phydaux
What are some good skills for a mystic? The character has the Magic skill to run her VPP. That's a given. She also has the Scientist framework, as well as the Scholar framework. I'm looking to flesh out her background with some more KS and SS skills. For KS skills I've got Occultism and The Four Realities (or The Four Whatevers from CU, I just don't have my copy of CU with me). I'd like a few other KS skills. For SS skils she has Paraphysics (the how and why of paranormals and superpowers). I'm wondering what other sciences might be good for a mystic? Thanks, phy
Battlestaff
KS: Mystic Artifacts KS: Supernatural Beings KS: Vampires (or any other specific creature) KS: Eastern Philosophy/Mysticism KS: American Indian Philosophy/Mysticism KS: Arcane Lore KS: Dangerous Cults KS: Artifact Crafting (use PS: Artifact Crafting to build it) SS: Gemology (to analyze crystals and gems involved in magic) SS: Psychology (to deal with mystic victims)
Lord Liaden
Since this is for a Champions character, I thought I'd leaf through my copy of The Ultimate Super Mage for some suggestions: Analyze Magic, to determine the style and power level of a foe; Dimensional Navigation, if the character does the dimension-hopping thing; AK: Other Dimension(s), related to above; KS: Cosmic Entities (the dimension lords and other bigwigs); KS: The Mystic World (who's who in the occult subculture); KS: Occultism (concepts and legends of a particular occult tradition, such as Voodoo or Kaballah); Possible SS: Parapsychology, Alchemy, Botany or Herbal Pharmacology (part of many mystic traditions), Archaelogy, Cryptozoology (beasts of myth and folklore); Languages - mages usually know several ancient or obscure tongues, especially those associated with mystic traditions. Lightray
There are also mystic traditions -- Hermetic, Cabbalistic, Wiccan, etc. Make sure you have the appropriate KS for your tradition.

That's the thing - She's a non-traditional, "modern" mystic who studies mysticism from the vantagepoint of paraphysicial science. I think I'll drop the Scientist framework, jack up her Paraphysics then max out on KS skills. Thanks guys!
