Re: needs disadvantages ideas

hello all i just wanna know if he exist a place on the net who give a long disadvantages list for hero system

thanks in advance

stef the french canadian

excuse my english again

Apologies for the clarification, but are you asking if there is a reference list for disadvantages?

If so, Jack Butler has a Master List of Limitations that deal with Physical, Psychological and Social Limitiations. For other disads...well, I don't have any bookmarked sources because I've never really needed/wanted them, but I'm sure someone else might.

G'luck!

Re: needs disadvantages ideas

I'm going to be running a modern day military-style game tonight and I wrote up a quick list of sample Disadvantages yesterday. Since I have it handy, I thought I'd cut and paste.

The Monkey reference you would have to be part of this group to get, but it isn't essential. "Need medical attention," on the Susceptibility indicates that, once exposed to the thing, the character will keep taking damage until some kind of medication or other medical steps can be taken. I figured it was worth about +5 points, since most people with such allergies carry medication on them and it probably isn't far in any case (besides, a Paramedics roll will probably suffice--probably with penalties if applicable medication and/or equipment isn't available). Some others are probably setting dependent as well, such as the frequency with which being near-sighted is a problem and the commonness of cats and dogs.

15 Berserk: when an innocent is harmed, resist 10+, recover 7+ (common)

10 Distinctive Features: scarred (concealable, noticed)

15 Distinctive Features: horribly scarred (concealable, major reaction)

10 Physical Limitation: near-sighted (infrequently, greatly)

10 Psychological Limitation: reluctant to kill (common, moderate)

10 Psychological Limitation: impatient (common, moderate)

10 Psychological Limitation: defiant (common, moderate)

15 Psychological Limitation: fear of snakes (uncommon, strong)

15 Psychological Limitation: addicted to tobacco (common, strong)

20 Psychological Limitation: claustrophobic (common, strong)

5 Reputation: flies off the wall (sometimes: 15+)

10 Rivalry: other soldiers, professional (more powerful)

5 Susceptibility: allergic to cats, 1d6/5 min (common)

5 Susceptibility: allergic to dogs, 1d6/5 min (common)

10 Susceptibility: allergic to tobacco smoke, 1d6/min (common)

15 Susceptibility: bee stings, 2d6/min, need medical attention (uncommon)

5 Unluck: 1d6, "Man, what a bad day!"

10 Unluck: 2d6, "Is it Monday AGAIN?"

15 Unluck: 3d6, "Dude. I'm Monkey!"

20 Unluck: 4d6, "It just sucks to be me."

25 Unluck: 5d6, "SURE you want me at the party?"

30 Unluck: 6d6, "WHY!?!?!?!"

Oh! I forgot to mention that I am using a roll high method, so, for example, recovering from Berserk on a 7+ is the same as recovering on a 14- (simply subtract the roll-high number from 21 and/or look at the complimentary meaning).
