  1. Powerman, my Superman class brick; he of 100 str, 23 dex, 50 pd, and 5 spd. Was constantly derrided by my fellow players because he had a few "More Powerful" Hunteds that kept showing up and making him look silly.

Then, he was mindcontrolled. Taken over by the GM, He attacked the rest of the team. He KILLED the martial artist in one shot, and although the team (500 pt campaign) generally had equall defenses/attacks as Powerman, he was the Big Gun as far as combat went and he scared the crap out of them.

His Archnemesis, Zepplin (bad name, but...) was basically Powermanx2. When we, as a team finally managed to defeat him, one of the characters coup de graced him when the rest of us, mostly me, had gone to help with the clean up.

  2. Oh, sorry, I have been working on C++ and my Fighting Game Hero Universe all day. Lets see a challenge....

A legacy hero (youngun) who's parent was a silver age villain. Post both the Villain and thier Heroic Progeny. While it would be nice if they had the same or similar powers, I won't hold you to a powerset because I am tired and cant think of one.

  3. I've got Strike Force, Serve and Protect, and I had Allies but it got lost in the move from college(and I'd like it back).

I found the "team books" to be the most sought after books from the "Comic License" games, DC & Marvel, but the CU lacks that kind of backdrop. However, I really think a book detailing some of the heroes of the CU, along with their rogues gallery if they haven't been written up already, perhaps broken down by archetype or team would be a welcome product.

I gotta tell you, I loved Watchers of the Dragon, the 3 main Enemies Books, Allies, Strike Force, Villany Unbound, VIPER, Classic ORganizations...etc. I really like seeing the Universe fleshed out more and more in an official manner, it makes it easier for me to insert my creations if I know who the Sentinals are, were, and may yet be.

  4. What about Atlas? Wasn't he a titan?

Didn't Prometheus have a brother, who was nice but dumb, dubbed Afterthought to Prometheus's Forethouught?

    Prometheus brought fire to man

Hyperion was the Sun Titan (and father of Helios)

the rest I am not sure of.

  5. Here is the Showman! Not much really, but...ShowmanPlayer: NPC; Defender of the Circus

    Height: 5' 8" Hair: Blonde
    Weight: 165 lbs Eyes: Blue
Appearance: Jason is a handsome man in his mid 20's. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. His costume is a silver body suit with black piping on the legs and arms. He wears white gloves, boots, and belt; a red mask and three golden rings adorn his chest in a triangle that points downwards. He adds to this a golden cape with a high collar.Personality: Jason's mission of vengence now over, he has taken to the spotlight of being a superhero. He still performs with local carnivals and circuses as a guest when he has time. He no longer has an all consuming goal and therefore can come across as lacksadasical.Quote:The difference between you and me Nighthawk; its that people LIKE to see me.Background: Born to a circus family, Jason Kelly was the fifth generation to perform for a living. At the age of 15 he made his debut. Of course, with superbeings to gawk at, the Circus wasn't the draw it once was. Jason and his family worked a Circus themed hotel/casino in Las Vegas, they performed 2 shows a night 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year. The owners of the hotel were in debt to their ears; it did well, but they were financial incompetants and their "side investments" routinely went bust. Jason's life was the Circus, he had done a little of everything, worked with animals, his family's acrobatics & high wire acts, clowning, even strongman stunts. When the owners of the Hotel finally hit bottom, they attempted to burn their hotel to the ground and use the insurance money to cover their debts.

Tragically, this, like their investments, was bungled horribly. One hundred and fourteen people lost their lives in the fire, including Jason's family. Jason, saved by the most miraculous of coincidences, was taken in by the survivors. He left the show life and went to college on a gymnastics scholarship to UCLA. It was during his college years that he found out that the fire that had claimed his parents and the only life he had ever known was arson. Although he knew who was responsible, and it was suspected by many; no proof linking the owners to the fire was ever found. Jason, hoping to avenge the memories of his fallen family cobbled together a costume and began poking his nose around Vegas.

Eventually, he found a connection between the owners of the hotel, and VIPER; it was then that he was able to solve the case, making a serious enemy of VIPER in the process. Enjoying the thrill of being a costumed hero, he altered his costumed identity towards the flashier Showman.

