Lemurion
Ok, to make a long story short I finally, after about 6 years, recovered my collection of Pre-5ER Hero books earlier tonight. Does anyone have an errata list or anything of what I can use to update things to the current ruleset?

Does anyone have an errata list or anything of what I can use to update things to the current ruleset? You mean, what changed from 4th to 5th edition? There's no one little sheet that gives that information, unfortunately. Many of the actual mechanics and costs are pretty much the same but the revision and upgrade essentially cleaned up the rules all across the board. You'd have to purchase 5th Edition Revised to get everything. The book is currently unavailable (i.e. sold out), but the PDF is available in the "E-Books" section of the online store. Sorry there's no easy answer.

AmadanNaBriona
Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER OK, so do we have a FREd to 5ER conversion site somewhere? 'cause I still haven't had the extra scratch for a copy of 5ER. Part is sheer cussedness... having 5ER come out literally 2 months after I finally could afford a copy of FREd still galls me. I hate that. Makes me remember the days when I played Warhammer.
Lemurion
Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER I have 5ER, Sidekick, CU 5E, CKC, Champions 5E, Pulp Hero, FH, Dark Champions, DCTAS, and Hudson City, the Urban Abyss for the current editions (either book or PDF). I was just wondering what would be involved in updating the older stuff. Thanks to zornwil, we do have a conversion of page number references between FREd and 5ER, including brief notes as to what's been added to the Revised version: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26915 . Almost everything that was added to 5ER came out of the original rules FAQ, which is still on the website, in both online and PDF versions: http://www.herogames.com/SupportFAQs/rulesfaq.htm . It's not as well organized as in the published book, but I don't have 5ER either and I do pretty well with FREd plus the FAQ. I hope that helps. Lord Liaden
Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER You're most welcome. Oh, I forgot to mention the chapter on genre-emulating advice and examples in 5ER; that's mostly a reproduction of the "Hero System Genre By Genre" PDF which is still on the Free Stuff section of the website. If you haven't seen it yet you can download it from this webpage: http://www.herogames.com/FreeStuff/freedocs.htm . Pretty fine stuff, too. If you follow the link in my signature, below, and scroll down to "Hero System (Pre-Fifth Edition)," you'll find both guidelines for generally updating older HERO books, and specific system updates for some of the books you mentioned. Blue
Re: How do I update 4E to 5ER I probably wouldn't bother updating. Only time I've bothered updating 4e to 5e is when I thought the 4e stuff needed tightening up, not because there was a "new edition out". If you know the intent of the 4e stuff and can play it reasonably like 5e, then save yourself the work.
