Background/History: When the survivors of Ragnarok returned to the broken and hollowed realms of Asgard from their prison in limbo, the first order was to heal the lands. Grudges and wars were put aside while the Gods, Giants, Elves, Dwarves, and even Trolls worked together to brign their lands back. As things settled and tensions began to build among the disparate peoples, a council was conveined where representatives established the new lands and a new truce.

 

Modi was crowned king of Asgard, though he took it somewhat reluctantly. Watching as Magni and Thrud and others ventured to the Earthrealm while he had to preside over treaties and settle the arguments of petty gods and giants was difficult. But the honor and duty was his and he set about being a worthy king.

 

Fortunately, there has been excitement in Asgard as earthrealm mages and so-called "super-beings" make visits to New Asgard on occasion and more recently (and more sinisterly) beings from another dimension have appeared in isolated areas and attacked settlements and individuals. Though the majority of these invaders are barely more than the mortals Asgard used to lord over, they have some truely impressive members and in clashes with them, Modi's forces have tasted defeat as well as victory. These invaders haven't yet attempted communication. 

 

Personality/Motivation: In his youth, he was the God of Courage and leader of the Berserkers, warriors who gained strength while going into a violent trance. Since taking up his father's artifacts and his grandfather's duties, the driven Modi has forged his personality into something more befitting a warrior king.

 

though his ownership of the Skies and storms fits in well with his self-image, he feels somewhat embarrassed over his dominion of agriculture - he's something of a hobbyist gardener now. Modi is fearless in all things and stubborn as the day is long. He has refused to give an eye to the Tree of Knowledge as he worries it would reduce him to a paranoid fool.

 

As part of his trappings of rulership he now commands Huginn and Muninn, Odin's ravens who were reborn after ragnarok. He also has two hounds he raised from pups and named Hollr (Loyal) and Vider (Hunting). He loves his pets very much.

 

Though he is a wise and just ruler - managing to avoid some of the self serving mystery of Odin, Modi occasionally feels cooped up while his brother and sister enjoy grand adventures on Midgard. When it gets too much he goes searching for adventures on his own...or finds comfort in the firey passions of Syrrah, the daughter of his father's and grandfather's enemy, Surtur.

Powers/Tactics: Aside from advanced forms of  the typical physical and mystical powers afforded the Asgardians, Modi has a powerful magic pool with respects to Weather and Agriculture. He also carries his father's artifacts, Mjolnir (Hammer), Jarngreipr (gauntlets), and Megingjord (belt) giving him tremendous powers. The Crown Gungir also gives him "Clear Vision" allowing him to see great distances and strike true. He's also quite fearless, resistant to Presence Attacks, Mental Attacks and Drains with fear effects.

 

Campaign Use: 

 

Appearance: Modi is tall and imposing, with long black hair and green eyes. He favors clothing of dark blue, gray, brown and black, though often with green accessories (gems and such). As the current Lord King of Asgard he wears a golden crown crafted from the remnants of Odin's Spear, Gungnir.

 

Despite being a warrior and berserker, Modi has become an able Diplomat and he projects a calm strength in the presence of others and is quick with a smile or a joke, if the situation warrants it (and occasionally when it doesn't) 

 

 

 

 

Work in Progress for the Child of Thor and Sif, and current King of New Asgard. Modi is the suffering older brother to Earth heroes Magni and Thrud. He takes his rulership of New Asgard seriously, holds his father's icons of power and portfolios of influence,  and has toned down his berserker ways...though he's still fearless. (And he finds his newfound concern for agriculture somewhat stultifying and embarrassing
