Roll20 export template?

Hi C.R.,

There are export formats for Hero Designer for both Roll20 character sheets.

For the sheet I maintain, Hero System 6e Heroic, use the export format HeroSystem6eHeroic_HDImporter. The import script for the sheet is installable from the Mods (API) Scripts setting using the 1-click install menu or from its GitHub folder, which also has the manual and a sample character. As the name implies, HeroSystem6e_Heroic is intended for Heroic campaigns such as Fantasy Hero or Star Hero. It will work in a pinch for Supers, but this wasn't the design intent.

For the other sheet, Hero System 6e, use ImportHS6e. The script is installable using the 1-click install menu. The export format file is available from its GitHub folder. I don't support this script and can't comment on its status.

Be advised that you need a Roll20 Pro-level subscription to use API scripts.

Cheers,

ViG

I have posted in several places on this site and on Roll20 forums about the ImportHS6e script no longer working. There has been no movement as far as I can tell to get the importer for roll20 working again for the official Hero System 6e character sheet. I can attest that that Villain in Glass's importer works great.

But if you are looking to play a high level superhero game or a game where a character has more than 10 or so powers, then the ImportHS6e would have been the one to use. As long time player of Hero System and user of HeroDesigner, the ability to get characters from HeroDesigner to Roll20 would be a crowing achievement, in my opinion.

Hopefully this will be looked into at some point. It would make the game more enjoyable to be able to move characters easily into Roll20.

That would be great if you ended up added some additional slots for powers. I have only ran into a few issues with characters with lots of powers on your sheet, usually when they are in a multipower.

Your sheet worked great for a low powered spy game I ran for a bit. When I start our low powered super hero game, we will probably use your sheet since I can move all the npc's/antagonists to the game from HD easily.

Looking forward to any new updates on your sheet as well.

Thanks for the response.

I see I am not the first person to run across this. It is frustrating because I purchased the products and got started on roll20, only to find out I need to manually enter characters.

I will be following here hoping to get updates if they fix it.

I wish I could help, but the code bases are completely different. If I had the time, I would prefer to spend it adding another 10 powers to my sheet. There is an easy way, but I'd like to make it bit more elegant than adding another tab of ten. In any case,  my sheet wasn't really intended to be supers-friendly.

Is the sheet you use the one with the Hero Theme colors? Can that one be populated by exporting from Hero Designer somehow? My group has been spoiled by D&D and Savage Worlds, so we like things that can be easily loaded.

Hi Ndreare,

Yes, the sheet I maintain is the Hero-themed one on Roll20 (HeroSystem6eHeroic), which I recently updated to handle 17 powers. The API script for importing HeroDesigner characters is in the API one-click install menu. You will need the HeroDesigner export definition file, which can be found here:
