Warning: This charater is still a 'work in progress', in that her final form may differ slightly than this thread would show. The final form in the upcoming fan publication The Book Of The Wicked will be her 'official' form. Meanwhile, please look this charater over and be free to coment on her as you like. Also note that she is supose to be an NPC hero.

It would also be helpful if someone could doublecheck my math.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Interesting character, I love the nanomachine angle. There appear to be some math errors, I will probably work on them later and get back to you with what I find.

Couple of things tho:

Not sure what the focus is for this character. What is the power level for the campaign she would be used in? Her defenses seem rather high compared to your standard 400pt campaign, but her offense is rather low. She is rapidly approaching 700 points. She also, currently, lacks any useful skills. So I am not sure what her role would be in a campaign. If she is supposed to be a non-combatant a writeup isn't really needed. As a combatant she lacks a solid offense, or any real reason for her to be the focus of an attack so she doesn't really make it as a "tank" either. I am going to assume you haven't gotten around to combat skills because she DESPERATELY needs some CSL's with that pistol or she will never hit anything in a standard campaign, much less one around her current point level.

She has a massive 30 INT, but nothing to do with it. Some science skills would definitely be appropriate (I am assuming this is more you haven't gotten to yet). For your language skills at this point I would probably give her "KS: Languages" and then buy her Universal Translator with Requires a "KS: Languages" roll to speak any language. She obviously knows so many that there is little reason to list them all, and this gives her a chance to speak pretty much any language required. This seems to be more appropriate than your current long list of known languages.

Aid as healing doesn't work, the "healing" will fade at the normal rate. This needs to be Healing or Regeneration.

I will work on the math and post more later.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Okay, did the math check, few minor errors, two major ones.

Multipower Base Cost: Round .5 in favor of character so 75/2=37.5 = 37

Nural Blaster: Again, round .5 in favor so (4*5)=20*2.5=50/2=25/10=2.5= 2 (Note, you have the sign wrong on Reduced END 0 End on this and the Sustained Fire versions. You did the math right so it was probably a typo but that DOES affect people checking the build so I wanted to point it out.)

Force Field Belt: Way off on this one. (40*3/2)=60*1.75=105/1.5= 70, not sure where 23 came from

You should probably add Dimensional for Timescan on your Communications Badge (adds 5 points)

Nanomachine Healing: Looks like you forgot to apply your limitations (30*1.5)=45/3= 15 (of course I don't think this will work as you intended in the first place but...)

TED Timetravel: There are 27 steps up the timechart you need to get to 50 Billion (counting the first one at 1 turn) (20+20+27)=67*1.25=84/2.25=37

Nanomachine Shifting: Unusual Sense (DNA) is not needed with Cellular (that is exactly what Cellular does) (reduces cost by 2)

Your original Powers cost addition was correct, based upon the totals you had for each power. The Corrections I made in MATH ONLY gives you a total of:

380-1-1+47-30+2=397

If you agree with the two build errors, that makes your final Powers Cost 400

Skills Cost = 25 pts

Characteristics: 232

Powers: 380

Perks: 22

Talents: 16

Skills: 25

Total Character Cost: 675

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Without giving too much away about the kind of character Paradox is, let's just say that she's like

Darien Lambert in certain respects.

Major Tom 2009

I have no ideal who he is? I always decribed her as a wierd cross of the charaters The Doctor, Barbrella, and Gwendolin (of the John Willy bondage comic strip).

That name makes me think of the bisexual time travler of the 'new' Doctor Who series thoe...or would it be more corect to call him Omnisexual? Xenosexual?

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Darien Lambert was the main character in the television series Time Trax, and he was a cop from

a future time period in the U.S. where certain things had become illegal (fast food, electing any

non-minority candidate to the Presidency, etc.). When a brilliant but evil scientist came up with a

method for time travel, he sold opportunities to wanted criminals as well as to those already in

prison to escape to the past (the past being the late 20th Century); eventually, his crimes were

discovered and he wound up using his technology to escape into the past himself.

