Product artwork

Okay, I've seen several requests for better artwork in the various products released for Champions, so here's a short list of artists and a few previews of their work. These guys work at reasonable prices, and I think they would enjoy the work.

Luciano Vecchio - He’s the artist for a comic called the Sentinels (which you should check out by the way), and a hell of a nice guy.

Derrick Thomas (of Blackwyrm Games) - He’s done work for Hero before, and if you want to se what he does check out the preview art over on the Blackwyrm site

Ryan Wolfe - Derrik’s partner in crime. His map work is awesome.

Sergio Quijada - He the artist for Hero Hooks, and several other projects (though they have yet to be released in the US).

Jay Odjick - He’s my boy (plus his stuff is pretty good, so how’s about throwing him a bone?) Check out his comic creation (The Raven) at the link below.

Bill Walko - A dedicated Teen Titans fan (his website is without a doubt the best Titans fan site out there - http://www.titanstower.com), and he’s a pretty good artist to boot. His first published stuff is going to appear over in Sentinels: Book 3

Here’s a few samples of his work - http://www.titanstower.com/source/gallery/00gallerywalko.html

I’ll add a few more as soon as I dig up their info. Until then, check out these guys stuff and let me know what you think of their work. Also, bring back Storn Cook and Ramon Perez.

Re: Product artwork

Not pimping any one person, but I've seen great artwork both on the Heavy Metal magazine forums: http://metaltv.rightangleinc.com/mboard/list.php?5

and in RPGNet's Freelance forum: http://forum.rpg.net/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Any artist is going to have good days and bad days, but I think Hero should definately look at people that excel at black and white lineart since that's what looks best in the format their printing. I don't know of any of their artists other than Kevin Long (and Sembieda), but I really like the stuff in Rifts sourcebooks. Didn't I just read on their website that Kevin hung out with Steve on a panel? If they were inclined I'm sure Mr. Long could call up his ol' buddy Mr. Sembieda and get some referrals to some other artists.
