McManus
Word of the Day Heroes – Sometimes a word evokes a character idea for me. I was just looking at Google Word of the Day (WOTD) and came up with ideas. I was wondering if they sparked ideas in any of you. Here are the WOTD for the last few days gloaming: twilight; dusk. microcosm: a smaller, representative system having analogies to a larger system. provenance: origin; source. harridan: a scolding, vicious woman. What do these spark for you?
David Johnston
Re: WOTD Heroes Well, "gloaming" doesn't inspire anything for me. Both of it's synonyms are more evocative. Microcosm: Doesn't inspire a character, but does inspire an idea for an artificial recreation of Earth at one thousandth scale inhabited by tiny little androids. Provenance: I'm too aware of what provenance means. About the only thing it would suggest is a psychometrist who identifies forged art by seeing who created it but such a character would have no need for pseudonym. Harridan: Ah, now there we have a name for a super character. I see her as very agile and fit, but not very into personal grooming and very aggressive and angry. It's archaic, so we might be talking about a character from the past.

Super Sotheby's Harridan: Ah, now there we have a name for a super character. I see her as very agile and fit, but not very into personal grooming and very aggressive and angry. CrosshairCollie
Re: WOTD Heroes Hmm. With Provenance meaning 'origin; source', how about a Mastermind super who can infuse people with superpowers temporarily, thus being a walking 'origin' for a variety of villains-of-the-week? McCoy
Re: WOTD Heroes Gloaming A female metahuman, Scotch or of Scotch descent, with shadow / darkforce powers. Luminary could be her partner or her arch foe.

wrestlinggeek
Re: WOTD Heroes I think Luminary is pretty simple. A being made of solid light. Able to fly up to light-speed (sfx of teleport), project energy blasts, maybe desolid, change environment (dark to light), possibly some other powers. McManus
Re: WOTD Heroes Today's word - wag: a humorous person; a wit. I could easily see a character called the Scallywag. Could have almost any powers but would have a playful, somewhat obnoxious personality. A joker hero.
Brandi
Re: WOTD Heroes I could easily see a character called the Scallywag. As long as he ain't from the South.
McManus
Re: WOTD Heroes As long as he ain't from the South. Coming form the South myself, I have far more often heard the term carpetbagger . But i see the difference. A carpetbagger was a yankee suppressing the suthernas, and a scallywag was a sutherna helpin the carpetbaggers. "I for one welcome our insect overlords ..."
