It's not included in Sidekick, but it's mentioned.

 

From the sidebar on page 40:

The full HERO System rules contain several more Powers that characters

can buy:

 

Absorption, the power to absorb incoming attacks and use them to enhance the power of

one’s own Characteristics or Powers

---

 

I have to admit that it's not a power I've ever used.

While I can understand that Sidekick is a summary and not designed to undercut Hero System sales, it would have been useful to know what is NOT included in Sidekick before I purchased it - the description was incredibly vague.

 

Likewise, since I can't seem to find it - I'm assuming that Variable Point Pools are not included in Sidekick either right?

A few years ago our board colleague arcady posted a listing of things from the main rulebook that aren't included in SK. He called it a "partial list", but it's still pretty darn thorough:
