Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
I was just glad it wasn't a $2.5 billion disaster. Those are our tax dollars up there.

Re: "Neat" Pictures
It is just lacking the frickin' laser on its head. Hey, sharks can't have all the fun.

No more worrying about the seat being up. A urinal for women.
That is probably Japan. I read that they were sort of popular for a time. I think it was during an Olympics period? Not sure.

Re: Creepy Pics.
Really? That many in the Sandman series? Huh... I guess I just chose to not remember due to the creep factor. Haven't read the Dreaming or the solo spin off. I mentioned the gif above to my wife and she refused to look at it and in fact was angry because it made her remember him from the series.

Re: Creepy Pics.
vas in himmel????I have read some of the comics... not that one I guess!
The Corinthian is definitely one of the creepiest characters in the whole series. I think he was only in one or two of the issues, but it has been quite a while since I read them.

Re: How would you make "the Doctor"?
The Doctor is not a character at all. He is the deus ex machina, and the show is really more about the companions and the events. When Dr. Who was originally launched, it was to be a teaching show about history. Obviously it has changed a great deal. However, The Doctor is still "just a guide" through the events of the show, until the need arises that the problem is resolved. He then resolves it in his wonderfully Dr. Who way. But to try to focus on him as a character is a fun exercise, but ultimately he would never be played by a player. He would always be the GM's personal NPC in a Dr. Who campaign if for no other reason than the fact he always wins, and that is why all the bad guys fear him, he is the GM.
Now that said, I think Derek nailed the character build! Well done! And repped!

I can post just one of these, so here's an entire album of incredibly amazing pictures.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
I learned that one of my wife's friend's husband speaks fluent Japanese this past weekend--he learned it while on a mission there (he's Mormon). He offered to hand out with me and chat in Japanese. I have very mixed feelings about that.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
Had a very brief conversation in Japanese today with one of our Japanese executives. I was told that I am really improving. Having learned a fair amount about Japanese culture I responded, "Oh no. I am not very skilled at all. I do not have many words." He laughed, nodded, and said, "Very good."

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
In Japanese, I've now learned 70 kanji characters. I only have about 2000 more to go before I'm considered proficient enough to read a newspaper.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
Today I got a brand new Plantronics headset, phone splitter, and handset lifter. It was really cool to be able to walk around and answer calls without being tethered to my desk.

Well, obviously someone has been shirking his duties in keeping this thread moving.

Re: "Neat" Pictures
After some more research, rebar can't hurt, so I'll be doing that. Also, another neat picture. The state of Texas built a basin simply using unopened bag of concrete, rebar, and water.
Yup. Rebar can't hurt, unless you get hit by it. I studied architecture in college before getting diverted to IT. As you probably already learned in your research, rebar provides several benefits to a structure.

You are thinking far too long term. We need to continue on this path of self destruction if the transition of the country to China is going to go smoothly.