Powers/Tactics: A trained acrobat and martial artist, Jason is surprisingly strong and has excellent timing. He generally hops back and forth throughout combat smacking his foes and making one liners.Campaign Use: Hey, every campaign needs a circus themed hero right? Right?
  6. Okay, I am inspired. Working on my own team of 70's era heroes. I have:Thunder: DC had once thought to make Captain Marvel an African American hero. This, along with the picture on pg 16 of the CU book gave me Thunder. A Shazam like clone hero with a big afro.Little Dragon: A chinese-american who belives that he is the vessel for the recently (at the time) departed Bruce Lee. He has a masterful grasp of Wing Chun Kung fu and Jeet Kun Do. Also has some mystical ch'i abilitiesSeraphim:A beautiful woman with great black wings and Light manipulation powers. Inspired by Storn's Thunderbird art. Frogman:A humanoid frog, strong, with leaping abilities and eventually martial arts. He would have been called Frogger, but I'm sure that game came out in the 80's.Randall Ironsson of Dr John Randall Irons, basically a Doc Savage clone. Here is Thunder all written up...ThunderPlayer: NPC; Member of Force Five

    Height: 6' 4" Hair: Black
    Weight: 260 lbs Eyes: Brown
Appearance: A tall, well muscled African American male with a white costume. He has a golden T/Lighning Bolt on his Chest, in side the insignea is a fist (representing Black Power). His cape, boots, and trunks are blue. He wears his hair in a popular style for the time, in the 70's he has an afro, sideburns, and a soul patch. He wears a gold belt and no gloves or mask. Basically he is the guy on pg 16 of the Champions Universe book.Personality: Thunder is a fairly straight forward guy, good hearted, kind to children, respectful of his elders. He is kind of start struck by his powers and loves the media attention. During the Civil Rights movement, he acts as a spokesman for his people. However, like the Scarlet Shield from Detroit, his actions are often treated as suspect by both sides. Quote:"Hey baby, why not get with the REAL Chocolate Thunder!"

"I'm taking you in to the cops, on your feet or on a stretcher, its up to you!"

Background: Former Vietnam Vet turned firefighter, Dwayne Bruce was knocked unconscious trying to help an elderly man from an apartment complex fire in 1973. While he was unconscious he had a dream in which he was standing at the edge of a lake high in the mountains. The ground began to tremble, the water frothed, and up from the bottom of the lake appeared a gigantic humanoid with blue skin and a silver beard. The Giant told Dwayne that he had been chosen, for his bravery and his desire to help his fellow man, to bear the powers of the storm gods. Although Dwayne had trouble believing this, even in his dream, he accepted the responsibility.

When he awoke, he found that he had been in a coma for over three months! The doctors were shocked that he seemed to get bigger and stronger as the time passed, his muscles grew rather than atrophed. On his way home from the hospital he saw a child running into the street in front of an oncoming car. Willing himself to the scene, he grabbed the little girl and flew into the air. Realizing the vision of the giant was true, he developed the personae of Thunder.

Powers/Tactics: A classic brick, Thunder is a "Shazam" style original hero. He generally mixes it up with other strong men, using his natural hand to hand combat skills and judicious use of the Thunder Bolt Strike.Campaign Use: A 70's era hero. He has since retired. He could be a mentor, or the father of a current hero or villain.it should be noted that during the 70's DEMON was less a threat. So you might drop the Extensive NCI, to make up the points, change his DNPC to "Doesn't know of his Secret ID).

  8. Okay, but really, is Doctor Destroyer going to get more Ruthless? Is he going to see the light?

IMO the biggest "evolution" for Destroyer is if he succumbs to old age and is replaced, the new DrD might have some maneuverability...

Warlord has a nice mysterious motivation thing working for him. He could be plumbed for depth by establishing what his deal is.

    IssT'a Vahsan ?

She already is the Empress of countless Dimensions, I don't see her changing her ways.

Takofanes is pretty rigid as well, save for giving him minions as you suggest, Hermit, his goal, like Mechanon is that of the destruction of all mankind. Not really going to see changes of heart from either of those.

of course, that's just how I see them.

  9. If you ask me, Gravitar seems to be what would your average teenager or genxer do if they suddenly had super powers? She knows that she is one of the baddest of the bad and she's just acting out. I agree with LL, she has potential to become something more than what she currently is. Where as most of the master villains do not.
