Re: Superhero Images
Thanks
I don't have a colourized version right now - I don't know when I can get around to colouring it, either - I'm pretty swamped with paying gigs at the moment.

Re: Superhero Images
Well, I haven't posted anything in a bit simply because I've been working too much, and only doing more fantasy-based stuff for myself lately.
However, I was scanning in a few pictures yesterday, stuff that I did years ago, and found one that is more-or-less superheroey (that is kinda a word, I think).
Just a pic of an armoured space suit.

Re: Superhero Images
Nice job. I think the barbarian's skin needs a little color, but it's nice.Mags
Thanks - that's them funny greenish-bluish half-orcs for ya

Re: Superhero Images
Hey all - I finally got enough time to colour up that Barbarian picture I showed you all earlier.

Re: Superhero Images
Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments

Re: Superhero Images
BTW Ian what are your rates for a superhero fig ? And how do you accept payment ?
Well, I don't like to post stuff like that on message boards that don't belong to me (it feels too much like spam - not the worst type of spam, 'cause I'm being asked, but still slightly spammy), but if you are interested, you can email me for rates and stuff.
I'll get back to you about painting this other character, though

Re: Superhero Images
Hmm' date=' Baldwin, eh? Which one of the brothers is this? [/quote']Heh - well, it is a Barbarian character I'm playing in a D&D game. I'm basing the character on 'Jayne' from the Firefly TV show, and 'Jayne' was played by Adam Baldwin...hence, Baldwin the Barbarian

Re: Superhero Images
Well, I just thought I'd show you what I was working on while also doing that colouring job on Psilord...
Now, this isn't strictly a superhero...more of a fantasy character...ah, well
-
Re: Superhero Images
I wish my colors were half as good.
Well, thanks very much - it is what I do for a living
-
Re: Superhero Images
Would you be willing to do any of the others? I'd like to see a few more.
Thanks [confidentially, it actually took less time - I was working on another project at the same time]
Um, maybe. I'm doing some drawing right now, plus have some other errands. It was mostly that the mood just struck me, when I saw that illustration, to do a quick colour-render of it. But maybe later...

Re: Superhero Images
A couple of looneys of unknown intent here (Heroes? Villains? Neither?)Nice work, as always, Blue

Re: Superhero Images
PsilordOne of the founding 4 of a major supervillain group. Basically a mentalist in powered armor (he uses his mental powers to force scientists to make stuff for him).
Pretty cool stuff here, Acroyear!
I was wondering, what colours should Psilord here be - I was thinking of quickly painting him up in Photoshop (just looked like a fun design, and at 72dpi, it wouldn't take long) - if you will let me, that is

Re: Superhero Images
Well, hey, thanks folks

Work-In-Progress 2 of 3
Okay, here is the inked version of that earlier pencilled pic - all I did to change it was tweaked the wheel a bit and moved Tower Raven's mouth around a bit.

Re: Superhero Images
Those are some nice pieces, Blue

Re: Things that work in comics but don't work in Champions
Why' date=' exactly, wouldn't they have enough points to be that fast and agile??[/quote']well, basically, having the resistant PD and ED makes you immune to a certain amount of damage 100% of the time (well, except for getting around that PDr/EDr, but you know what I mean). In order to be fast and agile enough to simulate near-100% avoidance of bullets would cost crazy amounts of DEX.
Basically, the PDr/EDr option is lots cheaper

Work-In-Progress
Hey all
okay, I thought I'd show the current self-promotional piece I am working on (between paying gigs, that is), and I'd show it in various stages.
First, here is the basic pencil illustration. This is drawn out on an 12"x17" sheet of 2-ply Bristol, and is drawn at 10"x15". Most of my illustrations are done at these dimensions (generally-accepted comic book standard).
Note that I will be inking this piece by hand later.
Now, one other thing. Like I said, this is a self-promotional piece (of the Raven Brigade, the super hero team from my 'Tales of the Tower Raven' webcomic), and it will be used as the cover page to an upcoming issue of an online comics magazine (that will be featuring an interview with me ). Normally, I add in backgrounds, just to create a sense of place. I haven't yet added in that background yet (I'm still deciding over that one) - if I do, it will precede the inking stage (I'll be deciding that Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever I get this other project completed).
Once inked, I will be tweaking it slightly (making the front motorcycle wheel a bit more realistic, moving Knight Commanders' head slightly, things like that). I tend to fiddle a bit with my inks in Photoshop a wee bit.

Just to get this thread back on track ...
Here is another piece of mine, a commissioned piece done for a friend of mine

Re: Superhero Images
Thanks Rob ... This is one of my first pieces w/ digital ink ... I'll never touch a pen for inking againThat can be tricky - the problem with that is that you can easily lose the 'line weight' in an image (granted, that can also be a problem with inking only with technical pens rather than Speedball pens and brushes), making it a bit flatter.

Re: Things that work in comics but don't work in Champions
Of course. I have seen numerous characters with that power. It typically has a Limitation like "Must be aware of attack" or "skill roll required: Danger Sense". Nothing wrong with that.Yes, that's it exactly
Normally, when I see it put that particular way, it is also teamed with 'OAF Shield', but yes it works equally well with super-reflexes, and, for the most part I would allow a PC to have that

Re: Things that work in comics but don't work in Champions
This isn't advice just another way of looking at things...
ooo, you folks are gonna hate this being mentioned, but here goes...
Okay, back in the day () I recall that the 'Marvel Super Heroes Game' (I knew you were going to hate it), on the subject of Body Armour, referred to the armour working NOT just by deflecting damage (like the Thing) but also by alternate ways around the damage, say by allowing the damage to pass through you without it actually doing anything (like the Man-Thing).
*ahem* Now, by this logic, a player could reasonably create, say, a martial artist character with resistand PD and ED, and say that, it doesn't actually reflect any armour he has, but his super-reflexes.
And, if the GM was willing, I'd say that this interpretation would be 'close enough for jazz'.
Heck, it even more-or-less explains Batman and Iron Fist dodging bullets left and right, even though (were they really Champions characters) they don't have enough points to actually make them that fast/agile.
Does it violate the spirit of the game? Well, maybe. It could be an abuse of the min/max theorem. But is it wrong?
That is between the PC and his/her Diety or Dieties (or GM) of choice
(by the by, unless someone gave me a really really compelling reason to allow this...say, like more pizza or something...I probably would disallow this. I'm just voicing an alternative, folks)

Re: Superhero Images
Thanks - I need to update it with the latest work (I tend to drop that into my Deviantart gallery first before coding it into my website), but it serves its purpose
