  1. It would've been very similar to the Bronze Age IMO. Just not quite as developed style-wise.
  2. Very true. DC was rather staggered in comparison to Marvel in terms of developing into a more realistic/cynical style. Not that I don't like Silver Age DC, but I just don't feel it was of the same level as Marvel. Understandable. I dig the Bronze Age nearly as much as the Silver Age. In fact, we plan to "advance" the Omlevex setting to the Bronze Age later on down the line. I'm a Bronze Age child too, having started in the late '70s. I still love the comics of the era, but there's just something about the Silver Age (especially between '65 and '69) that really does it for me.
  3. Batman developed his unwillingness to kill very early in his career. I believe even before Robin came along. In any case, there were indeed exceptions to what I said. But the vast majority of the comics of the Golden Age were very optimistic in their tone and the heroes were indeed less cynical than they became in the Silver Age -- Superman, Capt. Freedom, Commando Yank, American Crusader, Hawkman, Capt. America, etc. Heroes like them were the status quo during the 1940s. Now, I'll grant you that the 1950s comics were indeed dumbed down and even more innocent that those of the 1940s. By the early '60s, Marvel started to really change the comics field with FF, Spidey and the rest, instilling more intricacy to the stories told.
  4. I'm glad you're enjoying the preview material. We'll be adding more as time goes on. Ahhhh yes. I'm quite fond of the American Gargoyle myself. "Part man, part monster -- ALL patriot!" I'm actually working on getting something up for those dastardly bad guys now. Hopefully, we'll get it posted to the site within a week. Plus, we're considering giving a few full preview characters -- stats and all. But that'll be closer to the book's release date. As would I. The Omlevex Universe and the characters that populate it are very dear to me (as I've been running games in it since '88) and nothing would please me more than for it to be a run-away success. We'll be doing at least one more Omlevex book. It will explore the more cosmic and mystical sides of the OU. If things go well, we'll be releasing a graphic novel that "compiles" the first 3 or 6 issues of one of the Omlevex titles. Heck, I already have a chunk of Drake Einstein issue #1 written, so we might use it. Who knows? My publisher is handling the specifics of that, but if you'd like to drop him a line, his email is zmangames@shadowfist.com . He'll be able to tell you for sure. Anyway, thanks again for your interest. Keep checking the Omlevex site for new developments.
  5. Getting back to the original topic, yes I run/play in Silver Age campaigns. In fact, 80% of the superhero games I run are set in the 1960s. To me, it offers a lot more freedom in terms of story-telling. There was an innocence about the era that has always sung to me. Not as much innocence as the Golden Age had, but certainly more than the more cynical modern comics. I feel it was the perfect mix between innocence and cynicism -- the heroes were good, the villains were evil, but the characters had begun to question things more. They weren't flawless archetypes as they often were in the previous decades. This strikes a nerve with me (in a good way) that compels me to return to that time in my games. In fact, I'm nearing completion on Omlevex, a Silver Age setting book that's compatible with Hero, SAS and M&M. You can find out more here.
  6. I'd like to thank you for all the kind words about Omlevex. We've been working very hard to ensure that the Omlevex Universe is extremely faithful to the Silver Age comics. Furthermore, we aim to make it enormously playable in all three game systems. If you have any questions or comments, by all means toss 'em our way. We're very interactive with our fans and as such, we're always interested in hearing what they have to say. Once again, thank you.
