion of more depth/mass in the illustration. Also two little nitpicky things: 1) the background is showing through the character's jacket, it makes his arm look thinner than it should be, and doesn't make him look solid enough (have mass) to me. 2) White. I think you should only use pure white on things that shine, or on metals for reflection. I don't think pure white has its place anywhere else in a painting. It works on the sunglasses (reflection), but it doesn't work on the jacket or the pants. I don't think you were intending to have reflections there, and thus it looks out of place. Otherwise, I think you are headed totally in the right direction with this style.
  7. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread It is El Diablo and Wise Owl from the DC Universe.
  8. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread LOL. You gotta stop that!
  9. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Here is a drawing I did today... I am just not happy with my stuff these days...
  10. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread I've been unhappy with my drawing style as of late. So I decided to try drawing in my old style, prior to teaching myself how to line draw... I am hoping I can create a whole new style, maybe a hybrid... Anyways, let me know what you think...

  17. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread lmao!
  18. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Thor Banner Pencils... Any colorists out there that want to color fun stuff???
  19. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Yes, that would be fine, same for those who use Copic Markers, or the like.
  20. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Hi guys. For the Marvel2, DC2, and DC3 fan fiction sites, we are also looking for colorists. Anyone who loves playing with Photoshop, Corel Painter, or any other program, and want to color superhero covers, let me know!!!
  21. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Haha! Here is my latest Banner for the Marvel2.0 Fan Fiction site...
  22. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread It is sloppy shading. I meant it to be solid black area there, with inks and color, not meant to be a stand alone pencil piece. She is not wearing skin tight jeans. But, if you are hoping she is a tranny, it is fantasy! Give 'er!
  23. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread P.S. I am also looking for colorists, who don't pencil, but are decent with coloring software like Photoshop, Painter, etc..
  24. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread As fate would have it, I took over the Marvel Fan Fiction site. We have 15-20 writers, and a bunch of artists on the site. THe idea of the art area is to provide a cover for each of the stories the writers do each month. I am in charge of the site, and especially the art department of the site. I am looking for any artists interested in working with me to provide covers for these great writers. There is one story per month, so if you are able to draw a whole whopping picture every 30 days, or even once in a while, every little bit would help!! If you like drawing Marvel superheroes, and want to help me out, by drawing some for our fan fiction community, then send me a PM! YOu do not have to be pro! We are all amateurs there and have people of varying skill level. Please send me a PM if you are interested in this sort of thing. Thanks a bunch!
  25. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Oh here is our Fan Fiction site for those who care... http://marvel2universe.proboards.com/index.cgi
