  1. Re: Mega Scaling Explosions

It is for an NPC and the weapon system is Prowl's shoulder-mounted incindiary missiles. In order for one shot to hit 2 decepticon jets the explosion would have to be megascaled because they usually wouldn't be flying wingtip to wingtip.

As a follow-up, how would I create this in Hero Designer? Would I just buy megascale and attach a note detailing that it is megascaling the explosion or is there another way to do this. Also, would the cost of megascaling the explosion itself be the same as the cost for megascaling the range?

    Thanks for the help.

  2. I've done some searching, through books and the boards, for how many points in disads a physical limitation of Size 33m tall should give.

So far I have found in MM&M a 5-pointer that gives no specific drawbacks, a 5-pointer that gives -2DCV and +2 to Perception as per 15 points in growth, a 10-pointer for a -4DCV and +4 Perception, and another 10-pointer for a -6DCV and +6 Perception. As you can see there does not seem to be any obvious formula in determining cost.

My situation is this: I am creating transformers that range in size from 9-feet(Rumble) to well over 250-feet(Metroplex). I want to deal with the size issue by giving disads for the drawbacks and buying the appropriate powers for the benefits, just like it suggests in FRED. What I think would be very handy, is to have a chart of sizes with complementing Physical Disadvantages. I have thought of giving 5 points in disads per doubling in size, but wanted your input before I did that.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Re: STUN Reduction

You know, I am a very strict rule enforcer as a GM, and like it that way as a PC to be honest. It allows me to know the environmet. This exercise has been to give me insight on what kind of arguments there are for allowing, in this case, a obviously, to me, borked power. I thank you all for responding.

I do want to add another piece of info though, just to spice it up a bit more :) . 400-1000 is reserved for NPCs with Mini Bots falling in around 300. The PCs get 350 points with a 200point kit I made. So they get 100 points to spend with some leeway on modifications to the kit.

The STUN dr vs Omega was really just to let you know the power level and not supposed to be an example of an adequate defense against the Supreme, (psst! no one has an adequate defense for him, heh heh).

    Have at it.

  4. Re: STUN Reduction

Ok, now throw it in a campaign where you have the chance of being shot at buy a 16D RKA! This is a transformer campaign and points for NPCs run from 400 to 1000. The 16d RKA is for Omega Supreme's Plasma Blaster, which is supposed to "pulverize a solid 12' x 12' x 12' steel cube" - http://tfarchive.com/comics/genone/universe/tfuomegasupreme.php.

Either way, do you feel that in a high powered campaign like this that allowing the DR rules and accepted usage to flex more than normal? As per my original post?

  5. How would you people work a STUN Reduction power that affects both energy and physical damage? Would you buy 2 DRs with Stun Only on them or do you think there are any good arguments for allowing a single STUN only DR that costs the price of one normal DR?

eg. 75% Resistant ED DR Cost 60 - STUN Only -1/2 Real Cost 40

75% Resistant PD DR Cost 60 - STUN Only -1/2 Real Cost 40

    Total 80

    or 75% Resistant PD/ED STUN Reduction - Cost 60

    Have at it :)

  6. Re: Is this a valid Acid Gun?

I did not realize I needed to buy continuous to open the continuous charges option in charges! Expensive :jawdrop:

The problem with OAF only on the gun is that, while in vehicle mode, it can still be attacked, which is not supposed to be possible since it disappears during transformation. :nonp:

    Good conversation btw

  7. Re: Is this a valid Acid Gun?

To clarify, per quote - "Maybe the original poster can give us a clarification - as I read his post, "pellets which will last for a minute after contact with the target" could be read to mean acid on the surface of the skin, rather than lodged 6" deep in the target's body." - Hugh Neilson.

I did mean for it to be a capsule that breaks upon contact with the target surface. The capsule is for special effects purpose as I am developing Prowl's gun from the Autobots.

As for the OIHID and OAF, the purpose for OIHID is that the gun is only available to Prowl while in Robot form and the OAF is for Prowl's ability to lose posession of his gun, as is depicted of many transformers in the cartoon.

Question: Should I use the continuing advantage itself or the continuing charges adder to charges? Right now I have charges with the more expensive Continuing advantage that can be applied to general powers.

Oh, yeah. I did want it wash offable by water, otherwise, given the uncontrolled and continuous, it would not stop till the target was dead, which has never happened, to my knowledge, in the cartoon or comics.

  8. Hey there all, I am trying to build an acid gun that will fire pellets, which will last for a minute after contact with the target. Simple, I know, I just seem to have a bit of an issue getting around the effect of putting continuous (+1) and persistant (+1/2) on a weapon with charges. Here ist the weapon in question. I want to know if it will do what I want as it is now or do I have to change it? Thanks. :)

Acid Pellet Gun: Killing Attack - Ranged 2d6+1, Armor Piercing (+1/2), Persistent (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (105 Active Points); OAF (Focus: Assault Gun; -1), Only In Heroic Identity (Only in Robotic Form; -1/4), 12 Charges (-1/4)

  9. Hey everyone. I am trying to build a spell that would cause a target to suffer penalties to his skills and/or attribute and/or combat rolls because he is suffering from cold. It is an Ice Mage's spell and I was originally thinking of a change environment with temperature change and penalties to attribute rolls but I ran into the problem of having the effect follow the victim wherever he/she went. It has to be something that will only stop when dispelled, so persistant and uncontrolled.

    Thanks all

  10. Re: Limit to Selling Strength? (or any attribute)

My buddy made an interesting observation.

    Rapier said:

quote: "As a GM, I would have problems with any PC selling a stat below 5. At 5 and below the character becomes too ineffective (or too...oh, whats the word...too weakness having) to be a productive member of a team."

    observation:

"It is pretty sad that if I wanted to make a multiform of a elf owl. It

would need to be capable of carrying a sack of 2 sledge hammers, 3 bowling balls, a leather jacket 2 pairs of cowboy boots and a 2 handed scottish longsword (and the large sack could be made out of canvas)! Strong elf owl."

    What is your opinion?

  11. Re: Limit to Selling Strength? (or any attribute)

Depending on SFX, he may be too weak to fly too.

As a GM, I would have problems with any PC selling a stat below 5. At 5 and below the character becomes too ineffective (or too...oh, whats the word...too weakness having) to be a productive member of a team.

Someone with an INT of 5 or less is going to have problems comprehending directions or situations (as well as having a PER so low that they wouldn't notice their feet).

    etc.

per underlined - Well, I certainly agree, although my buddy's concept is that his most useful form is that of the possessed body, which he actual transforms into a multiform. The multiform has the same abilities no matter which body he possesses with the exception of physical limitations the possessed body had before being possessed. The only attack he has as a spirit form is a 1/2d6 rka based on EGO. he also has telepathy but most of his usefulness comes from his multiform/possessed body.

ps. I will Mark, thanks for the heads up

  12. Here's an interesting scenario. My buddy has mad a character who's main form is a spirit. He has to possess someone to affect the real world. But in his spirit form he has bought his strength down to -25, which was the limit he had found in the 5e book. We went through the Ultimate Brick and he said he'd be willing to allow the -50 that it's table goes to.

This seems a little to abusive to me since, as a noncorporeal form he cannot use his strength anyways. Buying it back seems like a whack of free points. I figure there has to be some leeway but 25 or even 50 points (aside from the fact that HD2 allows you to go below -200!) strikes me as excessive. What are your thoughts?

    Thanks :)
