  1. Re: Champions Sneak Peek #1: The Cover! Maybe a bit late, but I love the cover artwork. It screams action. It is AWETASTIC!!
  2. Re: Ran my first hero system game yesterday. Thanks for the responses. Thai: I did mean Damage class not OCV/DCV but thanks for your suggestion, it could be pretty helpful for some. Bigbywolfe: After re-reading the rules I was iffy on during the game I now feel pretty confident that I now have them sorted (in my head anyway ;P ). If something comes up I will be sure to ask Azato: Thanks for the links, they are exactly what I was after, you rock sir.
  3. Well after a few weeks of reading the rules and getting everyones characters created I finally ran my very first Hero System game. It went over well with all the players, they are now keen to go through the rules and learn more themselves. (I had just converted their characters from our Mutants & Masterminds game) Combat ran smooth though I did get a little confused at times with adding to DC and the different damage types but I think I did it mostly right. (Going to have another read through to make fix up any rules mistakes that may have been made) Overall though I and more importantly my players enjoyed it and I am already looking forward to running my next session in a few days time. Oh may be a silly question, but is there a GM screen coming out soon for 6th ed? Would be very helpful as I wouldn't have to keep flipping between all the tables I had book marked.
  4. Re: Open Followup to Steve Long's answer about being sleep deprived The longest I went without sleep was 72 hours. Near the 72 hour mark, when I was walking around I could hear a crowd of people talking but couldn't understand what they were saying so I would stop and listen only to have the voices stop. This continued a few times till I decided it was best to go to sleep Also I found myself intensely focusing on tasks.
  5. Re: New to Hero Welcome to the Hero system. I have only just got the 6th edition books myself about a week ago and read through them. While yes the books are HUGE!! (which is awesome) I dont think the rules are too hard. Like any new game it may take a little time for everyone to get used to them but there wasn't anything I read that I didnt understand. I plan on running my first game after boxing day with players who have never used the system so we can give you a write up of how it went if you would like.
  6. Re: Base Line Hero Thanks for posting up how you do it. I am keen to absorb the different methods people use till I can create or find one that is right for me. I like your method and would probably eventually adopt something similar the only draw back I see is that it requires a pretty intimate knowledge of the system in play and myself being new still does not know how things on paper equate to things in play. So I plan on using a combination of the rule of x as discussed in another thread and also keeping an eye on the average stats table for the different cost scales (Can't remember the table name don’t have the book in front of me)
  7. Re: Rule of X Thanks, thats exactly the kind of information I was after. I think I will use an X of 15 as you suggested.
  8. Re: Rule of X Hi Fox The rule of X I am refering too is in 6E2 page 282 I guess people must not use it in their campaigns. If that is the case, how do you guys make sure that characters are balanced for a lower end campaign?
  9. Hi guys I am new to the Hero system and have just finished reading the rule books. I am going to be running a Heroic Street level, Iron Age game with a dash of horror with the system. I have set the character build points at 200 with 25 points of complications (I don’t want too many complications as the setting is a little strange and the players sort of wake up not knowing who or where they are or how they got there) So the typical fights that the players will encounter will be with thugs and gangers the odd mutant with some sort of low end power. So with all that, could you help suggest a good points limit for the rule of x? I like the rule just without having played or run it before I am finding it hard to actually work out one that would be fair and help maintain the low end street level feel. Thanks in advance
  10. Re: New to Hero Ooo CthulhuTech now thats a game I am tempted.. no no focus focus. Well For now I will be converting my Mutants & Masterminds campaign to Hero system. It is an Iron Age/ Street level/ Horror setting. I was just playing around with hero designer (at work )and converted one of the player characters to Hero and it works perfectly, actually he works better than what he was in M&M. After getting the hang of the rules and running some games I will look at converting my old D&D setting to Hero. I was getting a lot of ideas from just reading the rule books.
  11. Re: HERO SYSTEM MARTIAL ARTS -- What Do *You* Want To See? I would like to see the style Muay Thai with knee strikes, elbow strikes, headbutts and spinning backfists.
  12. Re: New to Hero Thanks guys, I am just starting to read Volume 2 of the core books, so I will get to the combat system soon.
  13. Hi guys I have been a long time roleplayer but only the other day did I buy my first Hero system books. I have been reading through the 6th edition stuff and I have to say I love it. I am fully converted. I used to gm some Mutants & Masterminds, I loved the flexibility of their character creation system but the combat system really struck me as dull. For some reason in an age where everyone is dumbing down their rules systems to appeal to the younger (please don’t make me have to think market ) I seem to be attracted to more crunch in my rules. So looks like my Mutants & Masterminds game will be converted to the Hero system. It just seems to have the stuff I like in M&M but does it better and has more IMO. Also as I read the Hero system I can't help but want to use the system as a replacement for D&D. As you can probably guess from my previous statements I am not a fan of the 4th edition. Anyway just wanted to say I am a new gamer to your system, I was drawn to it by the rules, the fantastic production value of the new books and more importantly the sheer size of the volumes. I find them to be fantastic value for money. I can’t wait to start playing.
