Ice Mario

Before I describe what I am trying to build, I will add that I sometimes think that a thread about building Super Mario Power-Ups in general would be pretty fun.

 

But in this thread, I am wondering about how to build a specific Power-Up: Ice Mario from Super Mario Galaxy.

 

Ice Mario creates hexes of ice for him to travel across liquid surfaces (specifically water and lava in the game).

 

This happens upon contact with such surfaces, whether horizontal or vertical (there are jumping obstacles along waterfalls that involve this).

 

The ice hexes last for several seconds before dissolving, and Ice Mario can also skate across them.I have thought of using a modified version of the Ice Slides power from USPD, but there's something not quite satisfactory about it... I don't know why.

 

So does anyone here have ideas?

first thought is Flight with Physical manifestation or Super leap, again with physical manifestation

I've written a similar power for a guy with ice powers:

 

Instant Ice Bridge: Swimming +8m; Only on Surface (-1)

 

Also:

 

Dry Ice Fog: Change Environment, 8m Radius, -4 Temperature Levels, -4 Normal Sight PER, -4 DCV, Costs Endurance to Activate (+¼), Personal Immunity (+¼); No Range (-½)
