Our group so far consists of:

Crystina (a Taal of the High Church/Thunder Archer from Aarn)

Kimo (an Ulronai Warrior-Mage, and wanderer)

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

The game started ok, but we had to stop after only a couple of hours when I got violently sick. But I am up to speed now and ready for next week. We started in the free city if Aarn. In the Hound and Ape tavern. The barkeep tried to refuse service to the Ulronai (he thinks they are low life scum). No one in the group knows each other...yet. The Elven Wizard butted in to the argument, and cast a spell to make the Ulronai leave. But when the warrior-mage turned to leave, the taverns bouncer tried to sneak attack. and clocked the Ulronai on the head with a club. The fight was on! The warrior-whirled about and with lightning reflexes drew 2 wicked scimitars and gravely wounded the cowardly bouncer. THe Elven mage then attacked the embattled Ulronai with invisible daggers (a spell). From inside the tavern Reitha tried to intervene before someone got killed and stop the fight, but was ignored. At this moment a priestess of the High Church, stepped in from the street and demanded that the violence stop, in the name of the Stormlord, Thornbek. She was also ignored. The Ulronai at this point countered with an attack spell of his own, aimed at the Elf, but the magic fizzled. Sensing his vulnerability the Wizard raised a magic barrier to protect himself. The monk stepped back from the battle and faded into the shadows. The now angered Taal was in fact a member of a select group of priests and priestesses of the High Church, known as Thunder Archers. Calling on the power of her patron diety Thornbek God of Storms, Rain, Archery, and War, she fired an arrow into the tavern, aiming at the back wall. The arrow exploded with a thunderous concussion. Everyone in the tavern was either stunned or knocked unconscious by the thunder clap. The priestess then having stopped the fight, began to minister to the wounded.....

This is where we had to stop.

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

Nothing like kicking things off with a barroom brawl! Sounds like much fun was had by all... except for the whole violently ill part. Hope it's better for you next time, & keep us posted on the group's progress! The one thing I feel that my FH group is missing is a Divinely centered character. A Priestess of Hornbrek would be awesome.

Ugh' date=' not "invisible daggers", Isaacs Unseen Scythings :P I went to a lot of effot to cover my PGing with a believable RP... uhh, did I say that out loud?[/quote']

Ack! Sorry I wrote the synopsis with a view point of what your target experienced. Next time I'll use the spell name for better "PGing" descriptions :)

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

Well technically cuz its Completly IPE (Except for the source as that would be utterly pointless, my Reserve is OIF) they wouldn't be able to describe it as "daggers", heck they wouldn't even feel anything but a searing pain where the scythings sliced open flesh and blood did that little spray effect (I'm a fan of anime what can I say...), or in that damned ulronai's case, As they graze helplessly off his armor... 5 shots and no damage... pathetic...

Oh and one more technicality: The first spell I cast wasn't to Make him leave "Directly" all it does is give a huge PRE Bonus, which I then used to scare the bezesus out of him, so there :-P

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

The latest group information:

Reitha is a lithe woman of average height, with shoulder-length black hair pulled into a ponytail. She is wearing a simple, dark grey robe, unadorned except for a small insignia depicting a full moon and several stars against a night sky. Her manner is unobtrusive and even slightly aloof, and her features hint at a birthplace far from her present location.

Crystina is a blonde haired blue eyed preistess wearing light leather with a holy rune carved bow (COM 18)

Darian stands a little over medium height, but is noticably thin and pale. Wearing patched leathers that look like they were good quality once.

Kaargh is a massive creature, 4m (13') tall and 610kg (1350 lbs). His grayish-green skin is punctuated by boney, dark growths, giving him a pox'd appearance. His teeth protrude in both directions from his maw beneath a crooked nose and yellow eyes. What tufts of hair he has grow randomly at seemingly pointed locations on his body. He wears simple clothing and carries a large sling bag. A pair of spiked guantlets seem almost out of place on his lightly armored body, while he bears a huge maul seemingly in one hand. His bearing indicates a simplicity and confidence that seems almost impossible to understand. 4 COM (25 PRE)

Kimo is about 6' tall with white/grey hair ,grey eyes and red bloodlock in his hair and heis wearing a tunic ,trews and a cape

Katal is 6'1?, slender and fine boned like all of his kind, his hair is platinum in color and kept plaited at the back into a braid running midway down his back, but his bangs are shorter and hang off to either side of his face. His eyes are light turquoise and in spite of all his traveling his skin is still slightly pale. 16 COM

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

We had more technical issues...but also more gaming....and NO blowing of chunks :)

We started out to use a new online gaming tool called Screen Monkey. This is where the technical issues came in. Screen Monkey allows the GM to setup a web server on his local machine and host a live chat game. We have a custom programmed Hero Dice utility and the program also supports online maps with movable minis (icons), and online character data/information. At first I had trouble configuring my home network to allow my players access to the game. I received much help from Mudpyr8. He is very knowledgable and without his help I could not have gotten off the ground. I will say that router configuration is not for the faint of heart.

