GrimJesta
What do the little letters in power frameworks mean, next to the cost of each slot? The "u" or "m" or whatever? Maybe in 5th edition they tell you, but I dont see it in 4th... I know Im askin alot of questions, but Ive never run Hero, and only played for a few months about 10 years ago. Heh. -=Grim=-
Monolith
U stands for a fixed slot (one that must always use the total points in the power) and M stands for flexible slot (one that you can use less than the point of the power). So a 12d6 with U must use 60 points in a MP and a 12d6 with an M can use between 5 and 60 points.
Chris Goodwin
What Monolith said. U stands for "ultra" and M stands for "multi". An ultra slot is cheaper than a multi slot for the reason Monolith mentioned.
PhilFleischmann
The "u" and "m" designations have been around since first edition. Even though "ultra" and "multi" don't mean very much to newer players, they're still used. They work well enough because "Fixed" and "Flexible" both start with "F." So we need some other letters to use for abbreviations.
