  1. Re: Civilians Miniatures?

Sorry, I should have specified - Please no MEGA Miniatures recommendations. Nothing against the folks that do like and/or use them, but I've never really cared for their figs.

I love Copplestone figures (I have several already), but the only "civilian" figures I've seen from them that aren't packing weapons are the two members of the news team on the far right of this pic:

Are there others in the Copplestone range you would recommend I look at?

  2. Hi folks:

I'm constantly searching for some decent figures to use to represent the many hapless civilians that run stand and gawk as my heroes and villains duke it out in the streets of Millennium City. I've found precious few minis that can really be used to represent the unarmed civies properly and I'm wondering what other folks due in their games? Tokens of some kind?

I did find a couple of miniature packs that may work (see below). Does any one know of others?

For shame proditor! We want to see that fig! hehehe :) Seriously though, having gone through pre-wedding planning, I can empathize. Hope to see you roll out some new stuff in the future though. Loved seeing all of your past conversions.

Just to keep things tidy, I thought I'd include some links to the other threads that I'm aware of that have pictures of folks custom minis, make reference to some decent minis for use in Champions or that have "recipes" for making minis. This list is by no means comprehensive... if you know of any others, please PM me, and I'll update this post. (BTW Proditor - you never did post your Ankylosaur solution to that thread! I'd still love to see how he came out.).

Mactac is a cupboard liner. An adhesive' date=' pressure sensitive film. I never pay more than a dollar for it. It's a demon to stick so it doesn't bunch up or crinkle.. sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth, but you end up with a really cool-looking waterproof surface.[/quote']

Hmmm... I wonder if some other kinds of fixatives could work just as well but might not be waterproof (hairspray for example works well to seal different kinds of prints and artwork, but isn't waterproof).

  6. Re: Custom Figures Images

    Myrlyn,

I print out the tiles on card stock with my printer.

I then use clear Mactac (Not really mactac, because I get it at the dollar store. to cover it. It's like a clear laminating thing..

I then use gluesticks to glue it to corrugated cardboard. Try to make sure the cardboard is the same thickness or else it looks funny. Gluesticks are important because white glue will warp the cardboard.

I've never heard of Mactac before... I found some links via google, but they didn't sound like the stuff you described. What is this stuff? Is it simply a clear acrylic spray on coating? Or is this some kind of film?

Thanks again for replying and for any additional info!

  7. Re: Custom Figures Images

I also (finally) printed out and glued to cardboard and cut out some ground tiles.

Penemue: Quick question for you (as I'm lookign to do the same for my gamingg table...), what sort of carboard did you use? Is it just cereal box cardboard with the paper print out glued on?

I'm considering printing out on cardstock, but the cardstock seems a bit flimsie, and am wondering if I can strengthen it either with plasticard or some kind of stiffer cardboard.

Also, what company did you get the street print outs from etc.?

    Thanks for any info!

At some point I'll see if I can post my Black Harlequin conversion. I've got plans for several more. Now that I've settled into my new home with mroe room for my little gaming projects I'm hoping I can provide a few more conversions for this thread.

Ok, true to my word, here are some pics of the Black Harlequin figure I made for Proditor's Mod Contest.

  10. Re: Custom Figures Images

One quick request guys... whenever possible can you provide the "recipe" for the figures if you recall them? Or in the case of terrain, provide the manufacturer/provider? I love seeing inspirational work like this, and like to be able to replicate it if I can for my own campaign. :)

  11. Hi folks:

I've got a character in my campaign that is playing a cyborg with an advanced weapons system based on electrical discharges. Many of his offensive and defensive powers have the limitation "Does Not Work In Water". My question to you is how you would work with this limitation in the following circumstances:

    1. The cyborg is hit with a bucket of water or doused with a stream of water (fire hose)
    2. The cyborg is immersed under water (or partially submerged in water).
    3. The cyborg is caught out in the rain during a fight. Please give consideration to how hard the rain is falling for this one.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this one.