Lambert volunteered to go into the past himself in order to bring the scientist to justice for his

crimes, as well as to track down all of the criminals who had escaped into the past as well, and

to return them to their own time.

I was thinking it was something along those lines. A really skill based character, who you haven't gotten around to defining skills for yet (hence my questioning of this character's role).

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Your Exotic Dancing and Seductive Struggling should be 4 pts each, or have 15- for the roll

Your Grand Total should be 974 (232 Skills + 400 Powers + 342 S/P/T), 976 if you keep the above at 16-

Not sure if the Affected as Human and Machine class of mind is worth 30 points unless your campaign is loaded to the hilt with Cyberpaths (like nearly every enemy would need to have a mental power that "only affects machine class minds" for this to be an appropriate cost, of course its your campaign not mine.)

Finally you have 240 in complications, if this is supposed to be built on a 400 point character with 75 matching complications as the base then by my math you need 409 "bonus" to cover the difference (974-400-(240-75))

Your Grand Total should be 974 (232 Skills + 400 Powers + 342 S/P/T), 976 if you keep the above at 16-

Noted, and will change if the bonus for Expert is taken into acount.

I don't realy have a campain realy. I think your right...30 points is excesses (unless using Champions Compleat, which makes it only a reminder complication worth 0 points. And since I don't have that book yet...)

Finally you have 240 in complications, if this is supposed to be built on a 400 point character with 75 matching complications as the base then by my math you need 409 "bonus" to cover the difference (974-400-(240-75))

NPC's need to follow the maximum complications per catagory rule also? I never liked that rule myself, but then again, I don't have a campain myself...just presenting charaters for use in other campains.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Meanwhile, while I am digesting what psyber642 posted, I might as well give her orgin.

Orgin/History: My past in complicated, and I have to omit some details which may change the future, so please forgive me in advance. To understand me, you must understand what hapened in my timeline before I was born.

Earth will be a part of a galatic Federation. We explored and colonised other soler systems. We meet frendly races and not so frendly races.

Well, one race delared war upon the Earth, but sent no solders to fight. When we figured out what happened, it was to late...thay decided to fight us using a engenered virus which left human females steral. Even if we recalled all human female spacers, thay could never begin repopulation. My father just invented a time machien. He was given two tasks...to go back in time to colect willing subjects for repopulation, and to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus.

Eventuly, my father met my mothers (yes, I have two of them), and I was born. My father found the way to reverse the virus' effects. And I grew up the first human child born in three years.

Now, I was expected to reproduce and expand the human race. And that was my gole when I picked him up from a bar. I was 16 at the time, and before we got bussy, he wanted to see my father's time machien. Silly me...I fell for it hook, line, and grvity stabaliser. What I diden't know at the time was the guy was a space pirate named Tom Rackham. Soon, I found myself bound tightly while he made off with the machien.

Well, it was my fault. So as soon as I herd about the TED, I joined. And after some traning, here I am.

Quote: Your under arest for time crimes. Come along quietly before...hay, is that a Restraniator 500?

Personality/Motivation: Paradox seems to be exactly what her name sergests. She is a sereous police officer who likes to have fun. She dispises killing, but doese't mind if you kill. She enjoys being bound, and is a strong flirt, but can get sereous when she needs to. And her yen for romantic partners are a motly list ranging from genders and species.

She can be easly distracted, and may even be called flighty. She is only intrested in stoping time related crimes. She loves to stand out in a croud, but knows her job also requiers secrets to be kepted. She is an expert lier (which she does to preserve the future).

She seems unmotivated, but she blames herself for the thieth of her father's Time Ship. So she takes it upon herself to bring Dirty Tom Rackham in and recover it.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Yup, PS Cost 3 pts for CHAR based, (Dex in this case), Base Dex roll for this character is 14-, +2 (to get to 16-) costs +2 points Total is now (3+2=)5 pts, -1 for expert = 4 points.

6e1 suggests 5 pts for "Affected as more than one class of mind" due to the limited number of abilities that would affect the 2nd class without affecting the base (human) class.

And I forgot about the maximum complications per catagory thing, sorry about that.

