  1. Re: It is mine, all mine!

I HOPE it has better car rules than basic Hero does' date=' when I did my recently handled 5 cars in a chase/combat I was longing for car wars rules.[/quote']

I just wish SJG would bring back the smaller counters and construction rules! Too bad it's 'off the radar' for now... :tonguewav

  2. Re: Video Games

I don't suppose this will be an online game that you'll be running, CrosshairCollie? If so, I'd be quite interested in playing in it, if you are looking for people to join, that is. :)

    I second that!

  3. Re: Video Games

This just begs the question, what video game characters would YOU want to see done up in HERO?

A couple that come to mind for me:

Solid Snake and Karnov. Ooooh! And Rygar! Ooooh! And Dante!

  4. Re: Capcom HERO

Ooooh, I recall Star Gladiators! (Was that Capcom?)

What about the non-Capcom games... Battle Arena Toshinden? Tobal?

And how can we forget the Dreamcast Capcom classic, Tech Romancer? :)

  5. Re: Pulp Discussion

Personally' date=' I don't see why you can't have both in the same campaign ...[/quote']

In all honesty, it'd be hard for me to differentiate on that basis. My contribution is to just list possible sources for inspiration for a Pulp HERO game... this is far from a complete list, and my mind is blanking... so here goes...

    Other RPGs

    Gear Krieg

    Adventure!

    Weird Wars

    Crimson Skies (boardgame)

    Comics

    Hellboy

    Movies

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Buckaroo Banzai (has some elements, anyways)

    The Rocketeer

    Indy Jones trilogy

    Allan Quartermain series

Big Trouble in Little China (mix of wuxia and pulp)

    Video Games

Crimson Skies (both PC version, and the sequel for the Xbox)

    Novels

I am admittedly ignorant when it comes to pulp novels. Though I recall Doc Savage was mentioned at some point...

  6. Re: The cranky thread

My back still hurts from helping a friend move two weeks ago. I have drill this weekend, and it's expected to rain all throughout. And I'm tired of people coming up to me after I sent out an email saying I'm going to do something, and then saying "I didn't know you were going to do that... I wish you had let me know."

Return receipts on emails are wonderful things.

  7. Re: Capcom HERO

    Thankyou.

And since Capcom can't be expected to maintian cohesive continuity...just kidding. If you ever get a chance to see it, there is a guy goes by the name tiamat. He got translations of the book "All about Capcom" and it has the skinny on the whole Street FIghter universe and all that is "canon".

    it's an interesting read.

Who knew that 'Q' would be so tough...

I hesitate to admit this... but I haven't played SF since its Alpha 3 release on the Dreamcast... or was it PSOne? One of those. Anyways, never played 3rd Strike or anything, so all mentions of Gil, Q, and others are pretty much lost on me. :)

Most of my fighting games come down to Tekken, Soul Calibur, and once in awhile Marvel vs. Capcom.

  8. Re: Pulp Hero Forum

When Pulp Hero is released' date=' will it get its own board like Dark Champions?? While Ninja Hero didn't get its own board, it also doesn't look like its as supported as Pulp Hero is going to be, with multiple books in the line.[/quote']

On this note... the idea of doing a Crimson Skies campaign makes my mouth water...

  9. Re: Capcom HERO

And a fine job he did. :) Did you see mine? I got Charlie' date=' and let's face it he's superior to Guile...:D[/quote']

So THAT'S why Guile made it out and Chuck didn't.... :nya:

    *ducks for cover*

Incidentally, I agree with you when it comes to SF Alpha. :)

  10. Re: Capcom HERO

    D20.

OGL, more specifically. The folks at Living Room Games say that it'll be similar to Mutants & Masterminds in regards to chargen. From the demo pack I saw, it felt more like that and d20 mixed together... of course, that could change. They pushed back the release to December due to some rules changes they needed to make.

I'm not sure what exactly I would do with these games if I bought them. Converting to HERO seems obvious, but what kind of characters are these? Supers?

Ninja HERO would be as good a place to start as any. Probably bring in EBs for things like fireballs and whatnot. *shrug* Now that I'm thinking about it, I'll have to see if I can stat out Bison with his Psycho Crusher and all...

  11. Re: Tell me about your GLC

The idea I had for a campaign had each PC as part of the "Integrity Guard". They undergo genetic engineering (all are humans otherwise) and gain powers. In doing so, they agree to become part of a part military/part explorer corps organization.

Major villains included rogue Guardsmen (who were the first to undergo the Treatment, which hadn't been perfected at the time. The game timeline assumes it's been several years since the Rogues had been dealt with... supposedly).

Those who don't wish to be so obviously superpowered can enlist into IGS (Integrity Guard Support) duty, and are affectionately referred to between services as "Iggies".

I had planned to do up a 'recruitment poster' as the first PC handout... "Tired of watching the fight against evil on your holovid? Want to join in the fight? Then visit your local Integrity Guard recruitment office and sign up for duty!" Also, "Didn't make the genecut for IG duty? Think you're helpless in the grand scheme? THINK AGAIN! Join the Integrity Guard Support Services, and support our troops on the front line!"

  12. Re: Good toys for use with Champions...

What are M.U.S.C.L.E. men? Never hear dof them. Do you have a link?

Little pink guys about an inch or so tall from several years ago. Kind of exotic collection of aliens, monsters, and heroes all dressed up to be pro wrestlers.

There's a PS2 game out called Galactic Wrestling, I believe, that uses the same cast. I can't recall the Japanese name for them, though...

I remember the main bad guy being named Terribull or something...

    EDIT- Linkity link... http://www.newellsystems.com/muscle/collecting/collectingfaq.asp

  13. Hey all-

I have to admit to my having another loyalty in addition to HERO... the Mutants & Masterminds board has a forum entitled "Roll Call", where users post their characters and concepts.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to implement something like this for the various genres on this board... keeps character ideas from getting lost in the deluge of other threads, and keeps the other threads from being thinned out by character ideas.

What think? (Wasn't sure where to put this, and this seemed as good a place as any...)

  14. Re: The horror, the horror. European Enemies "debugged."

These are great. Any chance of posting the Hero Designer files?

I'm one of those rare people who actually liked much of European Enemies. Sure, there are lots of errors that should have been caught by the editors, and some of the concepts are pretty lame, but there are also several useful and fun characters there. I've got a particular fondness for Argent Anarky, who I've used more than once.

There were a couple neat ones... the Despoiler and... Sebastian? The guy who always wore tweed blazers and hunted lost children. Two of my favorites, for some reason. :)
