Heh. Well' date=' I suppose I [i']could[/i] delete the other two versions, but I won't. Not this time. I think it's kinda neat to see how the picture was "tweaked".

However, I will save that kind of progressin for the NGD Art thread. It's more of a work-in-progress deal anyway.

    Mags

I personally enjoy seeing the works in progress here. But other than image size, I can't figure out the difference between this version and the prior one--can you clue me in?

  2. Re: I Can't Believe He Played That!

I sometimes brought in an NPC hero named Vehicle. The basic concept was that an alien spacecraft had landed on an SUV (we called them "jeeps" back then), crushing it and its driver. Dismayed, the aliens worked quickly to fix what they'd done. Not realizing that the jeep and the driver were seperate things, they made them completely integrated--the poor driver could never leave the jeep again, but could control it as if it were part of his own body. And it had guns for some unknown reason.

    In a larger sense...

Looking at two -possibly- misspelled words in a 6,413 word article is an incredibly anal way to attempt to discredit it.

That constitutes only 0.03% of the article.

You want to criticize it, criticize my points, or find something which is an actual consistent misuse of grammar or spelling.

You know, I thought you had a nicely written, interesting article. Theron helpfully pointed out an error that you might want to correct. He didn't seem to be trying to discredit it, just to help. In fact, he complimented your article in an earlier post. You came back and defended your (mis)use of the word, and I, knowing the difference between the two spellings, pointed out the correct usage. Nobody was discrediting your article, just offering helpful information.

FWIW, I wasn't responding to your article. I was responding to your post in which you were arguing about the usage.

After that we get the usual fair for the DnD-genre

The cultures are a lot richer than the usual DnD fair

Not that this is a big issue at all, in the greater scheme of things, but Theron was correct. These should both be "fare": "material provided for use, consumption, or enjoyment." (Merriam Webster)

  5. Re: Superhero Images

I was going to do those pictures for GGU' date=' and LOST(hiding head now) all my information on them. I went to the GGU site, and things looked really messed up. I haven't checked in a while, maybe things are better now.[/quote']The site's been having a lot of problems during the transition from HTML to PHP. I'd guess that at least a third of the links don't work right now. But things are slowly improving, and the games are definitely still active. If you're still interested in doing those characters, you should contact the art director there (artboss@globalguardians.com). There's definitely a huge need there for artists for PCs and NPCs. I know your efforts would be appreciated.

Havent been here in a long time' date=' my PC crashed, took most of my artwork with it. Here's my newest pic: Slipstream, for Hero Force in HC.[/quote']

Nice job. Hey, are you still planning to do some of the images for the GGU (I believe one of my characters was one of the long list you were sent), or have you moved on to other things?

  7. Re: Supervillain Images

Claws? Claws!? Uhm.... that's good to know. I imagined a brick-type ape.

The only description I got was: "Cyberangutan: Mostly covered with polished metal, the few patches of hair on Cyberangutan are of a red-orange hue. Most of the time, he wears some sort of bright colored sweatshirt and sweat pants. On missions, Cyberangutan wears a set of small tights that cover his entire

body except for the head and his cybernetic arms."

Since I can't access a write-up of the character, is there anything else you'd like to share regarding this character? That is, before I get much further with the picture? ;)

Here's a quote from one of Worldmaker's game turns featuring Cyberangutan. This is pretty much all I have on him--I just loved the visual of the claws spurting blue fluid.

  8. Re: Supervillain Images

Thanks. Odd as it may sound, it's kinda easy making a gigantic gorilla villain look scary and mean. But I will have my work cut out for me with Cyberangutan. I mean, I've already started on it, but how does one make a lovable, goofy orangatan look menacing?

Especially when the villain in questions likes to wear brightly-colored tights?

    Mags

Stick lots of cyber-stuff on the tights. Plus, the extendable claws dripping something noxious and blue will be plenty menacing... :jawdrop:

  9. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

Here is a birthday present for RDU Neil... guess there is advantages to having a flaky artist in your gaming group .

Pulse is one of Neil's oldest characters in RDU, but rarely gets played because poor ol' Neil is always doing the GMing!

Wow. I love this one. Thanks for sharing, Storn.

  10. Re: Superhero Images

These are the designs I did for the four active players in my campaign.