Tom? You think you can fill eveyone in on the future history of the T(empral)E(nforcment)D(ivision) to wet eveybody's appatite till I can sit down and compleat the charater?

I'll give it a shot.

The Temporal Enforcement Directorate -- an extremely top-secret organization whose mandate is to prevent the

unregulated use of time-travel technology, and to apprehend those who use such technology for criminal ends --

was formed in the early part of the 31st Century, not long after the Kolvel Event* brought about the invasion of

Istvatha V'han. During the chaos caused by the extradimensional invasion, Thomas Rackham -- a former officer

of the Galactic Federation's space forces turned pirate and slaver -- came upon a top-secret research facility in

the course of his raids. Because the security force assigned to the facility was called away to reinforce a critical

location, it -- and the scientists who called it home -- found itself without any protection whatsoever, and thus

easy prey for pirates on a raid. While most of Rackham's pirate crew occupied themselves with sorting out and

taking the more attractive of the female scientists prisoner (to be eventually sold into slavery elsewhere in the

galaxy), the renegade captain and a few other members of his crew searched for exotic technology that could

be sold to certain "interested" parties -- and it was in the course of this search that Rackham found what he

considered the crown jewel of this raid in a hangar: a starship with an experimental drive which would enable

it to not only travel vast distances through hyperspace, but also to travel through time as well. What he didn't

tell his crew was that he'd known about the timeship even before they arrived at the facility, courtesy of the

daughter of the man who'd created it (it gave him no small amount of pleasure to remember the look of abso-

lute frustration on her face after he'd trussed her up, gagged her, and left her helpless in his hotel room).

Deciding to steal the timeship and use it for his own purposes, Rackham had his crew transfer their belongings --

as well as the loot and prisoners they'd taken -- to their new ship. After destroying the emergency evacuation

systems of the facility, Rackham had the reactor of his old ship set to overload before leaving the facility -- and

the scientists who hadn't been taken -- behind to be destroyed. Rackham believed that, by destroying the facility,

there would be no evidence left behind to indicate that the timeship had been stolen; unfortunately for his plan,

however, a hidden security camera recorded the entire incident and transmitted it to Earth. As a result, a small

handful of high-ranking officials in the intelligence and law-enforcement communities -- and the President of the

Galactic Federation -- were soon made aware of the fact that a ruthless criminal now had access to a ship that

would enable him to travel to any part of the space-time continuum that he wished. The problem that they now

faced was simple enough: what could they do to stop Rackham from using his ill-gotten gains to plunder the

timeline?

As it turned out, there was something that could be done, and it was proposed by Professor Justin Timely, the

creator of the time machine that was incorporated into the timeship's design. Professor Timely suggested that

the heads of the various intelligence and law-enforcement agencies of the Federation select a group of their

best agents, who would in turn create an entirely new organization -- one dedicated to the fight against those

like Captain Rackham who would use temporal technology for criminal ends. It would be the responsibility of

the new organization's creators to recruit their operatives from the full spectrum of Federation society -- not

only from the various intelligence, law-enforcement, and military organizations throughout its territory, but

from the civilian population as well -- and to train them for their new job and the responsibilities that came

with it. It was decided by its creators that the new organization -- which from that time onward would be

known as the Temporal Enforcement Directorate -- would be a top-secret one, with its existence known only

to the heads of the agencies from which they'd originally come, as well as to the Federation President. There

had, at first, been some discussion as to whether or not to make the current incarnation of the Champions

aware of the existence of the TED, but it was decided that the presence of a Varanyi on the team posed an

unacceptable security risk to the organization's secret.

Among the first group of Federation citizens chosen for membership in the TED -- a group representing every

sentient member species -- was Paradox Timely herself. After learning of the organization's existence from

her father and its purpose, Paradox immediately volunteered to join; she saw the TED as her best chance to

redeem herself for having told Rackham about the timeship, and she was also carrying no small amount of

guilt because of all the people that had died because of it. She therefore had a tremendous incentive to suc-

ceed in her quest, which manifested itself in the intensity with which she approached her training. Although

there were some within the organization who questioned her abilities at first, those doubts were soon laid to

rest following her trainee mission, during which she was able to prevent the theft of advanced Federation

technology by a trans-temporal criminal -- an intelligent saurian being from a parallel Earth who called him-

self Chronosaurus Rex. While Paradox was able to stop the reptilian criminal from stealing the technology he'd

come for, she wasn't able to prevent his escape back to his native timeline -- but not before leaving her with

the ominous warning that they would meet again one day.

