  1. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive I just got home from work and found that mine arrived today by USPS, postmarked 11/13.
  2. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Have the recent GenCon pre-order arrivals come UPS or USPS? If they're all one or the other it'd be a little easier to know when/where to check.
  3. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Exact same situation here. The two of us from my gaming group who pre-ordered at GenCon have not received it yet.
  4. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive I don't think that word means what you think it means.
  5. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive If you're anything like me, you're waiting for copies of the books you ordered at GenCon but could have purchased at your local game store over 2 weeks ago. Oh, and a response to a PM that's also over 2 weeks old.
  6. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Yeah, last name starting with H here and still no sign of them.
  7. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Count me among those still waiting.
  8. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Can you see where certain expectations were raised? Unless GenCon pre-orders were over 90% of the total, then none of them ought to still be in the queue. First In, First Out would have saved a lot of the frustrations expressed here on the boards. This sounds odd, given that multiple people are reporting not receiving responses to such inquiries for over a week now.
  9. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive My local game store has copies but my GenCon pre-order hasn't arrived yet. If I'd known I could support my local retailer and get a copy faster by doing so, I would have.
  10. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive UPS guy came to the door yesterday... only to deliver meds for the cat.
  11. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Where I live we have mailboxes for the whole block's worth of houses on one corner, with a couple large lockable boxes for packages. The USPS once put a delivery of checks in one of the lockables and never bothered to remove the key or give it to me. Best we could determine they sat in the unlocked box for over a week. I also get mail weekly for another house with the same house number and the same first two letters of the street name. Thus my anxiety about not knowing the delivery method or expected date.
  12. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Just wish there was some way to see if it was shipped or know whether to expect UPS or USPS. It was a GenCon order so that explains the lack of an entry on the user cp, right?
  13. Re: The Force (Continuing Powers Project) Wyrm, Did you ever create that web page?
  14. I've been thinking the same thing but looking at the opposite approach. What I'm considering is using a VPP (Powers can be Changed as Zero Phase Action(+1), Only for Known Force Powers(-1/4?)) and having a separate Power skill for each power. The character only gains the ability to use the power once they learn the appropriate skill. I would base the individual Power skills largely on attributes that others are using for the three skill (Alter, Control, Sense) version. This would do a couple things for me. It would make Force powers accessibly costed in a heroic game (as any power framework approach does.) It would allow a single character to have different degrees of expertise in the various Force abilities. It would also allow me to add a Dark Side set of Power skills as Everyman skills for Force Sensitive characters, tempting them to use those skills on occasion. "The Dark Side is quicker, easier, not more powerful."
  15. Supporting SH Buying the books and bringing in new players have to be the two biggest shows of support possible. Good work! I'm covered on the first and working toward the second.
  16. Re: Re: Re: Alien War: Chemical Rockets ?!? You're right, the dates have to be for the specific designs. By the 24th C, chemical rockets have been around for millennia, centuries if we're talking liquid fuel and/or those actually used in space. An introduction date of 2253 with UTES 7 has to represent a new spin on an old idea. It might still make sense to use chem rockets for attitude adjustment, etc. During docking maneuvers you wouldn't normally want to spray other ships with fusion thrust.
  17. Re: Alien War: Chemical Rockets ?!? Just acquired AW this afternoon. Seems to me that the first reference to chemical rockets in the Starships section is a typo/omission/oversight. The paragraph immediately below it specifically says that, "Humans commonly used chemical and fusion rockets for STL movement of starships." My emphasis. The accompanying table lists Fusion Rockets as being developed in 2253, easily in time to be in general use by the 24th century. Just say they're using fusion and roll from there. I wish this had been available two years ago when I started my SF campaign (Star Wars d20 mixed with Traveller 2300.) I'm more and more tempted to actually pull the trigger on converting to Hero.
  18. You're right. I found the answer in the Power Advantages and Add-Ons FAQs: Does BODY Q: If a character applies Does BODY to an RKA NND, do you calculate the BODY done as usual for a Killing Attack, or as if it were Normal Damage BODY? A: Calculate the BODY (and STUN) as usual for an RKA. An RKA NND that does not have Does BODY would also calculate its STUN damage as usual for an RKA; the BODY rolled of course does not apply to the target.
  19. This is what I initially thought, but a friend with more Hero experience pointed out that NND makes it a STUN Only attack. Then adding DOES BODY would turn it into a Normal Damage attack. This seems to be born out by the text of DOES BODY (p. 164,) "This Advantage allows Attack Powers which ordinarily do only STUN damage - such as Ego Attacks, AVLDs, and NNDs - to do BODY damage as well. The BODY damage done is counted like Normal Damage BODY..." That seems to be pretty definitive. Is there anything in FREd that discusses tallying NND Does Body like a normal KA?
  20. I run a d20 SW campaign and I'm considering a switch to Hero. Being a Hero newbie and looking at the lightsaber discussion I have a question. Doesn't DOES BODY when combined with NND or AVLD only get you back to doing normal damage? It seems to me that a 'saber should be doing killing damage rather than normal. Another thing that put me off a little was the energy sword writeup in Star Hero (p. 148) which uses RKA, No Range (-1/2.) HKA specifically lists the -1/2 limitation No STR Bonus (5th Ed., p. 124) which includes the desciptive text, "It might represent, for example, a lasersword..." HKA, No STR Bonus and RKA, No Range may be functional and cost equivalents, but the former seems a more elegant description of what's happening. Am I missing something?