Once we got everyone online I also had some server issues related to memory usage on my local machine. So about an hour into the game we switched to an IRC channel and finished the evening. I hope to resolve the technical stuff soon, as Screen Monkey shows much promise.

On to the game....

As the dust settled from the huge thunderclap that stunned the embattled patrons of the Hound and Ape tavern, a crowd bagan to gather. City guards rushed to the scene drawn by the explosion. As the guards rushed up, an invisible Kimo slipped quietly out the back and started down the ally. The Taal Crystina walked calmy out the front door in the confusion and joined the gathering crowd. Katal roused from being momentarily knocked out and tried to shake the ringing from his sensitive elven ears. Confrontef by the Captain of the guard Reitha and Katal explained what happened resulting in the cowardly bouncer Brutus, being arrested.

Meanwhile outside in the crowd of curious onlookers Darian meets up with a friend of his..Levren the beggar. Also included in the crowd is a huge troll, Kaargh, who merely wants a drink. While Lavren and Darian exchange greetings, Kaargh wanders into the ally where he smells the invisible Kimo hiding. After sniffing of the strange scent for a moment he sates his thirst from the rain barrel and then heads back to the crowd. Lavren remarks to Darian that he looks well, but appears to be having hard times. Perhaps he knows of a man that has an employment opportunity. Darian's interest is piqued. He agrees to meet Lavren later at the Rat's Nest in the thieves district. Darian, Kaargh, and Crystina head back into the tavern as the guards disperse the crowd. Kimo follows invisibly. Inside Kaargh is hired as the new bouncer, for room and board and 2 beers a day plus 6 beers on his day off. The Darian approaches Crystina and begins to explain that he is looking to form a group for a job. Reitha ovehears, approaches, and expresses interest. Katal wanders over and eavesdrops, while Kaargh smells Kimo and prowls around the tavern glowering at potential trouble makers, and trying to spot Kimo. But Kimo wanders around avoiding Kaargh and the others while trying to listen in (a rather strange game of silent Marco-Polo). The time comes for Darians meeting with Lavren so he heads to the Rats Nest. At the meeting Lavren explains that there is a man who is looking to hire a team to help him recover an artifact. In exchange the team will be well paid and may keep anything they find...except the Artifact. Darian agrees...pays Lavren an "honorarium" and is told to meet a man named Sim in the village of Kun 3 days ride northeast of Aarn. Darian returns to the Hound and Ape. There he meets with the waiting ladies and is introduced to Katal. Kaargh overhearing what is going on keeps smiling and showing his huge ugly troll teeth to attract Darians attention. Darian explains the job offer, and then turns and asks Kaargh to join them. At that moment an exhausted Ulronai drops his invisibility and is immediatly ordered out of the bar by the trollish bouncer. Kaargh then turns and says he will only go it the "Cursed walker" is included. Darian agrees, and the group is together ..... at last. Darian suggests that the group meets the following day at the Bittersweet Gate...

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

We are all set for the game tomorrow night. It will be hosted on Screen Monkey (I have worked on the server issues). If we have any problems then we will return to Sorcery.net. I will send everyone the URL & Password for Screen Monkey again. I hope to see everyone there.

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

North, South, East, & West

The broken circle tells the rest

Life dangles like the hangman's noose

Leaving room for little hope

So lift up high thine heavy pack

And journey to yon witches crack

Up or down thee may go

Either way death thee shalt know

To gain the first

Quench my thirst

And if you are to survive

I must not thrive

To find thine way through the fog of woe

Think about the Holy bow

Through jungles green and swamps that steam

One that shines and two that sheen

Up and up, the northern lights

Few survive the devil's ice

Be wary of the icy hole

Lest thou lose thine very soul

If you keep the pace

You'll win the race

But beware the burn

If the second you would earn

The fiery heat of the desert's day

Is naught compared to the great drakes ray

Scorpions, snakes, and creatures foul

To gain the third whisper the word

The final piece most dangerous of all

Through hell's fiery furnace you must crawl

Come what may in mountains high

Thou must know the truth or thee will die

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

Whew! It seems like my "sabbatical" was never going to end but life is heading in the right direction; 1) My company is gone, 2) My brother took the plea bargain, and 3) I started my new job (I am now officially a member of the United States Postal Service).

