Telepresence robot suits.

In the Mutant in Orbit RPG book the forced on the Earth's moon utilize telepresence suits that allow operators to sit safely in armored bunkers, while the battles are done by robots who the operators see as their own bodies when in their suits. Range is limited by normal communications barriers like the speed of light (they can't operate too far away from the moon, or there becomes a lag time in control). Other than that it's a secure network. If one robot is destroyed, the pilot can be switched to another.

What's the best way to creates these forces?

Re: Telepresence robot suits.

I don't think the stretching would work, as the robots are gigantic battle machines fighting on the moon's surface, and the pilots are just normal pilots. Stretching would just allow them to reach with their normal hands.

If I was going to be sly with the rules I'd say add the Ranged and Indirect advantage to a pool of vehicles (for instance, a 300 point mech with 8 duplicates). Then you can pilot them from anywhere?...

Duplication would be closer, but then they can loose bodies and get news ones easily, even if they must travel from the base hanger back to the fight area.

Re: Telepresence robot suits.

Buy the Streching w/ Does Not cross intervening space, Megascale, Focus-Remote Control,Blocked by things that block Radio(most likely some other Modifiers too), the special effect is the "Remote Control" of the Robots built as Vehicles. Now this would expensive but it would work. Oh of course you would need Clairsentence with megascale too.

Re: Telepresence robot suits.

Buy them as vehicles, purchased by the organization the pilots are working for. A Mind Link, Affected as Another Sense (Radio), will allow the pilots to control them. If the robots have the ability to function without a pilot to any degree (beyond standing still), then they should be purchased as Automatons. If you want some ideas as to builds, BattleTech has hundreds of pre-designed mechs available, with all kinds of weapons load-outs.
