Ndreare
Any one here know where an online RPG resource for the world of Terry Goodkinds Sword of Truth can be found including stuff like hero versions of his magic system? I can do most of it but the Additive Subtractive magic thing would be nice to have some one else work out for me. Wizards of the First Order Wizards of the Second Order Wizards of the Third Order Dream Walkers Confesors Power Slides Additive Magic Subtractive Magic & All that jaz
MarioTani
Re: The Sword of Truth When you wrote down something put it on the boards, I wuold like to read it^_^ Moreover there are some interesting power concept: 1. Dreamwlakers and their ability to stop other actions. 2. Confessor power it's an almost absolute power. Maybe the second can be craeted with a NND, but the first? Ndreare
Oh well I guess I will have to get to work. I will post my work when finished for those that are interested. Although I would not call a Confessors power absolute because their are cases of it having no or little effect such as when used on lord Raul
NuSoardGraphite
Hey! I would love to work with you on this. The Sword of Truth series is one of my favorite of the new series (my current fav is Ice and Fire though) and I've always been intrigued by Goodkind's Additive and Subtractive magic. It might not be as cool as The One Power, but I think it'd be a challenge to design the system nonetheless. Confessor's power, on the other hand, is simple. Its a Mental Transform (Major). She touches someone and POOF! they're her willing slave for as long as they live. Simple. For female confessors, it costs a boatload of END. For male confessors, it costs 0 END. MarioTani
ndreare Although I would not call a Confessors power absolute because their are cases of it having no or little effect such as when used on lord Raul Uhmmm I see it like a NND effect, it is not prevented unles you have somespecial made defense. A mental trasform like suggested by NuSoardGraphite it's maybe the best way to model it. It would end to be enough costly so it can be used even to kill the victim, even if maybe this could be seen like stretching the rule... similarly the powers of the dreamwlaker could be created trough a Mind Control with a Trigger to represent the ability to interrupt the opponent action, maybe with a Limited Power limitation -1/2 "it doesn't work on the rahl and their followers"
dstarfire
dreamwalker The best way to do the dreamwalkers' power would be a mind control with a delayed effect (sleepwalker sets the "seed", as it were, while the victim sleeps, and then cause it to sprout whenever they choose). You'd also want to give them mind link triggered by the mind control. The power would be hella expensive to build, but since that'd be the primary source of a character's power, it's no biggie. Ndreare
A dream walkers powers should be expensive though remeber they are not ever day and even one can control armies

dstarfire
The additive/subtractive magic system would be easy to do in hero, as they'd be defined just as power sfx. However, a few powers would be only additive (aid, healing), or only subtractive (suppress). I'd develop a good selection of sample "spells" for the different magic types (additive, subtractive, sorceress, wizard) to establish what's what. I'd be interested to see your ideas of how to work out the sword of truth itself.