Two years later, Paradox became involved with an incident which would later prove to be the darkest period

in the history of the TED, when one of its top agents attempted to assassinate the Director of the organization

and frame Professor Timely for the deed. With the aid of fellow TED agent Fergus Templeton (a.k.a. Tempus

Fugit), Paradox was able to thwart the assassination attempt in time. The traitorous agent -- who would later

become known as Malkhronos, the greatest enemy of the TED -- was able to escape before he could be appre-

hended, but not before swearing to one day destroy the Directorate and everyone connected to it.

Paradox's next mission following the Malkhronos incident -- the apprehension of a device-using criminal calling

himself Father Time -- very nearly proved to be her last. Among Father Time's weapons -- which included a

"disruptor scythe" whose energy emissions were capable of not only neutralizing security systems, but rendering

living beings unconscious as well, and another device which looked like a high-tech hourglass which he called a

"time matrix" -- were what he called the "Sands of Time", which he used against Paradox. The young agent

found herself suddenly shifting from one time period to another, with no time for her to adjust to the rapid

changes; the stresses on her body caused by the temporal distortion put her into a comatose state which lasted

for two months (the TED hadn't yet adopted the practice of implanting its field agents with protective nanotech

which would prevent attacks such as Paradox experienced from working; Paradox would be the first to undergo

the procedure following her recovery). During her convalescence, an event took place which ultimately led to her

current assignment.

A joint operation carried out by law-enforcement and spaceborne forces had recently brought about the destruction

of a major pirate stronghold; during the cleanup operation to make sure that no pirates were hiding out in the base,

one of the search parties came across a high-security cell block, whose cells were all occupied by beautiful yet odd-

ly-dressed young women. When they were questioned as to where they came from, the women all claimed to have

been kidnapped and sold into slavery, before being brought to the pirate stronghold from the 20th and 21st Centuries.

At first, their story was regarded as the product of months of mistreatment, until one of them described Captain Rack-

ham in every detail. Upon hearing the captive's description, one of the search party members -- who was a deep-cover

operative of the TED -- immediately sent an encrypted message to TED Headquarters on Earth advising them of what

had been discovered. Once they'd had time to consider their agent's report, the upper echelons of TED quietly took

over the handling of the situation with regards to the outtime women, as well as the report of Rackham's involvement.

The Director of TED, in particular, wanted to know just how extensive Rackham's contacts in the past were -- and who

it was who was supplying him with so many captive women. The problem with that, though, was that it would entail a

journey to one of the most violent periods of Earth's history, and whoever he sent would have to have an extensive

knowledge of that time (and possibly other periods as well, depending on what the agent learned). At the Director's

urging, an exhaustive search of their agent records was conducted in order to find an agent with the necessary skills

and knowledge to carry out the mission.

And so, it came to pass that Paradox Timely found herself being sent on her first -- and from her point of view, most

important -- major assignment for the Directorate. It's an assignment that she has no intention of failing; fortunately,

she isn't alone in this task, for she's made the acquaintance of several other people of our time who, without realizing

it, have been involved with the same case. Given the unique set of skills and special abilities possessed by her new

friends, Paradox feels that it's only a matter of time before she's able to fulfill her promise to bring "Dirty Tom" Rack-

ham to justice for his crimes -- and to make amends for the lives that were lost because of her mistake.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

I guess it's time for Powers/Tactics.

Powers: Paradox Timely has access to advance 31st Centery weapions andd equipment. She normaly carries her two standard ishued weapions for a field agent. The first one is her Nural Blaster, a weapion which fires a strange energy (in the 20th centery...in the 31st it is relativly 'common') which harms but does not destroy the brain. The second weapion is a blaster which shoots a beam of force.

