  1. Re: Quick Question

You know that is what title I started out as, just sounded too long. Oh well.

The fact that I got the answer 6 posts ago and the thread keep going is some what intertaining to me.:)

Oh as for the taking things the wrong way :nya: if your going to "rib" me you had better use BBQ.:D

  2. Re: Right Place Right time

The name of that rare and undetectable power is called the "Aura of the PC", it is quite similar to the disadvantage known as "The Aura of the DNPC" where by every being defined as a villain or just a bad guy somehow knows who, what and where.

Others have given this unusual phenomenon their own name in an attempt to control the effects. Such names have included terms such as “Weirdness Magnet, Luck, Unluck and Whims of the GM (however, no one has ever discovered the what this being called the GM is).

  3. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if...

Now I haven't read this whole thread yet, so if this has already come up I'm sorry, but it reminds me of that new show on Cartoon Network (I think it goes by a different name in other countries). The League Of Super Evil. (A.K.A. LOSE). I think the dog Doomageddon is the most impressive character of the lot. Man I love that name, may end up naming my next cat Doomageddon.

  4. Re: Google Earth

Has anyone else out there used Google Earth as a game aid?

    In a word: YES!

In a few more words, I use it to find nearly every thing that comes up in game, like when a character asks "where should be put our base at?" If your using the most up-to-date version, the street view option has been of great help planning fights. Things that don't show up on the overhead view can be seen in that view (like a low wall around a park).

  5. Re: To Kill, or just To Mess Up Real Bad...?

Hey Sean, you might want to look at the injury mechanics from other game systems. I found the simplicity of the ICON System worked well - basically your BODY would be broken down into 6 roughly equal groups (Healthy, Stunned, Injured, Wounded, Incapacitated, Near Death and then Killed). I would think you could do away with stunned as that is a condition used in existing HERO System mechanics, and 5 roughly equal groups normally works out better in HERO.

So let’s use a normal 10 as the example:

    10 to 8 = Healthy

    7 to 4 = Injured

    3 to 1 = Wounded

    0 to -3 = Incapacitated

    -4 to -6 = Near Death

-7 or less = Dieing (uh, forget that part about 5 groups)

for every group you drop by, you star accruing penalties to all rolls and Damage Classes.

If you need more details as to how the injury looks/feels/etc. HERO System already has a damage location chart (when used for flavor alone in a Champions Game things become more dynamically entertaining)

  6. Re: UN Supers headquarters

Another thought just hit me, why base them at all within the borders of ANY country - Naval based operations, the UN could purchase some older/retired naval warship (escort carriers come to mind) remove the non-defensive weaponry and have the sluggish logistics follow the fast moving supers after they've been deployed to one of any number of hot-spots.

  7. Re: Nuclear Explosion Man

Did you want a lower powered blast like the one you mentioned' date=' or more like the 12 phase blast written up in one of the 4th ed books(it escapes me atm)?[/quote']

Hero System Almanac 2, page 77. Written by our very own Steve Long back in '95. Total points as written 7,253 Active; 1,009 Real for a 1 megaton warhead. (happened to have just been looking at that book)

Legatus, I'm not sure I'd go with the Megascale myself. but if your not too worried about the point total you might want to think about Continuous and Uncontrolled

  8. Re: Concept to power help: Walking Computer Virus

Guys your giving me great ideas, thank you. To answer one question: any/all virus types - it could become a collection of ills. Also, do you folks think this would be encompassing enough to justify an Elemental Control Framework?

One other part of the inspiration for this villain was this image I stumbled upon and thought to myself 'What a neat looking character'. Though I cannot remember who the artist is, if any one recognizes it let me know.

  9. Hello all;

I'm having a hard time trying to build a personal adversary for one of my PC's. The concept is a video game programmer that, ahem, discovered a way to bring her video game characters out of the game and in to the world (i.e. Summoning, and lots of it). The adversary I'm attempting to build is the result of her computer getting a virus that ends up being projected in to reality (... I cannot believe I just said that).

So far all I can come up with as powers a computer virus/worm/trojan/etc would have is duplication (they always make copies of themselves) and teleport (how did I get that in there) as concept abilities. Please feel free to bombard me with ideas - for some reason I'm stuck.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Re: strange site

I'll admit that looking at silly rocks is kind of...well...silly' date=' but there's no need to call the guy names.[/quote']

Good one Rapier, I see you wit is nearly as sharp as your blade :P

Moraine: A moraine is any glacially formed accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris (soil and rock) which can occur in currently glaciated and formerly glaciated regions' date=' such as those areas acted upon by a past ice age. This debris may have been plucked off the valley floor as a glacier advanced or fallen off the valley walls as a result of frost wedging. Moraines may be composed of silt like glacial flour to large boulders. The debris is typically sub-angular to rounded. Moraines may be on the glacier’s surface or deposited as piles or sheets of debris where the glacier has melted. Moraines may also occur when glacier or iceberg transported rocks fall into the sea as the ice melts.[/quote']

    On to the other-

Look at what forum it's posted in, O ye skeptics.

Now drop the cynicism, put on your fedora, and speculate about who built this complex and what might still be lurking there.

Agreed, the problem though is the physical location, 40' under some damn cold and fairly murky water. Pulp or not I'd have a hard time getting my players wet, put it someplace a little warmer... say Florida and they’d be all over it (the group is trying to find the link between Foo Fighters (not the band) and Atlantis).

Besides, it looks more like a Hippo eating a banana to me.;)

  11. Re: strange site

You can see the parallel striation on the top surface of the boulder (just below the divers torso), it's glacier plucking debris. It’s arranged in a line because we’re looking at a moraine.

  12. Re: What defines Hero ID

The basic character concept is a normal person that has usable wings (and that's the normal ID, mutant), when the character goes to Hero ID the wings do something akin to the Colossus effect and the feathers become sharp and 'flingable' (for those familiar with Greek mythology the powers are based off the Stymphalian Birds). The character gains some additional DEX and SPD but not much else. There are some addition Foci based abilities but those are more easily defined.

I guess what I'm asking is: IS there a required transaction or time period between changing identities for the OIHID limitation?

Edit: Thinking about it I should have mentioned the limitation in the first post...:doi:

  13. Re: UN Supers headquarters

    Your list:

Candidates for Regional Headquarters: (and associated regions)

Caracas, Venezuela (Central & South America)

Istanbul, Turkey (Eastern Europe & Middle East)

Jakarta Indonesia (Southeast Asia & Australia)

    Lagos, Nigeria (Africa)

    Additionally:

New York City, USA (North America, North Atlantic) UN Headquarters is already there - nobody can argue about having internal security.

    Geneva, Switzerland (Western Europe)

Bhavnagar, India (Middle East, Indian Ocean)

Is. Destruga (South Pacific) For those keeping track this is Dr. Destroyers old hideout that became U.N.T.I.L.’s problem.

Sapporo, Japan (East Asia, North Pacific)

    Rawson, Argentina (South Atlantic, Antarctica)

That should just about cover the globe. Though I agree with Clonus about Africa, it could use one more.

  14. Re: Powerless

Angels of Darkness: Despite having wings she tries to live a “normal” life, and did a very good job at it in her early life (fishing on the Aegean Sea). Her first thought would be to head back to the top of Mount Olympus to see if this was some type of test from the Olympians. After that proved to be fruitless and assuming history before she decided to become a superhero remained the same, she would continue to raise her, now normal, son without fear of some of her more powerful enemies. She might go into some form of law enforcement/government security job.

That is until Apollyon’s add made it’s way to Greece.
