Mark Rand Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 This is another "drop in anywhere" thread. Under consideration are Marvel's character Tigra and Catherine Willows of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. You can change Tigra's civilian identity if needed. Simply put, Catherine, a widowed crime scene investigator, and former exotic dancer, in the campaign city, is a metahuman. She can, at will, become either a were-tiger or a regular tiger. In either case, she keeps her full human INT and EGO as well as her skills Catherine can also sharpen her senses, one at a time, to superhuman levels and grow fangs and/or claws at will. Finally, although born out of wedlock, she's the only child of a billionaire hotel/casino magnate. This eventually may let her and her daughter live in the lap of luxury. Comments, questions, ideas? Maccabe Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Re: A different spin on Tigra First of all I like this idea for a character; combining 2 seperate, different types into 1. I remember the Marvel Write-up of Tigra you could easily make her a Standard Power Level character. 1-What is the source of her power? 2- I assume you are planning to use Shapeshift, correct? 3- Why is she a hero? What is her background? Quote

What is her background? Catherine's a mutant. The daughter of a dancer/showgirl and an unknown father, her powers manifested themselves at puberty. (She didn't find out who her father was until she became an adult.) Catherine practiced with her powers until she could control them. After working full time as a waitress for several years, she worked her way through college as an exotic dancer. I'm not going to use Shapeshift. I'm going to use "OIHID" for the were form and only in tiger form for that. She's not a hero. She's either a police scientist or a police officer with unusual abilities. Quote
FenrisUlf Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Re: A different spin on Tigra I always did like Tigra. Good luck with this. Quote
Shaft Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Re: A different spin on Tigra I like the idea of her being in the CSI. With her heightened senses, she's a natural at spotting/smelling evidence. Catherine, as I recall, is a blood-spatter specialist. Adding KS: scent identification might be a cool skill to add too. Actually, a super CSI team might be cool too: Combinining Gil Grissom's entymology and overall expertise with Hank Pym's Ant-Man background (and shrinking- useful for examining DNA) is a very cool idea. Plus Hank Pym is an overall genius and gadgeteer, as is Grissom. Warrick Brown's specialty is AV analysis. Adding Postcognitive abilities as a power might be cool too, although there might be problems with using a power like that in court. The postcognition could be used as the first step in knowing where to find evidence. Other cool abilities might be the ability to listen in on radio frequencies. As I recall, Brown has a sharp memory (he can count cards when he gambles), so upgrading his memory to be fully photographic can't hurt either. Nick Stoke's specialty is fibre and hair analysis. I'd add microscopic vision or a ranged sense of analytical touch- allowing him to feel fibres at a distance, without disturbing the evidence. This ranged sense of touch can be as sensitive as Dardevil's allowing him to read ink on a page without looking at it. Sara Sidle is supposed to be a materials and element analyst. I kinda like the idea of making her use magic to analyse evidence- maybe combining her with the Scarlet Witch, but less with the reality alteration and mroe with the reality observation. Quote

I once considered giving Sara the ability to run at 60 mph indefinately and 120 mph for three minute spurts. Quote
Mark Rand Posted July 3, 2007 Author Report Posted July 3, 2007 Re: A different spin on Tigra More stuff. Catherine has had the combat training all police dogs have. Of course, since she has human intelligence, she picked it up a lot faster than the dogs do. Also, being a 600 pound tiger, she can hit harder than a 70 pound dog. She probably also gets along well with the police dogs. Using her in Gotham City, she'd have grown up there and be one of the few honest police officers in the city. Additionally, having been an exotic dancer, Catherine has many contacts in the industry. Quote
