  1. Expanded Preview Due to several requests, we have expanded the Omlevex preview so that you can see Drake Einstein's stats and bio. Check it out here!
  2. Re: Me Am Want Book! You bet. We'll have a full-blown press release for it when the time comes. I'll post it here in the "Omlevex Universe" thread to avoid having a whole bunch of Omlevex threads and annoying the moderators with 'em.
  3. Much appreciated, death tribble. I hope the rest of the book is just as appealling to you.
  4. Thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion. We might end up placing the stats for one of our villains up on the website soon, in order to show people the quality of the character stats themselves. Thanks again.
  5. More... These aren't Champions Universe master villains, but since Omlevex is dual-statted for Hero, I figured I'd make a list of the ones from there. Jonah Crimson Catastrophe Liege Lord The Dehumanizer Lazer Man Grunn, Bridger of a Thousand Worlds
  6. That's very high praise indeed. Thank you very much. Actually, that's what we were going for. Our goal was to make the reader stop from time to time, scratch his head and wonder if maybe there really was an Omlevex Comics Group. Hopefully in doing so the characters and setting will truly come to life, making it far more enthralling for the GM and players. That's our intent, in any case. Thanks. Believe it or not, I wasn't originally going to include them in the book. I figured people would want stats for all the supporting cast and we simply didn't have room to include them, considering we'd have to do so for three systems. I'm glad you like the art. The book contains well over 70 pieces, so hopefully you'll enjoy the rest of it as well.
  7. With Omlevex getting ready to head to the printers, we figured a preview was in order. So, without further hyperbole from me, I'll let the book (or at least a tiny part of it) speak for itself. So, check out this snippet from Chapter Four: Drake Einstein by clicking here!
  8. Update I just looked at the initial layout for Omlevex and it's a beautiful book indeed. Jeffrey Stephens has done a magnificent job and I think everyone will be bowled over when they lay eyes on it. The book's appearance captures the essence and spirit of the Silver Age comics... down to the last, most minute detail. For example, the page numbering is done the way Marvel did theirs during the 1960s -- inside a little circle in the bottom corner of each page. Furthermore, we were faced with a problem. You see, we simply had too much text to cram into a 128-page volume. Our choices were: a) cut out a bunch of text. increase the page count. Z-Man Games president Zev Shlasinger graciously opted to bump the book's page count up to 144 so our customers will get the unabridged Omlevex experience. Best of all, you'll get these 16 extra pages for absolutely no additional cost! The price remains $22.95.
  9. **bump** For some reason, the thread wasn't bumped when I made that last post.
  10. Page four of Drake Einstein issue #1 is posted.
  11. Thanks for understanding. Yes, this first book is extra important to the line as a whole, as it will be the benchmark and the foundation upon which future Omlevex sourcebooks are built.
  12. I'm not certain. If my publisher goes to DunDraCon, then yes. Otherwise, probably. I'll drop him a line and ask.
  13. Omlevex Update I was just informed that there's to be a slight delay for Omlevex. Our layout guru, Jeff Stephens, is hard at work on the book as we speak, but we're making certain that this product looks as good as any on the market. We could probably get truly close to the release date, though I would rather end up with a visually stunning late book than a less-than-stellar book that was rushed. We sincerely apologize for this delay, but we feel Omlevex will be worth the wait. In any case, it should be available in stores on or before the 2nd week of February. Thanks for your patience.
  14. Here's my take on the eras of comicbook history (and mind you, these are purely my viewpoints and opinions): Golden Age (1938-1945): Beginning with Superman's first appearance, this era was a whole lot of Nazi smashing and full of patriotic zeal. Very little focus on the personalities of the characters, but a lot of fun nonetheless. Pre-Silver Age (1946-1955): After the war, superhero comics faded from the spotlight in favor of horror, western, war and romance books. Dr. Wertham's twisted crusade against the artform nearly killed all comics and resulted in the creation of the Comics Code Authority. Silver Age (1956-1969): Showcase #4 marks the beginning of the Silver Age, but the era was really defined by Marvel Comics, whose groundbreaking Fantastic Four #1 really changed the way comics were written. The stories became more in-depth and a real focus on characterization developed. Bronze Age (1970-1985): Starting with Jack Kirby's move from Marvel to DC, this era started slowly moving toward experimental horizons. The medium began to try new things and push the boundries of what could be done with the format. Most of the material from this era was still fairly optimistic. Iron Age (1986-1993): This era came rushing in with the release of The Dark Knight Returns and The Watchmen, signalling a darker, grittier tone than the comics of previous periods. While not all the comics from the Iron Age were shrouded in bleakness, such comics became more rare. Modern Age (1994-current): The Bad Girl craze is what I feel began the age that emphasizes style over substance. Many comics went from 6-7 panels per page down to 4 panels per page. The art looks pretty but there's not as much story there. Also during this era, comic covers started to look more like pin-ups than covers (with Hero X rushing toward the reader, etc.). Fortunately, a lot of books did/do emphasize quality (Astro City, Authority, etc.).
  15. You're very welcome. I wish you luck in your Starlin quest. Let me know how it turns out.
  16. Glad to hear it. In the beginning, we were a bit worried that there might not be much of a demand or audience for a book dealing with Silver Age roleplaying, but I have to say, I've been pleased with the feedback we've gotten. I definitely think that it'll help us sales-wise. Plus, as a long-time Hero player/GM, having it opened up pleases me on a personal level. Thanks again for spreading the word.
  17. Yep, Ben here did a fantastic job with the conversions. Very accurate portrayals of the characters. I was most pleased. And, Ben, I'm stupendously glad you liked the book. I'm hoping everyone else will feel the same.
  18. Thank you very, very much for pimping Omlevex. You'd be surprised at how much that helps. When you're a relatively small company that can't afford a lot of expensive advertising, folks like you are a godsend. Again, thank you.
  19. Actually, Ueeba originates from the netherworld, but you'll learn more about all that soon enough. I don't have that info just yet. I'll post it to this thread the very minute I get word from Zev, my publisher. You can't go wrong with checking out issues of Warlock (aka Strange Tales featuring Warlock) and Captain Marvel (not the Fawcett/DC version). These represent the classic Starlin sci-fi style better than anything else, in my opinion. Just be prepared for some thought provoking, heady reading. Dreadstar was a really good comic, judging by the little bit of it I read, but it was a very different style of sci-fi than the stuff he did a bit earlier in his career. Very entertaining nonetheless. Somehow, it always reminded me of a hybrid between Star Wars and Masters of the Universe.
  20. We've posted a full color map of Metazon on the Universe section of the official Omlevex website. Metazon is a cluster of islands 465 miles off of America's east coast. This was where a large asteroid slammed into the earth millions of years ago, spreading around a green crystaline mineral called Omlevex. This substance is capable of turning normal humans into superhumans. Needless to say, Metazon is where most of the action in the Omlevex Universe takes place.
  21. Yes he does. Gotta love the Silver Age -- an era before the PC movement.
  22. Drake Einstein comic! The third page of the Drake Einstein comic is posted on the Omlevex website. Please go check it out. I'd like to point out that we've gone from weekly to bi-weekly in order to give us more time so we can make it even better. I think the leap in quality as a result is quite evident.
  23. Re: Re: Sneak Peek time I can definitely see what you're saying. That said, Thor's old Silver Age enemy, the Enchantress, was my primary inspiration for Mindressa.
  24. Thanks, Doug! I sure hope it lives up to your expectations. We've definitely put a lot of effort into getting the art to look and feel like the artwork found in the Silver Age comics. In fact, some of the artists we hire actually drew comics during that era (namely Dick Ayers and Herb Trimpe).