There are many little gadgets she normaly carries. One is her Force Field Belt, which protects her from harm. Another is her comunication badge.

She is also boltened by tons of nanomachiens, protecting her from poisons and toxins, sufication (the nanomchiens can convert any ingested gas or water to oxygen, and can even extract it from the skin if needed), and even the need for sleep is removed. One of the more 'plesent' side effects is that it reduces her need to remove waist from the body (as the nanomachiens use most of the waist to recreate themselves). Another side effect is that she seems always hungry, and if not doing anything else, she is eating.

Tactics: While trained in combat, Paradox hates it, and will only engage in it if there is no other choice. When in combat, she uses range and flight to attack at odd angels.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Powers Breakdown: This section gives more information on her powers, there use, logic, why, and notes.

Generic Nanomachien Notes: All 'Nanomachien' powers and stats are conected by the limitation "Unified Power", but I also needed more than what the Unified Power limitation gives. This, thay also have the limitation "Limited Power (Hackable, -1/4)". What this means is that someone with some good computer skills, and the right equipment and/or powers COULD 'hack' into the Nanomachien's Programing. Once hacked, the hacker could turn powers on, off, or control there level at his will (and a few types on the keyboard). This becomes 'feasable' in the late 20th centery (othoe a normal hacker must make an imposable [10 Difiuclty] skill roll to even get in, let alone understand the code once in).

Boosted Stats: Only DEX, CON, PD, ED, SPD REC, END, BODY, and STUN are boosted. There normal values are 13 DEX, 15 CON, 7 PD, 7 ED, 3 SPD, 6 REC, 20 END, 10 BODY, and 20 STUN. Again, thay are "Limited Power (Hackable, -1/4)", which means a skilled hacker could force Paradox to use less of a stat than normal, or to it's maximum when she dosen't want to. Go figure.

Future-Tech Weapions: Nural Blaster (All Modes): This is the standard gun for all TED Field (Time) Agents. It is designed to 'harmlessly' damage the brains of the target. While there is leathal versions of this weapion, Field Agents are not alowed to carry them (for risk killing someone important to the future via ansestory). The "Substaned Mode" asumes that she keeps the trigger down till the charge is 'just so', then fiers a more harmful beam.

Future-Tech Weapions: Force Blaster (All Modes): This is a 'backup' weapion designed for use against beings with no mind (which makes the first gun useless). It is a last resort weapion, cause it can cause BODY damage. And it knocks the person hit far away. It affects the Physical Defences of the target (well, it is a FORCE Blaster, as in Kinetic Force). It does have one other use...that of a high tech 'handcuff' in the Suround Mode (which envelopes the target in a unmovable Force Field, the special effect of the Entangle). Of course, being an OAF, it is usaly disarmed from her and used against her (to her pleaser...she's wierd like that).

Other TED Equipment: This VVP usaly contains a hi-tech medkit, but can be 'swaped out' for other equipment she needs (or is asigned by her superiors).

Force Field and Life Suport Belt: Basicly, with this belt, she can shruge off small 'primitive' arms fire. She can adjust it upwards or downwards (to give her, say, more PD protection at the cost of ED), but the GM should asume the limitation "Extra Time" on this. For example, to move one side up/down up to 4 is a zero-phase action. To manipulate it by 5-8 points is a half-phase action. To manipulate it by 9-12 is a full-phase action. To manipulate it 13-16 is a full phase and a segment action (like Haymaker). To manipulate it from 17-20 is a full two phase action (Hapening at 0 DEX of the next phase). This is, of course, doing it directly...if she 4 points at one phase, and another 4 points in another phase, then thay are both zero-phase actions. NOTE: I did not give the belt a limitation based on this. As for the Life Suport stuff (the vareous Safe Enviroments), that only happens when the field is up. It need not even be up 'all the way'. This is helpful when stranded in space (makeing her a human space ship).