Any how enough goo, our next game is Sat Oct 15th (not Sat the 17th as I had a brain fart when I sent the e-mail). We will be using Screen Monkey as it seemed to work out ok last time. I hope to see everyone there.

Now on to the meat of our last game session:

Our heroes arrived in the village of Kun looking for there prospeactive patron Sim. Kaargh and Kimo decided to make camp outside of the village to avoid any "personality clash" issues with the Ulronai. Crystina went to the local church and donated a tithe, Reitha went to the towns general store and purchased provisions, while Darian and Katal went to the tavern looking for Sim. At the tavern the duo discovered that Sim had left town several days earlier headed south to meet someone. Putting two and two together Darian and Katal reasoned that Sim had gone to meet the group enroute, and he was the man killed by the wraith in the burial mounds two days ago. Everyone returned to the encampment and after some discussion it was decided that Darian and Katal would return to the town under cover of darkness and burgle the deceased Sim's room on the second floor of the tavern to look for more information. In the room the two discovered a small leather bound journal hidden in the dead man's mattress. Upon return to the encampment the group studied the journal and found that Sim was going to hire them to help recover 7 pieces of a broken spear and 5 pieces of a broken key. They also discovered that Sim was just one of many agents working for someone else that is the real person seeking the artifacts. The group decided that they must journey to Witches Hollow in the south across the Storm Sea, but first they must let someone know what they suspect is happening, so thier first stop on thier journey was decided to be the Free City of Tatha Gorel ruled by the good dragon Scauromdrax the Magnificent. And so the journey begins....

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

Last night our adventures resumed after a month long hiatus brought on by my new job. We missed a couple of players, who we hope will be able to return soon. I ran them as NPCs for now. For those that were able to make it a good time was had by all.

In summary the group continued its trip to Tatha Gorel to speak with the dragon king Scauromdrax. After many days of uneventful travel the group encountered a Drakine patrol from Tatha Gorel. After explaining their purpose it was agreed that the patrol would escort our group to the city. Still a few days journey away from Tatha Gorel, the group is ambushed by a second group of Drakine...wearing the livery of the blood wolf, and carrying a strange amulet. The group is mystified at the end of the fight when the Drakine soldiers are killed in an arcane fashion rather than let themselves be interrogated. Before they die the evil Drakine leader pronounces a curse on the group. The group undertakes a forced march for the next two days and nights in an effort to get to the dragon king as quickly as possible, only to find that the king is away on business when they arrive. Our adventurers don't waste time cooling thier heels though, after resting they spend the time doing research on information they have found. Finallly, when the king returns, they are granted an audience. The group explains their suspicions. The king agrees to help support the group logistically and to begin gathering his armies.....:king:

Re: The First Seal: The Turakian Age

We had a light group last night, but that wa understandable with the holiday. Our group of intrepid adventurers spent a night in town gathering supplies and equipment. In the morning they were contacted by a messenger from the king and told that a ship called the Sea Sparrow awaited them.

They reported to the ship and were assigned bunks and stowed their gear. Then while waiting for the tide did some research on the Witches Crack. They surmised that the Witches Crack could actually be a place called the Witches Hollow in the country of Sitharia, in the land of Mitharia. The Witches Hollow is rumored to be an evil place where demons dwell and where witch covens are empowered and perform dark magics.

The ship sail on the tide, after being blessed by Crystina. The Elven mage immediately set about being sea sick.

Despite the blessing a monstrous storm blew up on in the pre-dawn hours of the fourth day. In the raging tempest the ship was severly damaged, the captain and over half her crew were lost at sea. If not for the valiant efforts of our heroes the ship would have sunk and all of her crew lost.

After effecting what repairs they were able and juryrigging some sail, the crippled ship moved on, pushed onward by the sea currents and the wind but with no method of real steering. After another week land finally comes into sight, but so does the reef that finally dooms the brave ship.

Our heroes and what remains of the brave crew transfer supplies and provisions to the shore from the wreckage. The white sandy beach bordered by verdant green jungle seem an inviting refuge after their harsh sea journey. And the towering steaming volcanoes in the distance make for a scenic back drop. As dusk settles over the survivors, the distant sound of jungle drums reaches the group......

To be continued.

A complete log of the game is attached