These are neat. I like the inset pictures you included--that's a cool idea. So where's the fourth character?

  11. Re: GGU NPCs For Review

If I might make a suggestion' date=' maybe Black Angus' additional running should be limited to "Straight line motion only"? Since it is a charging attack?[/quote']

I see the point of it, but to me, that would really cripple the character. Maybe a "turn mode" limitation? I'd be more inclined to lower the HA personally. The main problem with the character, to my mind, isn't his manueverability, but his incredible damage potential. Reducing the HA to 2d6 instead of 6d6 would be just about right, depending on the level of opponents he will be facing.

  12. Re: Black Angus

You're running the Masters of Mayhem? Do you have the write ups for the rest of them? I've only ever posted Black Angus.

Just Black Angus. He showed up at the Hero City opening to work out a grudge against Jungle Boy.

We'd e-mailed about this a while back on the NPC list--it's why the character was written up first and why he was audited quickly (by me). I was using the audited version, figuring that it was official, but I can change to this version. I'm just trying to understand how it works.

And I figured you were following every exciting turn of the campaign. :weep:

  13. Re: Black Angus

Only if you let him get a full head of steam up.

Since he can get up to that full velocity in a single phase with no turn mode (it being Running) and still attack, I don't see how that's difficult for him to do.

On another note, shouldn't there be some kind of limitation on the Line effect that limits it to space that he can run through? Otherwise, he could do a move through on, say, a Stop sign at the very end of his movement range, and therefore do damage to a superhero standing 20" away.

Since I'm running the character in a combat right now, I'm just trying to get my facts straight before proceeding. The audited version of the character was able to do something like 18d6 damage and dealt nasty damage to a PC in one phase. 22 1/2 d6 is more dice than I'm used to rolling, so before I hit a hapless PC with it, I want to make sure that I understand this revised version.

  14. Re: GGU NPCs For Review

I really like the "Bonobo genes" like. Yes, the female character that's free with her affections might be a cliche, but I've never seen one thats an intelligent ape before! :)

    What's the GGU?

It stands for Global Guardians Universe. I believe that it's the biggest Champions play by e-mail campaign world around. www.globalguardians.com

  15. Black Angus

As I read it, when performing a Move Through, Black Angus only has to hit DCV 3 (due to the Area of Effect Attack). When he does so, he easily do 22 1/2 d6 damage:

    • 10d6 from STR
    • 6d6 from the Hand Attack
    • 6 1/2 d6 from Velocity (20"/3)

This is before he does Knockback to his opponents, which, of course, he should.

Am I missing something, or is this a bit excessive?

  16. Re: Supervillain Images

I'm sorry about that, Rob. Abyss is supposed to be a scary individual, hence, lots of inky blackness. :D

By the way, Worldmaker likes it as is, so I guess the pic is done.

    Mags

That's cool. I like it as is and, like I said, part of it is probably my monitor.

  17. Re: Supervillain Images

Ok, it's not done yet, but what do you think of Abyss so far?

    Comments?

    Mags

I guess my monitor's too dark. Playing with it a bit in an image program, I can see that the picture has green and blue in it, but without that enhancement, it all looks black to me. I love the outline, but would like to see it be just a hair lighter.

  18. Re: GGU NPCs For Review

He knows how to make the weapons... not necessarily use them.

I find this difficult to believe. I can certainly accept that he wouldn't be good at using them, but for him not to know how to make them function? Surely he'd have to be able to test the weapons in some way to make them and would have to know their basic operations, controls, etc. in order to invent them. I just don't see it.

  19. Re: GGU NPCs For Review

    [/font]

    I'd give him Electronics.

Skills aside, I'd think that the premier weapon supplier of the GGU would have access to more powerful weaponry. The 60-point pool limits him to weapons with 60 active points. Compared to some of what's out there, that's pretty weak. I understand that he's not likely to have many powerful items with him at the same time, but that active cost needs to be bumped higher. Similarly, his "last line of defense" gun doesn't impress me a lot, either.

And shouldn't he have Weapons Familiarity with most modern weapons? Or is that rolled into Weaponsmith somehow?

  20. Re: GGU NPCs For Review

Believe it or not' date=' I have suspicions that this character's skill set just isn't complete enough. Any suggestions?
