Penthau
I already have the softcover 5e Fantasy Hero and was considering the 6e version (probably PDF) but didn't want to buy it if it was 95% the same as the 5e version. Can anyone who has both give an idea of how similar they are?

Ternaugh
Re: How similar are Fantasy Hero 5e and 6e? The two are largely similar. 6e adds tons of color artwork and flavor quotes, and of course, updates game-related stuff to the 6e rules. There are a few more perks in 6e, and a few more example FH Powers scattered through its section. Skipping over much of the next sections (largely similar), 6e has a more example magic systems. The sample characters section has been updated, and now includes a few more "stock" opponents. Strangely, the 4 sample locations in 5e are missing from the 6e book. The difference in page count between the two books is largely due to the increase in art and flavor quotes. There are some adjustments for 6e, especially in things like racial packages and sample characters, but the basic text that's not based on version-specific stuff is exactly the same. I personally don't like the flavor text, as it frequently breaks up the layout, and in certain places, is actually longer than the stuff that it's giving "flavor" to. 5e FH seems easier to navigate to me, but YMMV. In summary, with the exception of some new art and flavor text, the books are largely the same. 90-95% is about right for the core similarities. mhd
Re: How similar are Fantasy Hero 5e and 6e? 6E is basically an unofficial reprint of Lyndon Hardy's "Master of the Five Magics". With a few pages of RPG stuff to deceive the lawyers.
