Brutal
First take a look at this clip: http://www.donpixel.com/video/?v=031125110016 then take a look at this one (same guy) http://www.sonicstrike.net/~tom/terada/videos/_stevesampler1.mpg Now in champions I can imagine him having pretty high stats in martial arts (black belt in various martial arts, like wushu (at least if i remember correctly)etc), include a monster of an acrobaticsroll. However this kind of shows me what could happen with superhero with, say dex 30, speed 7, great acrobatics roll, obviously very skilled in various martial arts can do. Even though what this guy does on the clips is for show, it could easily be put into direct combat by a superhero/supervillain. Back to my real question, what kind of powers/skills would a character need to efficiently put this to good use in combat? And secondly, is THE ULTIMATE MARTIAL ARTIST worth buying? Pattern Ghost
I don't see anything particularly amazing, there, in Hero terms. The flips are just a decent Acrobatics roll, maybe a 14 or less. The MA aren't really shown in either clip. He could be a crappy fighter who's great at flipping around, or a great fighter who's also great at flipping around. Hard to say. (I'll say he's nobody I'm going to screw with, though. =) As for the UMA, if you don't have the prior version, I think it's worth picking up. If you do have the prior version, I wouldn't rate it a higher priority than some of the other sourcebooks, but I'd still pick it up sooner or later. BoneDaddy
The porno pop-up at the end of the first link is NSFW. You should mention this. Such a breach of nettiquette... Anyway - he's an impressive flipper, and getting inside that could be tough. Can he ground fight? Does he know what to do when traps come into play? GREAT acrobatics, though. Dr. Anomaly
Hmmm...my thought watching this guy flipping around: +20 PRE, Extra Time, Gestures (Both Hands), Incantantions (screaming & yelling), Req. a Skill Roll vs. Acrobatics "Yes, as a matter of fact, I can kick your butt! Let me demonstrate what you'll be facing..."
Guest joen00b
That should have been called Martial Rotisserie. With all that spinning around (while it looks cool) is only gonna cook his own goose in HTH Competition or self defense. I've seen 100 guys do crazy stuff like that and couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper sack with a Katana. Acrobatics != Martial Arts it was fun to watch though, great entertainment:)

However, as someone who's spent the last seven years studying karate, calling what he did 'martial' arts just bugs the crap out of me. Twilight
A lot of impressive flipping, this guy would probably make an excellent movie martial artist since not a lot of people would be trying to fight back. Dunno how much good all that flipping is gonna do in a real fight though, it might wear him out and hand an opponent a victory. To be fair though, he did have some kicks and what not that looked pretty impressive. Other then that however, I'd say this gentlemen was somebody with the Psych Lim "Big Showoff". His cousin managed to shake things up a great deal. He is mastering "the classical mess," and being the good son/nephew/grandson. If he was fast enough, his style could be effective. If his opponant could step inside that cuisinart of feet (which are actually quite slow, in the grand scheme of things), he'd be toast. I'm not saying I could take him. But my sifu could. In another year or so, I probably could too.

GREAT acrobatics, though. Well I have popupkiller to get rid of em so I had no idea that such a thing would pop up. You should try downloading one of them, gets rid of lots of spam. On the general topic though, im not sure if he's actually mr Lee's cousin or of that is just a fancy title for the clip . However, this is a third grade black belter in karate we're talking about, so obviously he's no wuss. Of course a regular kickboxer/mutai fighter or similar would kick his and most other karatepractitioners ass in a regular streetfight, but that is beside the point . Another point is that he's the junior world champion in NASKA forms. So this "showing off" is from competition, where performing certain moves perfectly is the whole deal. I was thinking though that a style like this could work well in champions on a character with high dex, speed, some nice martial arts it could turn out looking pretty impressive, and would be fun to play as well.