This really is an awesome thread. :D

I have a bunch of wacky vehicles over here: http://home.comcast.net/~champsstuff/

Feel free to grab what you like and go nuts!

Proditor: Nice collection of vehicles! I particularly liked some of the interesting WWII planes you had found. I wanted to check out your collection of space vehicle images as well, but the link came up as a 404 error. Let me know when you get it fixed!

  13. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 5

Curses foiled again! But wait... is that a ray of hope I see for the Dark Wonderland characters?

As for everyone else I want to get back to you some of about getting one or two of these ideas done.

    Eagerly awaiting the possibilities.

By the way DT, I need to rep some folks so I can rep you again (silly system won't let me heap it at your feet) for being such a great patron of Storn's and sharing the 72dpi goodies with the rest of us! I get a lot of inspiration for the images you guys produce together.

  14. Re: Campaign Start - Character Questionairre

Thanks for all of the help guys! I started the campaign this weekend, and borrowed from some of the ideas here as well as a starter questionnaire that I think originally came from RDU Neil. The discussion between my characters went very well as they tried to figure out what kind of roles they would play on the team, and how their various powers/disadvantages, etc. might play out together. I think it set a very good tone for the start of things.

I'm running "Shadows of the City" (updated to 5th ed. r) as the first adventure(s) for the group. So far so good.

Thanks againf or all of the feedback!

  15. I'm about to start a new campaign with the group I play in, and I'm GM'ing a Champions campaign for the first time in a VERY long time. I've got everything I need save one thing - A nice questionnaire for my characters to fill out regarding their characters. Obviously I can compose my own, but I'm wondering what sorts of other information more experienced GM's might ask their characters to provide prior to the start of a campaign. Some thign I'm already thinking of include:

    • Work Schedule: What sort of hours does the character put in on average during the work week. What days of the week do they work? What time of day/shift?
    • Living Situation: Does the character live alone? With family? Do they have a roommate?
    • Address: Where in the campaign city does the character live (borough and street address). My campaign is set in Millennium City, and I've provided details on the city layout and map.
    • Social Life: Who are the heroes friends? Love interests? Are their relationships long lasting? Or are they a player or drifter with few permanent ties? Where does the hero spend their down time and what sorts of social activites do they engage in?
    • Hobbies/Interests: Pretty straight forward.

What other things would you want your players to think about and provide details of before the start of a campaign? If anyone does have a full questionnaire they ask players to fill out, can you post the questions here for me?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. :)

  16. I've got a character in a campaign I'm startign that wants to apply the restrainable limitation to several movement powers. The character is a cyborg and the thought process of the player is that several modes of movement may be restrainable based on special effects. Some of the movement types don't seem appropriate though. here's the character's multipower for movement:

Cyborg Legs: Multipower, 35-point reserve, (35 Active Points); all slots Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 1) Roller Blades: Running +17" (23" total) (34 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 2) Boosters: Leaping +30" (34" forward, 17" upward) (Accurate) (35 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 3) Earth mover: Tunneling 7" through 7 DEF material (35 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 4) Combat Jets: Flight 17" (34 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 5) Afterburners: Flight 4", x32 Noncombat, rapid Noncombat movement (+1/4) (35 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

1u 6) Hover: Flight 7", Position Shift, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (28 Active Points); Restrainable (Cyborg legs; -1/2), Requires A Cyborg Tricks Skill Roll (-1/2), Side Effects (Character takes 1+1/2 d6 END Drain; -1/4)

Is restrainable allowed on running for example? I know you can place the restrainable limitation on Flight for things like wings, but I'm not sure it is appropriate for afterburners and combat jets. I know as the GM I can simply ask the player to choose a more appropriate disadvantage (ex: OIF Cybernetic Limbs) instead of restrainable, but is there any rule about applying restrainable to running for example?
