Bobby Walker
I'm about to start my first Champions game, and I'm wanting to create an opponent that will face off against each player individually. Then when grouped up the (probably four) players would be powerful enough defeat the opponent. My question is, what point level using Standard Superheroic as a campaign base, should I build this individual on?
Hyper-Man
Re: All against one Points for NPC's are really only important if the PC's have some type of adjustment or 'Mimic' powers. The better 'measuring stick' for the situation you describe is really combat abilities (CV, Def, maximum DC attack, etc...). It is quite easy to make a 1000 point skill/perk/talent heavy character who is outclassed in the combat arena by a 350-400 point character. If you really want the one-on-one fights to be close you should have the player's characters in hand when setting the power level of this uber-opponent. This is very similar to a request posted on my JLA-350 thread for my version of Doomsday (who once killed Superman).
BoloOfEarth
Re: All against one Mostly agreed with Hyper-Man, though you can make someone that is great against one or two but not against a team without tailoring him to the heroes. For instance, the old Minuteman robots (I think from 3rd or 4th edition?) had a force field that switched between PD and ED depending upon what it was last hit with. So two of my players -- a brick and an energy projector -- alternated hitting it, thus effectively nullifying that additional defense.