Comunication Badge (All Modes): The badge alowes comunication between TED Headquarters in the 31st Centery and the agent. Thay also alow the agent to scan for tempral disterbances (with the assistance of a Gazer agent at Headquarters, who's entier job is to scan the time line for disterbances to it and dispatch agents to them). The badge automaticly projects in the agent's eyes a visual effect, while also implanting into the ear an audio effect also. This, she can be Flashed via thoes sences, and it would affect theas powers also.

Nanoweave Clothing: A tool invalable to all Field Agents, the clothing is acualy made up of small Nanomachiens which reproduce via converting dirt and dust into itselves. It is built as a "Zero-Point Focus", which means it can, in extream measers, be destroyed, disabled, or taken away (but only for plot points). Being excentric, Paradox uses the Nanoweave as she feals fit, but also uses it for disguises or to blend in also.

Flight Ring (All Modes): Basicly it alowes Paradox to ignore gravity in Earth-like or slightly stronger planets. In space, it alowes for full Faster-Than-Light Travel, but only just so. It makes her an emergancy excape pod, if needed.

Nanomachien Shifting: This is her prime 'inflitration' power...to change her shape to get into places she could not go as just plane Paradox Timely. It is limited to female shapes, and to humanoid shapes only. Her clothing does not change with her (see Nanoweave Clothing for that). A skilled hacker could force her to change shape. NOTE: She could possable impersnate men, but cosmeticly she would be a woman with no brests or facial hair.

Nanomachien Mindshell and Nanomachien DNA-Shell: Both powers protect her mind and body from alterations from another. This is because the Nanomachiens would fix whatever damage would be inflicted as soon as it can.

Nanomachien Breathing: The Nanomachiens can extract Oxygen her body needs from any enviroment where Oxygen is present, including water (she can not be sufficated by water). Even choke holds are useless, as the Nanomachiens detect presser on the windpipe, then alter her so that she can extract Oxygen from the skin. Prehaps the only place she could sufficate is in a Vacuum.

Nanomachien Eating: As noted above, this power simulates the ability of the Nanomachiens to take her human waist products to create more of themselves. It does NOT stop her from being hungry (and, in fact, prehaps enchances it).

Nanomachien Life: The Nanomachiens protect her from dieses, poisons, and the effects of ageing. As a side effect, she rairly feals tiered, and this, needs not a lot of sleep.

Subdermal Time Machien: There is a big machien at TED Headquarters where agents get sent back in time with. The Nanomachiens inside her are programed to tap into the energies of this machien to return the target home (even if it is just a second to be sent to another place in time). Because of the machien being able to be 'down for mantance', or be taken control by the Director and forced back, or to another period of time, the power is bought with a rediculy small amount of No Conscious Control (the -1/4 level) to simulate this.

Nanomachien Healing (Aid): This power alowes/simulates the Nanomachien's ability to heal her. I used Aid BODY and STUN as opose to Healing because Healing has a maximum, and Aid dose not. The only limitation is "Only Restores To Starting Values" and the END cost.

Nanomachien Healing (Regeneration): This power asumes that she is off her feat and takeing rest (and lots of food).

Skills: I am asuming that in the future, humans have access to advance knolage and able to aquier it easly. And to make maters better for Paradox, her father is a Scientist, so she has lots of Science skills herself. This is why her EGO and INT are both 30.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

Just realize that Aided points fade so she may have to make multiple attack actions over the duration of a combat to keep her restored Health, and (as a matter of fact) Aid does have a maximum. The current Aid power can never give her more than 15 points of BODY and 30 points of STUN. Once you have reached that limit you cannot gain any benefit from another Aid until those points have faded. Even if they are lost due to an attack or other means the Aid has to fade normally before it can be applied again. This is SLIGHTLY better than Healing normally (as the points will fade so you can reapply them once they have faded normally) but a better option would probably be Healing with the "Decreased Re-Use Time" advantage. If you take it down to the 1 Turn level (+1 1/2) you could use your healing every turn and not have to worry about fading.

Re: Paradox Timely of the TED (6ed, PG-13)

I thought AID with the limitation 'Only To Starting Value' did not fade (mostly because I thought fade rates were ignored once the bosted stat got down to the base stat value). My bad. Now I got to recalculate that power using HEALING.
