  1. Re: Any Idea When Golden Age Champions Is Coming Out?

Well' date=' it was and it wasn't. This was the era when "The Spectre" killed criminals ( relatively minor ones if I remember) by having them look into his eyes remember ![/quote']

Strange how people often then the Golden Age of comics was "light" or "silly". The reality was rather different.

I blame Roy Thomas, as he is responsible for most people's impression of the Golden Age through the Invaders, All-Star Squadron, etc...

If people read comics truly written in Golden Age, they would come to a different impression.

  2. Re: Your Dream Projects For Hero Books

Well, if we can put you down for, let's say, 10,000 copies of each and get a deposit, I'll get right to work. Otherwise I'm afraid we've gotta stick with the books that will sell well. ;)

Believe me, I would love to write all of the books I listed. But sheer desire has very little to do with it. I have to be able to pay my employees, and none of the listed books will sell well enough to justify the effort and resources required to do 'em right.

So, if I have a spare, say $250,000, laying around, I could get you to publish Danger International? Sounds good to me. I will get back to you when I hit it big. :D

Was it AC? After you mentioned it' date=' I dimly remember something along those lines. The title "The Ultimate Mastermind" jumps into my mind, but I know that is just wishful thinking :D[/quote']

It was in an AC issue and it out lined a number of upcoming releases. Most never came out, unfortunately. I do recall that they talked about Champions of the Rising Sun, a Champions sourcebook for Japan.

The number of proposed books that have never become reality is depressing.

I really wish that Champions on the Bay, had come out. It was to be a Champions sourcebook to update the Protectors to 4th Edition and information of San Franciso area.

  4. Re: Your Dream Projects For Hero Books

I hadn't really thought about this as a HERO supplement before, so I only have a hastily thrown together working title:

    Mastermind Support

I wanna be a super villain, but I don't know where to start!

Where do I get henchmen from?

    Who makes villain costumes?

How do I get the plans to the museum?

What's a good schtick to use?

Meet the services behind the super villains. A network of spies, mercenaries, gadgeteers, information brokers and more dedicated to supplying the super villain industry.

I created a lot of this information already, and would be fun to translate it into a gaming supplement.

Years (and I means years, like around 3rd/4th Edition) ago, in one issues of the Adventure Club, they detailed that something like that as an upcoming release.

  5. Re: Your Dream Projects For Hero Books

Sure, but they all pretty much fall into the same category: books that would require so much effort and time to write that they're not worth the effort in terms of the return they'd bring:

    Victorian Hero

    Western Hero

    Danger International

    The Ultimate Weapon

The Gamer's Guide to Nazi Germany

    The Pulp Resource Guide

    Dark Champions Battlegrounds

...and on and on. I always have lots of ideas for books I want to write. The problem is finding the time to write 'em, and making 'em profitable once written.

Strangely, however, these sounds like the kind of books I would really like and gladly purchase. :)

  6. Re: Steve's Chat Tonight

Contagion, most of the conversation was questions that you could find the answers within the threads if you read various threads. Nothing really sticks out in my mind as something totally new, but again I was tired so maybe I'm forgetting something.

Steve gave updates on the status of a few books going to print or hitting the warehouse.

Oh and 6th edition is going to be two books...I missed that from the threads and so I learned something new from the chat ;)

Hardcover and in color as well.

  7. Re: Information for HERO/Champions Fans About The Champions Online MMO

Either have I...I am also worried about whether I will want to play it on PC or Xbox 360. My PC is a little underpowered so I might be in the market for an Xbox 360 when the game nears release.

Honestly, I am hoping for a Wii release. What, it is a good gaming platform and the Wii control would make really fun. Since that is not likely to happen, I am hoping for it will come to the PS3. My wife like the games that are exclusive to the PS3; and I would hate to have to buy a Xbox as well. :D

  8. Re: Information for HERO/Champions Fans About The Champions Online MMO

Absolutely. In fact' date=' some of that sort of thing you'll see in books due out this year -- for example, when we publish [i']Champions Beyond,[/i] it'll be chock-full of Cryptic art depicting the Qularr, the Elder Worm, and so on. Most of that sort of thing has never been seen, so we can "dovetail" the MMO and the RPG immediately, to the enrichment of both.

Whether, and to what extent, we'll start switching depictions of existing characters, is an issue yet to be decided. But at the very latest, when we launch a new Champions and Champions Universe in mid-late 2009, the Cryptic vision for things will be the controlling one. They own the IP; that's their privilege. It would be kinda hypocritical of me to think otherwise, since I gleefully tossed CLOWN and whatever else I didn't like out the door back in 2002. ;)

So they could bring back CLOWN if they wanted? (Please do not hurt me :slap:)
