  1. Re: What??!! The Roman Empire fell to pieces while Jesus was still alive??!! Hmm....from my church history you'd have the following impacts * No Romans, no crucifixion of Christ. The Jewish pharisees would have had to knock him off their way. No major changes maybe. * No Romans, no Roman Catholic Church. Emperor Constantine ultimately protected Christianity from persecution BUT turned it into a state religion with all it's politics and offices and bells and smells (no offense). This means the practical expression of 'the Church' is open to your own imagination, I guess. Without the Romans, it may have gone underground across the world rather than being accepted here, thus maybe creating potential for a 'Rebel Force' type group. But I'm blathering now...... Oz I knew my seminary training would come in useful somewhere....

  3. Re: Storn Art from Idea to Full Picture Year 2 I like Levi's idea of a Catholic priest based hero. Some kind of mysterious Jesuit type character would be an interesting one to work with. Maybe you could name him after the new Pope....
  4. Re: How do you feel about Superheroes that kill? Super-heroes are not necessarilly super-moral or super self-controlled to match their super abilities. They often are very 'human' in regards to emotional stability etc. Sometimes the very fact that they are 'different' creates more emotional angst. So it adds some depth to the persona if on occasion a super hero 'snaps' and overdoes it. I recall a DC Batman comic where Batman, being in a particularly dark frame of mind starts bashing the pus out out this crook and having to be pulled off before killing him. I found that made him a lot more interesting. Sort of an anti-hero. And then there is the obvious fact that with the super powers/skills there can be accidental killings, eg; pushing a bad guy too hard such that he sails off the 10 storey rooftop, plummeting to his death. Oops! Having said that, indiscriminate or frequent killing would make the tag of 'hero' an increasingly inappropriate title. But whaddooIknow? Oz
  5. Re: Superhero Images Hey, Logan. Anther chesy Australian here.... What program/software are you using to create these? Oz
  6. Re: Superhero Images These are brilliant. I was almost going to ask you for her number!! What is this 'Poser'? Is that the program you use to create them?
  7. Re: Superhero Images Holy Snapping Rainbow Trout! How did you create that work of art? What software did you use? Thats brilliant, mate! Oz
  8. Re: Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich Review Nay verily, but they are not MY mods. I want to be able to say ' It's alive...mwhoo ha ha har'. Character/ persona creation is almost the best bit for me. But to stay on topic, the first Freedom Force was a great game, yet from my nosing around there are mods available to totally rebuild every aspect of the 'Third Reich'. It shows amazing altruism on the part of the game creators to let people dabble with their production. I have never seen that before. Three cheers, n' all that. Oz
  9. Re: Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich Review Whew! Glad someone mentioned Freedom Force. I just posted another one about them. Anyone here skilled at creating characters via the character tool/ PhotooShop? I'd love some tutoring. Must be getting old.....
  10. Hi, being new, I am not sure whether I will be branded a heretic for mentioning the superhero game, Freedom Force (Irrational Games) but being an ex-cartoonist I have been thrilled to see people creating a 3-D figure of their created heroes and was wondering whether anyone here has used the Character Tool to construct their own heroes? If you have done so, and if you use PhotoShop to paint the costumes.....HELP! I am finding it hard to do. Now go ahead, shoot me......*grin* I am only an incompetent normal. I have an excuse!
  11. Re: Spectator Sport? OK, I'll prove my incompetence and ask, What does PBeM? And, hey, anything that helps me get a handle on how the game is played would be great. I've been out of this for 20 years. Oz
  12. Hi. 'Incompetent Normal' am I!? Boy, thats putting me in my place. I was wondering what opportunity there was to be a spectator in a game so I can watch how the GM orchestrates things. How do people play? AIM? Email? I'm in Australia too, so I guess time zone is a factor. Oz
  13. Re: A Humble Novice Asks a Question....or Two Hi folks Many thanks for the quick response and advice. In hindsight my initial question was a little dumb. One would hardly expect a game to be unchanged after 20 years. I'll try and get hold of Sidekick. Thanks again Oz
  14. Hi people. 20 years ago I played Champions with the you-beaut 1983 version. I think when I left the nest, my mum threw it out. Well, long story short I have only just come back into the fold and have found another original copy (via eBay). Questions are: Will developing a character according to the specs of the 1983 Champions rulebook really disadvantage me in character creation compared to the more modern books? Ie: will I get pounded in an RP due to being 'dated'? Also, can anyone guide me to any template pics online which I can print and create costumes/looks for? Can't find any, & can't afford Hero Designer yet. ...and how do I get one of those cool lil pics next to my name? Be patient with me......its been a lonnnnng time. Cheers, Oz (Sth Australia)
