One of our seldom used heros. great on paper, sucked in play.
-
our team leader.
-
Here's another one. He's only been played in the PBEM Defenders, but he has the uniform.
-
I've got some pics of our Defenders
Here are some we made from the outlines on the ols 4th ed char sheets.
-
We try not to put too much thought into stuff like that. I'm playing to get a little break from reality, so what if it doesn't make sence that the character I've been playing for 6 years hasn't aged a day.

How do you posibly plan to play this character? What does she do, sit on the bad guys?

Re: Real World becomes more like Comics

Yes folks, someone is working on the super-soldier formula.
This was interesting to read, and seems plausable enough, but there is nothing that I could find at the Penn ST medical school site that even hints at any such reserch. I'll beleave it when I see the infomercial

I'd ignore it. In our champions game, we go up against reality hopping viains, slaving aliens and ultra powerull supervilains. We wouldn't use it because our heros would have wiped out Osama's army without even breaking a sweat.

Defenders
That's the name of our team, we have about 20 members total, but only 6 are active PCs. We recently finnished a pretty cool campagn. I'll start with the roster.
Slider: Team leader: Slider has the ability to create powerful magnetic fields.
Brawl: Do I realy need to elaborate? The Brick
Cannonball: The speedster, and like the name insinuates, he specialises in move-throughs.
Blizzard: powerful Cyrokinetisist. This guy is "cool"
Arc: Lightning bolt anyone? Being able to transform into pure electricity makes for some fas movement
Man-O-War: The Iron man clone(well, not clone)this is my character.
In this campagn, we spent about 6 game sesions fighting what we thought were clones of ourselves. We investigated companies that had the resourses to do such a thing. It wasn't until it was too late that we found out we were actualy comming up against an alternate reality version of Slider. This Slider had been hopping through realities picking up alternates to each of us. By the time we realised this, over half out team had been replaced with alternates(pretty well played by the guys). We were eventually able to get free of the trap that had been laid for us, but by then, Slider had managed to steal Man-O-War's power armor and destroy our base. He eventually escaped into another reality. We have yet to go after Slider, as we're still working on rebuilding the team, the base, and the portion of the city he destroyed.

Pretty cool.

I'd personally like to see more Brick Tricks. Too many bricks are just jump-n-punch. With STR giving so many figured characteristics, it's easily the most cost efective type of hero. Sometimes to the point of being unbalanced.

Re: Vehicle Construction - Size vs Mass
Originally posted by Aroooo[This is more a design question than a rules question...]
When adapting, or even just creating, a vehicle, when determining the size (cost), should you use the vehicle's dimensions or mass as the primary governing factor?
More specific (to help understand the question) example: I'm writing up B5 starships. I have length (and width in a few cases) and mass of the ships. When 'fitting' those numbers into the size chart, sometimes there is a great disparity between dimension and mass, in terms of where the ship fits in the size chart. An Explorer class ship is about 3000 inches long, but only 37 megatons. The size chart would make it either a cost of 175 points - based on length, giving the ship a mass of 3.2 gigatons; or it would be a cost of 145 points - based on mass, giving a length of only 800 inches.
Which should I use?
Aroooo
I think you can adjust the length up or the mass down, so it would simply be peronal prefernce.

My problem with that is that a person with 1 more SPD gets to move that distance an additonal time.
For Example:
Character A - 3 SPD 7" - 21" in 12 seconds
Character B - 4 SPD 6" - 24" in 12 seconds
A doesn't move as far in one turn as B does, but because his movement is less, he has less velocity.
Look at it this way. Char A is the football jock who gets a great jump and hits full speed quickly. Char B is the Runner. Fit and trim, able to keep momentom beause he has more endurance. Sure the runner eventually overtakes the Footbal player, but if Char A hits you in that first few seconds, it hurts.

You could just buy the DC up to represent bursts of ammo. It would help with huge amounts of ammo.
Ex. If a 50 cal gun is 1 1/2 d6 RKA
50 cal Gatlin Gun, 4 1/2d6 RKA 6 charges
Each charge could be role played as a spray of 10-20 shots.

After the original creation I just let each character develope on their own. The fact that the Hulk might get 20 point more powerful without Banner paying 4 points really is not an issue to me.
I like this idea, and if I'm not mistaken, it's compleatly rules right. Adding XPs to the multiform doesn't raise the Base, so bruce doesn't have to pay 4 pt to get 20 on the HULK if the HULK got 20 XP. I dont have my book right here to verify this, but I think that's right.

If you want to do it without house rules, then you have to buy IPE for every attack that you want to remain invisable. Without that, Invisable just becomes too powerful.

I've seen a few speedsters played and even played one or two myself, but I can't say I'm a big Flash commic reader. I could give examples of "standard" speedster powers, but as for replicating the specific powers of the flash, I can't.
List of Standard Speedster powers.
First, I'd go 7-9 SPD, 33-39 DEX, reasonably high CON, like 25.
Then, combat Running. 30-35"
Non-com. either Running or Flight(only with contact with surface) baught with Megascale
HTH attacks. to represent several hits in the same spot hurting more.
NND(hard ear coverings or flash defense hearing). The clap your hands together at supersonic speed causing a sonic boom.
Extra PD only to preotect from self inflicted injuries(for move through)
Maybe EB. to represent running at supersonic speed to hit target and back to where you were standing.
Desolidification: speeding up your molicules until you can pass through solid objects.
There are too many posibilities to list for a speedster. They are very powerful, and tend to be a chalenge to play, but they can be a lot of fun too..

Funny link. I could only read 1 page though as it was getting repititios(sp). I happen to like several role-playing games, but Hero at least lets me do whatever I want. If I cant make an existing power do what I want, I create one, witch is easy to do in Hero. I admit that combat takes a long time and if that's a problem for someone, non't play Hero. I love that combat takes forever, because I know when it's over, it was done effectively. As far as Stats costing different points, I like that too. At least with Hero it doesn't matter how strong I am when determining whether I hit something or not(shameless D20 flame), just how much damage I do.

Cool character. I would change a couple of things if it were me.
1) Spell Of Vitality: I would make this 'does not add', since it's a spell and will not be used regularly.
2) I personaly wouldn't allow your EC. It just doesn't make sence to me as to how those two items form an EC.
This is just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Well, since we're all just posting for no apparent reason, HI! As you can see, I got a late start. I'll never catch you guys.
OK... 1 down.. 499 to go...
