  1. Re: Multipower Based Weapon Martial Arts Multiple Attack in 6e works with martial arts just fine. I'm positive that was the case for Sweep in 5e as well. At least I always allowed it.
  2. Re: Unsure how, why, where... or _whether_ to start! I came to Hero from the palladium system and I can tell you that making characters in hero is faster and easier (except maybe for high powered characters with loads of powers) because, unlike palladium, hero has a lot of internal consistency and rationality. Nevertheless I find myself using HD a fair bit because it's so much faster than doing it by hand. On the other hand I'm doing a fair bit of my current material by hand because it makes learning the system a lot easier when you're actually banging on the books. You'll find that things like the CHAR/5 breakpoints will become second nature quickly and you won't even need to do much math anymore. My biggest problem learning Hero was pretty much psychological - I had the overwhelming urge to model even the most inconsequential crap in Hero terms. At some point it just ceases to be fun. So as you start just keep in mind that if something seems like more work than it's worth it's totally reasonable (as a GM anyway) to just handwave some things. For example, I was converting the Thunderclap spell from rifts and initially had modelled the fact that it could be heard from a mile away as Images to hearing group and it's deafening qualities as a Flash to hearing group. In the end I decided this was a waste of time and just made it a Flash to hearing group with the special effect that it was a really loud sound and noted that it could be heard a mile away. Much simpler. I started with the main 5th edition revised book so I'd say the main decider between the basic rulebook and the big blue beasts is how much money you feel like spending to start. Wow, sorry for the wall of text. tldr; Palladium boo, Hero yay, simplify builds with SFX
  3. I'm working on a nanotech armor suit (like the ones in Crysis) and I'm wondering how to model a remote self-destruct that can be triggered by someone with the appropriate access codes. It would be used to prevent capture by the enemy or to terminate rogue pilots. I was thinking of doing a large HKA, AOE 1 hex, with a trigger that is useable by others. Anybody have any other ideas?
  4. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive Got my 6e books on monday, now waiting on my BR and APG! From looking at the pdfs I thought I was going to miss the minimalistic green on black, but I have to say the new books are fantastic looking - very slick. And the 6e1 Chapter 4 opening art is epic, I can't get the face out of my mind! Also, I'm glad it was split into two books, not just because of the convenience, but because of the weight. Combined they would be bigger and heavier than my old AI textbook, which would be quite a feat.
  5. Re: Help with a spell build In the end I realized that I could make more interesting monster forms by applying some templates and mixing and matching a bit, so I dropped this idea for now. On the other hand it'd be nice to add later, so thanks for the tip about the Ultimate Metamorph. Maybe I'll pick it up when I go on a little hero splurge after PA Hero comes out.
  6. I'm writing up an NPC thaumaturgist for the Turakian campaign I'm running right now and I've run into a bit of a problem. This guy is to be a specialist in self transformation but I don't really like the feel of transforming into specific monster forms and such. The idea is that he would make whatever physical changes he needs to get a specific ability or 2. I planned for it to be much like the spell Thaumaturgic Sculpting, but was dissapointed to find that you can't use transforms on yourself. How would you model this? I thought of a VPP that can only used to make multiforms, but that won't work on others. The other was just to apply an advantage Can be used on self to the transform. I figure that would be worth +1 or +1.5. Here's the spell thus far: Ganossa's Greater Thaumaturgic Sculpting: Major Transform 2d6 (grant physical form based powers, heals back through another application of this or similar spells, or a period of 1 hour plus 1 hour per point by which the caster makes his roll), Improved Results Group (any physical form based power; +1/4), Continuous (+1) (67 Active Points); Limited Target (Human Beings; -1/2), Requires A Thaumaturgy Roll (-1/2), Spell (-1/2), No Range (-1/2), Incantations (-1/4), Gestures (-1/4)

    Firefly

Re: Firefly SciFi has been playing Firefly before Stargate on Fridays. Have they gotten the TV rights from Fox or are they limited to just reruns? I think they're playing them in the right order, but I never saw the whole series to begin with, so I'm not sure.
