Babylon City Museum and Discovery Center

Originally the Eastern Airline corporate center and holding facility, since the late 80s has been repurposed to the Babylon City Museum and Discovery Center after the airline went under due to deregulation.  The museum holds a large number of local artists of both recent and historic relevance due to a large number of wealthy patrons.  It also houses a historical and natural history museum specializing in the local area but containing a few interesting standing exhibits from farther out.  These standing exhibits include the mummy/Egyptian history attraction, the Salem attraction (popular during Halloween), and the Greek Gods exhibit.  Funding for these exhibits are made by various wealthy patrons usually during extravagant balls at the museum.

Unconfirmed rumors of ghosts and fairies running around at night in the museum are constantly being squashed by the management.  Break ins (or outs) seem to be constantly happening but few items are ever stolen.  Management has noted that the extreme security measures in place have protected the vast majority of historical artifacts preventing their theft.  However, the news attributes the ratios of break ins to successful thefts to the action of local superheroes/vigilantes.

The Dollhouse (Strip Club)

The Dollhouse is a strip club run by the mob in the warehouse district.  Due to a zoning eccentricity, the club is perfectly legal and is the only strip club in the city proper.  Organized crime controls the location and generally prevents major crime from openly taking place at the location.  The club is well maintained and looks like a high end strip club like you would find in Vegas or New York.  Attempted stings by the police and investigative reporters have failed (possibly due to leaks) to show wrong doing initiated by the employees.  Even with this, the club is a known as a place of drugs and prostitution.  Many different gangs meet up there mostly to be entertained.  The mob harshly handles people who violate the peace in the club.

The Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza

Every 4th of July, at around 9:30PM until 10:00PM, Babylon City hosts a large fireworks display over the water.  The Waterfront teems with people during this time as well as dozens of pick pockets, vandal, and other assorted netherdowells who prey on the large gathering of people.  The show is hosted by the Mayor but usually has a fire/light wielding super as co-host and a famous band as musical guest.  Broadcasted on a couple of local radio stations, several of the stations offer music themed and timed with the display.  Television also brings about news of the display with highlights being shown on the nightly news.  Police work overtime as the celebration has had in the past also hosted several supervillain rampages using the celebration either for publicity or as cover.

O'Reilly US Merchant Command and Coordination Center

This partial military base was set up to facilitate actions of the merchant marines in this area during World War II.  Today, the area acts as a coordination center and a veterans affairs unit for the Merchant Marines.  Due to the volume of goods passing through the waters of Babylon City, O'Reilly's base has expanded and provides passing mariners others amenities such as store, the merchant marines bank, and urgent care facility.  It also acts as part of the coast guard base of operations since World War I, though its use in modern times is limited mostly to natural disaster coordination.
