Michael Hopcroft
Later this year the sequel to the once-popular MMORPG Guild Wars comes out, and I've visited the web site a couple of times. I don't know if the game appeals to me yet (some parts of their "MMO Manifesto" sound like nonsense, and I'm pretty much hopeless at MMOs), but the videos show characters using some pretty neat Super-Skill attacks. I won't go into a list of the abilities they've posted to the site, which I hope isn't all-inclusive, but I was wondering if any of them thought these were things they could use. Some seem easy to model, like a couple of Area-of-Effect RKAs that Rangers use, and none of them look all that difficult to model. They do look expensive, though, so a GW2 campaign would probably be rather high-powered. It also seems to have the problem that a lot of the monsters exists solely so that PCs can slay them, and some of the critters in the clips display rather stupid behavior so that they can fall into the PCs traps. Narf the Mouse
Re: Guild Wars 2-style campaigns and characters The game sounds awesome and so does their MMO Manifesto. Whether it lives up to that potential is another thing.
