DocMan
Trying to figure out how to build powers where two or more members of a team have to work together in order to get the effect. For example: Inferno has a bright flash attack that can target one person. His teammate Prism is a living diamond. In the comics, Inferno should be able to focus his flash attack *through* Prism's body to hit multiple targets, or to effect an area. How do you build this? Is this just a naked advantage on the existing flash attack with a focus (Prism) and a Skill Roll (Teamwork)? Does Inferno pay all the points for this, or is it shared? Another example: Prism can use ambient light hitting his body and focus it into a laser beam (Energy Blast). His teammate Graviton can create gravitic lenses to further focus the beam into a smaller and more intense beam. This beam can cut through things that Prism's unmodified beam cannot. In this case both teammates must coordinate with Teamwork and use an active power. How do we build this? And who pays the points? prestidigitator
Re: Teamwork powers There's a Limitation specifically for this. See Requires Multiple Users on 5ER p.306. I believe it also used to be called Ritual in Fantasy Hero. Possibly you could also have them split the cost and buy it like you mentioned. Or maybe give the one that can modify the other's power a Power Skill that is UBO/UAA and limited to the appropriate SFX.
Utech
Re: Teamwork powers You may wish to simply make clever power combinations free in your game world -- perhaps with a required Teamwork Roll (or something similar). Remember that this sort of thing requires two characters to work together on a single action rather than independently taking one action each. You might rule this is how they "pay for" their combo attack.
Lucius
Re: Teamwork powers I might consider requiring not only a Teamwork roll, but a Power Skill roll. And possibly the allocation of Combat Levels, as with a "bounce." If you want the players to have to spend points with it, aside from the "Multiple Users" Limitation, I think you can use "Crew Served" and possibly even a further limitation to reflect the fact that very few people, perhaps only one specific person in the world, is suitable "crew." Lucius Alexander Did the palindromedary eat my tagline?
Sean Waters
Re: Teamwork powers First off you could possibly do this kind of thing - on a one off basis - with a Power Skill roll. If you want to do it regularly, someone needs to shell out points. If Inferno can use any prism to create an AoE, buy a partially limited advantage: 10d6 Sight Flash: 50 points AoE radius on that: 50 points ONLY WHEN FOCUSED THROUGH A PRISM -1 (?): 25 points Total 75 points OR if Prism can change any light based power into an AoE: AoE radius Naked advantage for up to 60 active points: 30 points UBO: +1/4 Can not use with own powers: -1/2 Only with light powers: -1/2 Total 18 points
