  1. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

A woman who dresses as Ronald McDonald and takes pictures.

A person who has amassed an enormous COBRA army of action figures.

Another who has an awe inspiring video game collection, and what appears to be a couch modeled after a Nintendo.

    Two thoughts:

    1) The boards are a great place to learn about other's hobbies.

    2) My hobbies are dull.

  2. Re: Calling Marvel fanatics

Yeah' date=' it's her "Secondary Mutation" (something Morrison introduced in his run on [b']New X-Men[/b]; other secondary mutations include Beast's now leonine form and Angel's ability to heal people with his blood)...

    :nonp:

Wow. I've been away a loooong time.

  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings

The specific series I'm referring to is the Grantville Series by Eric Flynt (made up of the books 1632' date=' 1633, 1634: The Galileo Affair, Ring of Fire, and The Grantville Gazette).[/quote']

The series must be pretty good to have you upset about it. I haven't heard of it, but I'll keep an eye out.

  4. Re: Perfect Memory

A wonderful idea. Vaguely reminiscent of the Witnesses from Stranger in a Strange Land. This seems fine and workable to me, but really I think that it's potent, so you and the gm should discuss exactly how much detail and accuracy this could conjure up.

A few other thoughts, too. The act of recall is not passive, as was thought several years ago. As an active function, perhaps a professional skill would be appropriate. Success could determine how long it takes to successfully recreate the memories without memory interference. On the flip side, a professional skill: memorization could determine how well it is handled in the first place.

    Running with an idea...

Concentration seems appropriate, as would meditative skills.

I like the retrocog idea, too. That made me wonder how well sharp their senses are, too. They have to be crystal clear and doubtless for them to have the confidence in their memories.

Doubtless there will be increased EGO, too. The willpower for such feats would be astounding.

The concept does suggest some disads, too, but you've pro'ly got those ready to go.

  5. Re: Ten Best Superhero Martial Arts

Now' date=' since this is Comics, i will go with Kun Fu and Pro-Wrestling. Nothing can beat a rock botton!! if you smell what the Rock is cooking!!.[/quote']

Oh hell yeah! What I wouldn't give to see some supers bust out some real moves. Imagine Colossus and the tombstone piledriver, Spidey using a frankensteiner, or Superman giving a backbreaker. Supposedly Ben Grimm is trained as a grappler, but you never see him use it.

  6. Re: Superhero Pope: Ridiculous or Sublime?

So' date=' as a GM, how do you react when a player presents you with a character whose origin is basically "I was Pope. I died. I was reborn with superpowers"?[/quote']

"Ok, why do you have the psych lim: casual killer?"

    "Well, I'm not pope now!"

  7. Re: How Much Of A Tinkerer Are You?

Well, it depends on whether I'm GMing or playing. As a GM, I really like to experiment and throw in house rules that fit my conceptions better. When creating characters for play, though, I try to make them as straight by the book as possible. I want to minimize the possibility of controversy when I present the characters as I don't actually have a regular GM right now and who knows if and when someone will see the character?
